Crime D4vd Arrested for Murder of Celeste Rivas - Groomer turned baby mama murderer finally gets comeuppance

Singer D4vd has been arrested for the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was found dead in Hollywood in the trunk of his Tesla in September.

According to the LAPD, D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was arrested by the Robbery-Homicide Division for the murder of Hernandez and is being held without bail. The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday for filing consideration.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed they were investigating a trip the 21-year-old took to the Santa Barbara area sometime during the spring of 2025 following Hernandez’s death. A spokesman for the musician said in September that he was “fully cooperating with authorities,” though as of Nov. 18 NBC Los Angeles reported Burke was no longer cooperating with law enforcement.

Officers were called to a tow yard on Sept. 8 following reports of a foul odor coming from the car, which had been on the property for several days. Police found a dismembered body that had been placed inside of a bag in the front trunk of the vehicle.

The car was registered in Hempstead, Texas to Burke and impounded after being abandoned in the Hollywood Hills, where neighbors complained of a rotting smell. As of Sept. 9, the case was being treated as a death investigation.

Hernandez was reported missing from her home in Lake Elsinore, Calif., last year. She was last seen in April 2024, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. After her body was found, police said that because a manner of death had not been determined.

Shortly after the discovery, Burke quietly canceled his U.S. tour and postponed the promotion of his deluxe album.

Not quite, you can still use them but the judge has to do some BS tests to show that they have relevance and that their value outweighs the potential prejudice. In this case the songs would almost certainly pass the test given they're about the victim and their relationship, which is directly relevant to the alleged motive.

This wasn't his permanent plan for disposing of the body, he never intended on police finding it in a car registered in his name. Keep in mind that the only reason the corpse was even discovered after half a year is because someone reported the car as abandoned, it was towed, and David didn't notice the car had gone missing for 2 days because he was on tour. He bought a burn cage on Amazon so I guess his plan was to eventually incinerate the remains.

It's possible he just felt safer stashing it somewhere nearby that he felt more in control of, like a nigger version of The Tell-Tale Heart. My guess is that he wanted it close enough to where he could go to revisit it (and there's some evidence to this effect in the filing) in order to observe the process of decay, because he seems sexually fixated on that kind of thing (the tour he was on while Rivas's body was rotting in his car was called the "Withered" tour), but he had to move it some distance away from his house because of the smell.

This is somewhat plausible, maybe he is legitimately out of touch with reality in a disorganized schizo kind of way and was so obsessed with Rivas that he couldn't bring himself to part with her remains. He had plenty of opportunity to incinerate her and throw what was left into the river, or whatever, but he didn't. There is likely a bit more to it than just being dumb and lazy. He's a sick twisted individual, and this might've been his corrupted idea of feeling "love" for her. The subject matter of his album certainly points in that direction. That said, he probably isn't that schizo considering he went on tour and did his job just fine. And he did make an attempt, lame as it was, at subterfuge with the "where r u" texts sent after he killed her.

I think he REALLY hoped the car would be stolen or otherwise vandalized/broken into so he could claim the body was planted. Wouldn't be surprised if he left the keys in it and stuff trying to get it lifted. Car theft is really prolific in that area.

That was my working theory, once I learned that the parking spot where he left the car was right outside his fucking house. I'm not sure how hard it is to steal a Tesla, I know basically nothing about newer cars with their keyless ignitions and the rest of the shitty distracting gizmos and surveillance equipment they all come with now (and, ideally, would like to keep it that way). Has there been any mention of where the key fob was? If it was dropped on some random sidewalk a few blocks away that'd suggest he was banking on some fentanyl enthusiast stealing it and taking a joyride, getting pulled over, the cops finding the body in the trunk, and the car thieving bum with a giant rap sheet is now left to try and convince everyone they didn't do it.

Reading more of these details coming out make it even more interesting. Its like this guy had an obsession with the girl, artistry, and possibly the occult or something.

That said all of the material evidence is extremely damning. At one point Celeste's parents wised up a little and took her phone. Realizing he was a bad influence (that he was a legal adult and she was 14 aside). Old boy here found one of her classmates on Discord and paid him $1000 to deliver a phone to her so they could stay in contact. Probably the very phone she had when she came to his house and was killed!

A county road worker found the girl's passport card (because she's Mexican) on the road between LA and Santa Barbara where he tried to dispose of evidence. Most likely he used Android Auto on his Tesla so the route and time is also cleanly recorded.

All the guy can hope for is a hail mary with nogs acquitting him for OJ type reasons.

Part of me really want to know how much of this was planned vs spare of the moment, from what I've read and seen about this case it's like he did it in the heat of the moment but did have some concept of a plan in his mind but didn't even half arse the execution of the plan leading to him getting caught and I get the feeling he didn't do this on his own others where at least aware that something was up if not exactly what.

I'm curious about his living situation though I've read mixed reports of it being his house or one he shared with his parents, and hiding a dead body is hard let alone a site where you've disarticulated a body, it's not like hiding a broken household item or some contraband you've smuggled into the house and bodies get smelly fast. And if you cut up a body unless your extremely well prepared and skilled there is obvious even to a lay person bits of evidence around.

I feel sorry for the poor girl, she fell into the orbit of someone older in a community that doesnt give two shits as long as "your getting yours" with parents that only marginally seemed to care about her.
