Which makes me ask the question: What happened? Patty did fine in the first movie. What changed? From what I heard, Patty had less supervision. Thus, everything can be blamed on her.
To my knowledge, a lot of the first Wonder Woman movie was blueprinted by Zack Snyder's ideas. By the time WW84 was being made, Snyder was already out of the picture of the DCEU, and Patty Jenkins'
only knowledge of Wonder Woman was clearly
just the Lynda Carter show.
Don't get me wrong, a lighthearted romp of a Wonder Woman movie like the Lynda Carter show wouldn't be unwelcomed from me ... But oh my goodness is it ever tonal whiplash from the first movie and the rest of the DCEU. Also, the screenplay sucks a big one, and the movie is too damn long!
It's actually amazing how WW84 torpedoed Patty Jenkins' career. She's doing absolutely nothing these days. Perhaps she is just the kind of filmmaker who works best with other people's ideas and material. Given total control, we get disasters like WW84.
By the way, Zack Snyder is an interesting filmmaker. A lot of the movies he writes and directs are shit, but in my opinion, the man has a lot of good
ideas for movies. Sucker Punch, for example ... I see what the man was going for in that movie ... But the execution is a muddled and nonsensical
mess. But ... An effort was made. lol.
Then we have the first Wonder Woman movie. It was Snyder's ideas with a competent filmmaker, and it's a legit good movie. Zack Snyder should really just be a dude who pitches his movies to studios and has other people make them for him.
