From what I know its a lot more popular in the UK and many non-US countries (correct me if I'm wrong) so I'd be interested to know why the fuck Phil picked up this particular spirit as his drink of choice.

Gin is the dry, bitter spirit. Some people (including myself) prefer that taste. It's really as simple as that.

On the whole random letters thing, i honestly think its all to cover up the dead brother backlash, he was up late dealing with a load of people on the subject, knew it was wrong but at this point cant just say "i fucked up" he's too stubborn, so i think he might have tweeted randomly to get people thinking wtf.

If he's getting blackout levels of drunk, then he's doing an extremely good job of masking it.

If he's going to bed at ~6:00 AM and then streaming at ~12:30 PM that means he's sleeping a maximum of 6-8 hours each night.
It isn't easy to appear 'normal' after just 6-8 hours, especially since he doesn't eat breakfast.

I can appreciate that. Different folks/different strokes and all that. I've always seen it as a bit more of a 'refined' drink that older people have (because they don't care as much about getting shitcanned all the time)

Does Phil drink it neat or does he use any form of mixer? If he's drinking with tonic, then that stuff tastes like fucking ass and I'd be surprised if he can get properly shit canned that way.

That's always confused me too. Are we sure he actually still drinks it? He put some equally vile mint whiskey on instagram at some point. Maybe he picked it up from his parents? I think gin used to be more popular than it is now.

In his recent impromptu Q&A video (17:34) he talks about drinks he likes such as beer, gin and tonic rum and coke and different kinds of whiskey that he 'likes now for some reason' also vodka. For all we know he's mixing his gin with v8.

I don't like bombay sapphire, I wouldn't recommend it for your first gin because it probably just put you off with its perfume like smell.

I get Phil is an adult, and can pretty much do what he wants, but his drinking during the "work week" is concerning--especially if he gets brown or blackout drunk and finds himself on social media.
