TBF even back in the day the gamepro and whatever other magazines had plenty of negative reviews just shitting on games that are seen as cult classics now and plenty of overly positive reviews for dogshit games so it really has never changed. More games come out on average now so more games suck it's just how it works but it is true that budgets are sky high, dev time is long as fuck and the games are just mid on average at least from an AAA perspective.Probably unpopular opinion, but I don't believe today's games are worse than the ones from 10 or 20 years ago. The biggest change is the appearance of negative reviewers. People with hundreds of thousands, sometimes even millions, subscribers whose job is to explain why the newest game X sucks. Get enough of this content and you'll eventually start to believe them. I did a small experiment - I ignored them completely and started judging games on their own merit. Lo and behold, suddenly my experience with newer titles improved substantially.
That was such a great opportunity for him to lean into his infamy and interact with the trolls. But no, like always the only thing he tried was running away. Poorly.
Personally I have more games to play then ever that are all great but I don't play AAA shit if you only play AAA shit or only first party games from Nintendo or Sony you are probably seething because it has been pretty fucking bad game wise so I can understand the negativity.
