The shooting took place while Chud was already out on bond for several other crimes. We don't exactly know the totality of evidence the prosecutors have at this moment, but the evidence that we do know they have seems to be strongly against Chud. It's also not entirely out of the ordinary to have seven figure bond sums in very high-profile cases like this one. I'm somewhat surprised they simply didn't allow a bond or bail in this instance.
