I've been thinking about the phrase "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade". I know it's such an old cliche - but I'm going to use it straight. No Portal 2 references.

Phil can't make lemonade. Or in real terms: he has no imagination or ability to adapt. He simply will not consider any other lifestyle choice. He can only live in that house; he can only sit in that corner of that room and grind out 6 hours of shtreaming khantent per day. If he sells the house, he "loses" at life. The end. No Plan B.

It's so frustrating -- losing that house is not the end! It's not failure! (Well it is... he's a total financial fuck-up... but that's not my point...) Phil has a job that he could literally perform from almost any small room in America. Plenty of successful kids on Twitch do the same job from bedrooms and small apartments. It's not like Phil ever made the most of his "office" space -- he's pointed the camera at the same corner of the room since 2014. Moving to a smaller property should be an adventure... an opportunity to relaunch and reinvent his content. At the very least it would be a long-overdue change of scenery. He and Kat could vlog about the move to a smaller house. He could turn it into a redemption story about good ol' humble Phil going back to his roots.

Make lemonade!!

JUST SELL YOUR FUCKING HOUSES, PHIL.

I know his excuses:
"Another location won't have business-class internet" (Look into it, millions of homes can!)
"Another property won't have sound insulation so I can't make noise and do my job" (So take your current insulation and buy some more)
"Another property won't have a dedicated office room" (Too bad, use your bedroom while Kat uses the living room)
"Another location will have more taxes" (Because that worked out so well in Washington)
"If it snows I can't shovel it because of my back..." (You never leave the house anyway)

All of these excuses are just Phil not knowing how to make lemonade. The only serious reason I can think for Phil to need to stay in that big house: His long-term debt strategy absolutely hinges on remortaging the house. He is staring into the terrifying vortex of life-long debt, and he's gambled everything on the Gout Mansion, in which case he's even more screwed than we think.

Última edición:
To be fair, Twitch changed a few smaller things in the last years so it's possible I'm not up-to-date. But I never heard of that or seen anyone who behaves like that, except for Phil. And I also never experienced any problem. What I agree on is the prohibition of gaming related streams on multiple platforms, because of exclusivity. However, some people state they can't find even this clause in their contract, even when it would make sense.
But that would be quite strange when everyone can upload his own stream right away through the Twitch-tools itself. And I obviously never heard of that and I've never seen this behaviour by any Twitch-partner, and they are bigger ones so they don't fly under the radar. This could also be a myth and DSP believes it. Or he is in a newer contract which only affects people like him.

But when the source is only Phil, I won't believe that statement.

Edit: And even when he's not allowed to upload his streams before 24 hours pass by, there is still no good argument for deleting all of his VODs. He is totally allowed to keep them.

Well the 24 hour thing is mentioned clearly, however its very confusing exactly what it means:

There's a reddit thread on the topic here:

A lot of people have pointed this rule out to Phil in the past:

Its possible DSP's contract includes a specific clause about this shit, but the other confusing part is that he is not an "affiliate" but a partner, so its entirely probably that no one on earth can explain this shit properly.

So, Phil has more wiggle room, once again? Guess his cockroach luck went into effect after that second twitch ban

Funny when you consider from what I remember reading about his gated community, he’s not suppose to be running a business out of his home anyway.

Huh?? Maybe I'm misunderstanding how apartment rules work, but far as I know, neighbors make all the noise they want between daylight hours, and Phil certainly doesn't make enough noise to warrant an eviction. The guy just sheepishly cries "kham aaaaahn."

We all know the real reason: He's afraid of dealing with people who get angry at him. Like his neighbor telling him to shut up through the damn wall. Phil would pack up and leave in an instant if one of his neighbors came around telling that he's making enough noise to bother someone in his ghated khammunity.

Either they don't know, don't care, or they want nothing to do with him so they try to ignore it to the best of their abilities (the guy pays his rent and never goes outside to bug anyone, so whatever.)

This exchange is so perfect; someone comes out and tries to offer Phil genuine advice (you can tell it's genuine because they do not tag Twitch or appear to be trying to "narc" on him) and his response is a "nice try. . ." as if the person giving the advice is trying to show him up, and not perhaps, just as informed about the finer details.

. . .and the guy wonders why people are throwing up their hands with him.

I mean you can't go hog wild; nothing I hear from Phil would even come close to violating any noise policies an apartment complex would have. Even at night there are some apartments that are so well insulated that you aren't going to hear your neighbors. It's clearly him fumbling for a reason to stay in WA, when a path forward is actually open to him.

Yeah most apartments that aren't slums have "Quiet Hours." These are usually between 9pm and 9am. Phil might not be able to put sound proofing foam on the walls of an apartment because it may damage the walls depending on what he uses to attach it. Phil, being lazy, would probably use some type of adhesive. Regardless, he has like 12 squares of foam. It's not doing anything.

