I love how Phil, once again, fucks things up for himself because he’s dumb as a sack of rocks, and trolls goaded him into something.

But… Why exactly is he deleting memberships and changing tiers around?

Just to “spite” the trolls or what?

The only argument that made a tiiiiny amount of sense was: “If all these 5 cent members submit clips to the channel dood, I will never be able to watch them all! There are too many!”

(Aside from the fact that there’s no reason to assume they all will submit clips and he can just you know: Not watch them all?”

Notice how he very carefully avoided talking about dollars and cents and exactly how much he’s making in members, instead of a vague “37 percent dood!”

The pignosis was also in full effect as Phil implied that he was somehow losing money on Argentinian troll members.

Gifting memberships is the kind of tard-narc food these whales like.

Not only can they see the 50 members they donated every day for a month.
They also get publicly recognized by both Phil, dents and detractors, in a way that a PayPal tip doesn’t.

I could totally see Phil lose some money on this.

When Phil went back to YT after getting the boot from Twitch, his number 1 complaint was YT's lack of gifted memberships. He got a lot of gifted memberships on Twitch, and those people weren't converting to from memberships to gifts, for whatever reason.

Once YT enabled gifting, Phil's memberships shot up and have stayed inflated ever since. If the gifters wouldn't tip before when Phil was begging them to, I don't see why they would change now.

This entire membership saga has been successful at derailing Phil's business, and in typical Phil fashion, he let everyone know exactly how devastating the effect was.

Is January even slow for Ad Revenue, because I know that is one thing he bitches about. I'm sure ad revenue fluctuates a little depending on the time of the year, but I can't see ad revenue slumping hard in December. I have to go on a limb here and assume that the November-December ad revenue is actually higher than average due to Thanksgiving and Christmas and goes back to normal in January.

Yeah January is a bit of a slump. No holidays, plus everyone is kinda tapped out after christmas. People gotta refill their coffers you know. So its not even like back to normal, it is just genuinely a dip. Even for entertainment and like grocery stores, which are usually always trucking. Hollywood knows people spend less and belts get tightened a little after all the feasting and gift giving. Its why they push gift cards so hard. Aside from how few get used, thus free money. It still means people go out and still shop.

So I just took a short google search and from what I could find is that active members CAN'T get a gifted membership unless the membership expired. I assume that Phil's "real" fans have autorenewal active so they might contribute every month with their usual payment. So either these member gifts run into the void or get heaped on trolls or even view bots. So Phil is basically back to where he started when he began full streaming on youtube again. Nearly 350 members and nothing else. And he survived that too. Looks like he simply cant keep his urge to spend spend spend in check. So it is a -heh- skill issue

Edit: I can't believe DSP mentioned Null today and how Null hates shit touchers.
