i liked superman
i would like to see supergirl
i wish there was legitimate critique/reviews for it but everything that's been pushed to me is either milly alcock le bad or right wing grifter le bad
searing hot take: both hollywood and the critical drinker orbit are bottom of the barrel retards, I just want to know if the movie is worth watching.

I'm confused on how this is being split into a trilogy
my best guess is that it's sold in stores as a trilogy, and most of the people watching probably consumed the original story that way. but who knows, you could probably condense it into one film without much trouble. when you're paying indonesian drones to animate for literal pennies, you can probably afford to stretch it out. also why it looks like shit

I'm confused on how this is being split into a trilogy since some of the scenes shown her happen much later in the Knightfall story as far as I remember
Knightfall reads like a two part story. Splitting it into a trilogy screams hobbit trilogy style cash in.
Wait... There is an adult bluey fandom?

They're just normal parents enjoying a cartoon with their kids. Right? They're not degenerates. Right?
The adult Bluey fandom is notably associated with certain illegal activities and scams related to the cartoon. Additionally, there have been concerns regarding inappropriate grooming behaviors within the community. Outside of families, the rest of the adult Bluey fandom consists of childless adults using the show to promote left-wing identity politics.

I liked that cartoon Games Workshop tried to kill where the Space Marines (tm Me, Xyzpdq jr, I trademarked it last week and own that trademark) show up at the Bluey house to kill furries and you think it's to kill the blueys but it's really to kill the pervs in the walls jerking to the blueys.
then they probably kill the blueys too

While I'm not cheering it on, Supergirl is going to be a flop because that's just the way it is. There was some interest, even from "chuds" over her part at the end of Gunn's Superman but Milly Alcock has decided to completely torch any goodwill the potential audience had. It's insane that even now, after years of movies flopping when they most needed them to be hits, the people who run the behind-the-scenes shows in Hollywood are still more concerned with "sending a message" than people actually watching the movie and making it profitable.

It was not going to do well because it's a current-day Gunn project but Alcock's decision to put on the bitchy "girlboss" persona in interviews was probably a perfect capper to it's failure. It is too reminiscent of Rachel Ziegler's behavior while "promoting" Snow White.

Every collected version of Knightfall I've seen has 3 parts. There's the massive version you usually see in comic book stores, but there's a slimmer one that just has the main plot, and that's what it looks to be adapting. The trailer seems to be showing stuff from the entirety of the arc, as they have JPV in all of his costumes in the trailer, and the original story ends with his defeat while he's dressed as Batman with massive shoulder spikes. Having watched the trailer, I assume that they're showing clips from each of the films.

In the comic, the first chunk was mostly dealing with a massive jailbreak Bane caused where pretty much the entire rogue's gallery was set loose to run Batman down. At the culmination of that, Bane breaks into Wayne manner and breaks the bat.

The second is John Paul Valley taking over, and trying to work with Robin, Bruce is being rehabilitated by Lady Shiva, and this is the arc where Bane is defeated by JPV, as he starts losing his mind, setting up the final confrontation.

JPV is out to lunch and everyone is trying to stop him. Bruce comes back and manages to talk him down. JPV goes on to a 100 or so issue run as Azrael, and Bane goes on to be power crept into oblivion, usually at the cost of his intelligence.

I like Gunn and I like his Superman movie but putting out a Supergirl movie in what has been a bear market for capeshit was always a stupid idea. It could have been an HBO mini series and would have went over a lot better. You can tell its tracking poorly because the marketing I've seen lately has shifted to HEY GUYS LOOK SUPERMAN IS IN THIS MOVIE TOO!!!!!

I'm not saying I don't think there's enough content for a trilogy, I'm saying that, in this trailer for the first instalment of the trilogy, I'm seeing scenes that I swear come from the final stretch of the storyline. Like, Nightwing doesn't show up until after JPV goes off the deep end, doesn't he?

There was no audience for this film even without Alcock saying things. Hell, I don’t even think Alcock is that much to blame given that the real issue is the shitty interviewers placing her in a bind with them trying to get her to announce Supergirl as LGBT, no real good answer to these people that Warner should have vetted out of events.

This movie had no audience going in. It is a film based on an already controversial Tom King run that will place most comic fans at odds with it. It is a film for the girls, yet has no qualities that women would actually watch a film for, no romance, no besties, not even a nice looking dude besides the niche of women who want a disgusting Wario-like biker. As for the men, they have purposefully making this girl ugly which ruined the few fans she gained at the end of Superman. I have no idea the thought process for this film beyond Gunn make Guardians of The Galaxy, which this looks to be a shitty knock-off of.

With the right direction it could have worked, but they choose every wrong decision.

They either should have put together a Super Best Friends film and capitalized on K-Pop Demon Hunters with a girl group, or they should have made a romantic comedy of her and Jimmy like My Adventures with Superman is doing to great success. They had avenues, but they deliberately picked the worst ones.

