Personally I think part of why I also like Keaton as Batman is because I prefer Batman on the leaner side.
I understand why people think Batman should be like 6'2 and built like a tank but honestly I feel like Batman being on the leaner side of things would make more sense since stealth is a big part of the character and well, him being built like gorilla makes that a bit less reasonable.

If we're going to keep with the batman realism shit I honestly think a faster more lean Batman makes the most sense as opposed to him being a built like a body builder. Obviously there should still be muscle but not so much it would impede his movement or ability to sneak and such.

But that's my own faggy opinion.

That's part of what I was getting at earlier with the Pattinson Batman. He is tall and fit and looks like he can fight, but his body is more lean and gymnastic than body-builder. The Reeves Batman looks more limber, more stealthy than the Affleck, Bale and Keaton ones. Keaton could barely move in that suit and had a big yellow symbol on the front of it. And whenever he moved on camera it was very stiff.

but he's over 6' and in great shape. And at 37

37 is way past his prime and while keaton was 4 inches shorter he didn't look like he's been a Rekieta level alcoholic his entire life to the point where you can tell which shots are from which phase of reshoots in his films. Also i feel like a taller "more attractive" man would be less likely to go nuts and start fighting people. There's a reason Jack Reacher always does everything in self defense. tall men aren't known for using the "first move advantage" Even when you look at weight classes in combat sports, the shorter ones in their weight class fight a lot fucking harder. You know who else was 5'10 and regularly scared the fuck out of guys a half foot and 2 stone bigger than him? a man named Mike Tyson.

people dont seem to realize how recent physical fitness really is, Adam West was their era's version of MCU levels of fit. its like how Robin "the boy wonder" literally wasn't even old enough to vote during the first season despite looking older than Robert Pattinson. everyone growing up in the shadow of the great depression and ww2 aged the fuck out of everyone, same thing with the smoking as vape nation has shown when it comes to zoomers.

Armie Hammer can act okay-ish and has the physical presence

you probably weren't intentionally doing it, but Filthy Frank George Miller's Justice League would have been terrible. all the criticisms of Man of steel were right there, literally the neck snapping and dark tone. The justice league does fuck all but Batman looks like the biggest piece of shit overall. I think Superman dies too, and i know the flash does. Overall it would have been the classic late 2000s/early 2010s misfire that a lot of "franchise starting" movies had in that era.

He's a fun character and I'm looking forward to the tie in series.

oh yeah, the movie is very much sword and sandal stuff, but the mask guy has a lot of shots, poses, and general style that are reminiscent of Batman, or at least struck the crew I was watching with and me as very Batman-y, especially for a guy without a cape or bat stuff

To be fair though that was moreso a limitation of the costume than the actor. I'm pretty sure in-canon he's able to move just fine and in most versions the bat symbol is the most armored part of the suit, probably because he fully expects people will try to shoot him there first and foremost.

But back to the costume it's mentioned in behind the scenes that the reason for why Keaton Batman moves the way he does is because of the way the costume is designed. He literally can't turn his head or it'll rip the costume. And like all Batman costumes it was pretty fucking hot too.

Same thing for Bale's Batman I think he could only turn his head so far as well and I know heat was definitely a problem in his costume. Think they had to have those portable air conditioners inside the costume just so he wouldn't die of heat stroke while filming.

Hilariously I remember reading somewhere that Pattison outright requested a costume he'd be able to move relatively freely in. I think he even said his costume was outright comfortable compared to the old outfits. (Apparently he tried on each one?) Granted this is all from articles which I may or may not be misremembering so apologies if I'm incorrect here.

I always just assumed that canonically none of this was the case. Batman's suit is probably just made from some magic bullshit bat fiber that controls heat or something so he doesn't have a fucking stroke while running around.

iirc there's no small amount of times when the batcowl is pretty clearly flopping around a good half inch or more away from Keaton's batjaw

Yes, Keaton's immobility is certainly in significant part due to the costume. But my critique is of the overall outcome, not seeking to put it on Keaton on that - I like him as an actor. For example, aside from the costume there's also just the style of directing. The Burton movies aren't really about fancy action and verisimilitude in combat. Anything but, really. That again is not Keaton's fault but leads to the overall outcome which is that the Keaton Batman doesn't really feel like the ninja type. His being shorter and less muscled doesn't like some RPG game with a fixed number of character points, suddenly make him also more agile or more stealthy.

You mention the Pattinson suit. That's probably my favourite. The Bale one looks like something which (allowing for comics logic) is something for brawling in, tanking punches and bullets. It's not bad. And they even in-joke in the second movie about wanting to be able to turn his head more. The Batfleck suit looks like a rougher, tougher version of more classic comics. It's... interesting. Pattison suit is to me very much the one that actually looks like something you could run and fight in whilst still looking quite armoured. It even has a few gadgets built in.

Keaton was the best Batman and will always be the best Batman. But he was immobile!!! Yeah, and he looked awesome the way he would do that cape swirl and half-turn because he couldn't turn his head.

Blue Beatle is a movie for retarded babies. Decent first hour if you can stomach the constant reggaeton or whatever the damn it is, but the second half turned into a full-blown quirky, random nightmare made for literal toddlers. Not only is there an attack on the Mexican hero's house that is made to look like an ICE raid complete with families being torn out of each other's arms, but it ramps up the Millennial writing to 11 by having the entire family of 5-foot-tall illegal immigrants and anchor babies take up alien arms and start slaughtering a techno-army while quipping in Spanglish and posing comically like it's the Saint's Row reboot. There's a big dramatic scene that is instantly undercut by having chubby George Lopez dressed like a trailer park cracker posing dramatically while floating away beneath a space ship.

Also, it continues Hollywood's blatant racism towards Latinos and Hispanics by showing them either as illegal immigrants or anchor babies. According to DC, no Mexicans existed in the United States until after 2000 when they came here illegally.

I tried watching this but turned it off early on when the beetle’s got Jaime dangling from the kitchen ceiling, screaming as what would be a horrifying experience for him is taking place, and George Lopez shouts “You scared the frijoles out of me!”

I liked the movie fine as well. Keaton's portrayal as Batman has given such a bum rep, especially before the movie's release when he was announced to be Batman, and even right now he's getting flack and I don't get why. He's not a bad Batman all things considered

He himself is good. The movies are good. In so far as my own comments in this thread they're not condemnations of either. What I said was that I lean towards an intimidating and dangerous Batman and he (barring Adam West which is excluded from all comparisons to other Batmans) is the least in those categories. Enjoy the movies as fun Tim Burton style pieces, as fun romps or to see Jack Nicholson or Danny Devito chewing scenery like it's made out of candy. I enjoyed them both when they came out. But the person trying to argue that Keaton was the most "lethal killing machine" Batman because "he takes villains out in one punch" in one of the stylised iterations of the character or that things like Keaton barely being able to move don't cause problems was and remains an idiot.

You made a general comment and I'm only speaking for myself. But as someone who's taken my own flak for preferring Pattinson over Keaton, I thought I'd reply. They're excellent movies for their style. I think it's absurd to say that they're better by the criteria of a different style. It's entirely justifiable to say that the Keaton Batman is not intimidating. That's not what you watch those movies for.