You hit the nail on the head. He's hinted at this many times. That house IS his plan B. If he can only hold on long enough, that house is gonna take care of all his financial troubles. Unfortunately, the bank is a detractor & won't let him leverage any more debt yet. Bastards.

Why does he have a tax attorney.

Fucking HR Block could handle this shit for a tenth of the cost.

At most a smaller CPA office (of which any major city like Seattle has tons) would be able to handle his tax filing.

I just don't understand why he insists on overpaying and then bitches about it.
phil? overpaying? paying for the most expensive thing when a cheaper version does just fine? perish the thought

I'm sure someone can correct me on the exact video but in one of his sf4 videos whilst chimping out someone clearly bangs on his wall to tell him to STFU, in another he's clearly aware he's made to much noise and can here someone outside so goes dead silent for around five minutes....so yeah he couldn't handle that shit

State of WA probably sent him a form letter that said "Hey, we see you're a business and haven't paid taxes. We're gonna need you to get shit together and figure how much you owe!" in plain and simple language. But, there was probably the bit towards the bottom that said "Failure to comply means we will put a tax lien on everything you own, your house, your nonexistent wolverine figurine, all your collectibles, and we'll take it all and force you to live back in the kahndo."

Phil flipped his shit, called his cpa back in CT who promptly said "Not my cows, not my barn, figure it out." Then he Googled tax attorney slash tax accountants in WA, and got three Lionel Hutz equivalent to tax prep guys. Premium price, dollar tree service.

Yeah, this triggered me too.

Some guy who, at face value has no snark or attitude and doesn't appear to be 'detracting', comes in and seems to just be making a recommendation to help him not run afoul of Twitch TOS, and he just HAS to close it out with three completely unnecessary words to come off as a total dick.

Just one more of the reasons why I will never bring myself to have one bit of sympathy for how things, no matter how fucked up they might end up as, eventually turn out for him.

Literally, all he has to do is give his response / present his info as far as he understands it. MAYBE even throw in a, 'Hey, but thanks for looking out!'?

Instead, total fucking cunt smh.

Phil need to realize, just because he plays a new release that doesn't mean people will sub.there are youtubers thst are bringing in huge numbers just by playing fortnight.

Isnt asking for twitch subs for IRL favours againts the ToS?
He said if someone gift a lot of subs, he will put a game on a poll, guaranteed... what about this?

Heyja, just flying in with something that has nothing to do with anything right now, except DSP of course.

Doesn't Phil look really professional and like an active livestreamer when the last video or even highlight was from March 2017? This just screams: "Oh watch me, I do many streams", right? So how often does this Phil-guy stream? I dunno. I watched him right now (someone might say) but other than that, I dunno, maybe he's not worth of my support.

I sure get why Phil deletes every VOD, so he can squeeze more money on Youtube where he can actively decide the amount of ads. Ya know, Youtube, the website he calls his archive so this strategy contradicts his statement? Yeah, he is also not very aware of the basic fact that Twitch also has ads, not only when people start watching his livestream, but also on every VOD and every highlight. Each ad states the following: "This Ad supports [Name]". For a guy who wants to make livestreams his livelihood, this is an idiotic behaviour.

So from my own experiences, here the following (:powerlevel:): The ad revenue on Youtube is higher than on Twitch, sure. But the most money comes from subscribers and this amount overshadows Youtube by far. So I would do anything possible to make my Twitch-channel more appealing.
He's also not very aware that he has basically 2 fanbases, one for each website (which can overlap of course). People on Youtube don't necessarily want to watch him on Twitch and vice versa. The audience on Youtube also doesn't necessarily like his uploaded livestreams because they don't want to hear the cheering, subs and tips or his interaction with the audience, maybe they just want to see Phil play the goddamn game and his focus on it.

Phil needs to stop hiding his content and give it free on both sides. But I know why he won't do that. VODs are the full content and he can't Start/Stop to decide which lie people will hear. Detractors could use his statements against him, even so he has full control over what he says (okay, fine, he has no control over his vocal garbage). And setting highlights is like cutting a video and a Phil would never do that, too much work!

This is just another mirror which reflects Phil's incompetence and lazyness.
Honestly he could have his cake and eat it too if he just edited his videos like every other streamer that posts on YouTube. Every time he wraps up a play through of a game he can just splice together the best moments from all the streams into an easy to watch montage. He wouldn't lose out on this anyway by his logic since YouTube doesn't matter to him anymore beyond the pennies he can squeeze from that stone.

His logic on not doing that is that he doesn't wanna lose his unique selling point as being the only guy who does "raw unedited content" but at this point that ship has long sailed. At this point he's just like every other no-talent hack streamer that are a dime a dozen these days so he should just accept his fate and go lowest common denominator.