I’ll probably see it this weekend, so I can let you know.

Impression without taking a political side, it is going to be a shitty Guardians that misses the mark on being a Supergirl story or even something unique. The main crux will be Kara overcoming trauma, but it will be overly cynical and mean to feel anything, with lame Gunn quips and edge humor sprinkled throughout.

Maybe I phrased it poorly. I think its showing scenes from what are going to be each of the 3 movies.

I'm not sure if that's the case, or why they would do that, but given how much they've shown, unless they're making serious changes, the clips would seem to imply stuff from toward the end of the books, i.e. Nightwing's involvement,

Granted, if they're changing it, perhaps their plan is to have Nightwing as a part of the event earlier on, so it feels more foreshadowed when he returns for the final showdown with JPV.

If you put a gun to my head and said put all the stuff from the trailer into the first installment, I guess you just have Bruce taken out really fast, JPV takes over, and subsequently loses his mind, and ends with Nightwing either taking him out, or getting ready to. Maybe the second than becomes Bruce's recovery, and ends with him coming back to fight JPV. Or maybe Bane will stay the main villain until Bruce's return in this adaptation.

Who the hell knows.

It's also apparently going to be R rated which is unusual for DC animation. Why? My guess Gunn I suppose? Although I doubt it'll have much or any nudity nor will there be swear words I'm sure they will just up the action to on screen gore shots.

Edited to add: this will really be good depending on how much they focus on Bane and Azrael and how good their voice actors are. However knowing DC they'll probably 90 percent focus on Bruce and maybe give some time to Tim Drake/Robin.

I think I can finally put into words why both creators and us fans seem to be trapped in an endless loop of reboots. Not just comics, but most media including movies.

Eventually no matter how good any DC project is, it will eventually overstay its welcome if it runs too long and decay. The DCAU ended at the right time. We all agree things are a mess, and we need to start over, but the solution is flawed.

Everyone thinks the solution is for someone to become an autistic dictator and micromanage the hell out of everything. A “genius” that will decide the origins of every character, their tone, looks, and their personalities etc.

An autistic dictator not to be confused with an editor (though they do overlap) or a “project lead” (i.e Bruce Timm), Is an opinionated fan that wants everything to cater to their own tastes. Ever wondered why Greg Weisman went insane with Young Justice bloating the hell out of it? This is why. He is talented but he feels the need to fix the whole of DC instead of staying in his lane which was “a core cast of Teenage heroes”

Ask yourself this, why should a guy that really only cares about Batman, decide that the JSA never existed, or that the SHAZAM family is too cheesy, or that Power Girl is too redundant? Or that the Legion of Supeheroes have no place in the modern age?Etc

In other words instead of one guy deciding everything, why not instead just let whomever has the best idea for each character take the lead? And if the idea is too incompatible to be from the same universe, then so be it, give them their own universe. That’s how cartoons have been successful for so long.

If someone has a kickass idea for Powergirl, or the legion of superheroes etc, just let them. Don’t micromanage them

Let Znyder do a Supergirl movie, he will save the genre and destroy MCUcks once again

Heh, the Knightfall trailer does show AzBats' derpy suit in all of its 90s glory! Cutting it in 3 parts reeks like desperation to me, as WB is clearly incapable of doing anything non-woke and/or trash these days, so they'll squeeze out everything of what should be remotely good.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=TJ-T_wO93xsWB is ramping up their marketing and product placement efforts for Supergirl compared to their previous campaign for James Gunn’s Superman. This includes leveraging Milly Alcock to promote makeup products. However, the actress and director have both expressed that Supergirl does not wear makeup in the film.
That actually makes sense because the movie itself seems to be a warning about what women without makeup look like.

All she had to say is that this movie doesn't alienate anyone and that's it.

I don't think much of James Gunn and I didn't like his Superman, but I expect that Supergirl will be a flop. If his Superman can't even top Man of Steel, this Supergirl doesn't have a prayer.

Gunn is a one-trick pony imo: Beyond a few films like Brightburn, he shines in making violent films involving large casts of usually obscure characters that he can change to whatever suits him. That is what his Superman was: the titular character was poorly characterised in favour of the extras, which is why characters like Mr. Terrific and Guy Gardner stood out over Cuck Kent, who had to keep calling his dog to save him and got petty over social media types calling him names. Superman needed the fortitude and inspirational strength to back up this notion of being an optimist vs. her realist perspective, and I got no impression of that - he just played bitch to everyone else.

Milly Alcock's Supergirl has nothing going for her. She's a shitty dog owner, a drunk, and a bitch all in one. Gal Gadot's first Wonder Woman succeeded by being the polar opposite. Perhaps Gunn was trying to take a page out of the first Captain Marvel to sell this movie's image, but this film doesn't follow up from some 17 already successful predecessors and the subsequent legion of idiots willing to be duped.
