Is he... Is he using AI to take a still from his shitty stream and add a smile? I didn't watch, but I REALLY doubt he was smiling. And it looks a little odd. But maybe that's just him being an alien trying to communicate human emotions.

eta- nope, I was wrong. What he did was sit there like a moron after he recorded it and took a separate picture of himself where he's pretending to smile and be happy. It looks like a toddler when their mommy says "okay smile for the camera Phillip"

This one is a frame from the stream, but it's funny; he wasn't even smiling, he was saying 'inside" and it still looks a hell of a lot more natural than the daily crap.

No it's just that the algo that Youtube uses to autogenerate thumbnails prioritizes still frames that denote "action" and one of those are frames of smiling faces, or still frames where the person appears to be smiling in this case.

Well like I said in the edit, the Daily Cope thumbnail wasn't from the stream from what I could see; he sat down after the fact and smiled into the camera like a retard. The Virtual Boy thumbnail actually looked better to me, but he wasn't trying to smile he was saying the word "inside".

I could be mistaken but I think YouTube has a "thumbnail recommendation" feature and that's what he's using. From my search engine's AI generated response: "YouTube automatically selects a frame from the stream to use as the thumbnail for the recorded video." I assume that is what he is using, just adding his shitty text on top.

The thing is, reviewing KO Gaming watching ALT he did at one point understand thumbnail basics. He's dumb, but he does understand some of the basic concepts like "intriguing title get clicks" he's just so. Fucking. Lazy. There are endless resources on making good thumbnails, YouTube itself has tools to compare so that you can dial in tiny changes to further optimize. And it's not something you need a degree for. You can create the bones then have AI finish it off if you're too lazy or stupid.

Now, don't get me wrong, the way he does videos now with dozens of unedited parts isn't ever gonna get views (no one is clicking on "part 43" when they haven't seen the rest), especially given how boring he is. But you gotta start somewhere if you want to improve. Doing anything is better than doing nothing. Unfortunately for Phil, doing nothing and begging for help are all he's capable of.

This whole Virtual Boy commentary was some real Andy Kaufman shit.

Many here have said that if Phil had actually been a character and he just dropped it one day in the middle of it all that it’d make him his generation’s Kaufman. I used to be one of them, except now I think he’s stepped far past what any sane person would stop at in the name of trolling entertainment. Kaufman got his ass beat repeatedly (and several of those being involved with pro wrestling, and how much it fit with Andy’s blurring of kayfabe, it was always a question of how much of it was a work), sure, but he was young, and definitely mentally ill, and very likely on drugs.

I’ll grant you Phil himself meets two of those three as it is, but even Kaufman didn’t intentionally tank his credit. And Kaufman never did anything if it wasn’t to entertain, even if it was only himself. Phil has never been intentionally entertaining a day in his life.

At this point I feel like peepul are just saying this every week because every week is so insane. There have been years at a time in the snortex that have mostly just been boring other than the occasional gold dust or spike in mental illness that made following it worthwhile, but the last year or two have just been escalating insanity.

I've been thinking to myself lately, "there's no way he can top last year's birthday marathon stream though, right?" Like that was just one of the most pathetic streams I've ever seen. The awful meal Kat supposedly prepared for him that made him start crying about how happy they are and how he thinks she should be a chef. The "do you guys like me?" moment. The constant pathetic slurring begs for his whales to get him over 3000 dollars to felt those meanies at the casino (who he actually snaked btw).

But I gotta say I'm beginning to believe. You can do it, Phil! Make 44 even more embarrassing than 43!

Sounds like we're about due for another random person, whether another content creator or just a new massive whale, to show up and stick their nose into the dsp universe and hand this guy another lifeboat.

Its like there's some magical force in the universe that wont ever just let this guy's decline reach its logical conclusion. There's always some person or event to show up and save him and get him through the next 6 to 12 months until the next random event comes to take over for the next 6 to 12 months, etc, etc and its just an endless cycle.

Right now we're just in the transition period where the asmongold bump is being handed off to whatever is going to save him next.

It's such a stereotype about Phil that he also constantly talks about his online legacy. I've been in the snortex for less than a year and I gotta say I've basically never been bored. Sure, he's boring, but wait a week and he'll do something so insane it gets interesting again. 2026 in particular I have really enjoyed thus far.

It's always tempting for me to say "this is it, it's over, he's gonna go broke or have to get a job" but this dude has an amazing track record of some force bailing him out at the last minute, and always to his detriment. Short-term it allows him to continue his pathetic existence but he has never faced a challenge he's had to overcome on his own and thus lacks any of the skills necessary to do so. It's an endless road of rakes for him to step in, but every time he's about to be forced to sit down and think about how to proceed someone dangles a dollar bill on a fishing line and gets him right back to stepping on rakes again.
