It was a one shot.

What will be funny is since they film on a porn set, when they do the porn spoof of this, they can use the real set.
Did they actually manage to get through an H.P. Lovecraft-based stream without virtue signaling even once about how "H.P. Lovecraft was a racist, and he needs to be canceled." (despite them using his "racist" setting anyway)? Don't even bother answering that question. I see both Taliesin and Liam in that thumbnail. There is literally no way in hell that one of them didn't feel the need to do just that.

My morbid curiosity got the better of me. Not even 5 minutes in, and Taliesin (who is GMing this) felt the need to virtue signal against Lovecraft, despite totally stealing his setting. What a fucking faggot. But I already thought that about him.

>Says that no one has done the GAEMS ARE SRS BSNS routine
>proceeds to do the GAEMS ARE SRS BSNS routine

1. This is what I am talking about, people get really fucking mad at other people playing the game differently from them. What's even the points of shitting your pants in public like this?

2. If any of those guys had made the point, that this is shit cause it makes a bunch of CR retards fanboys think that's how the game should be and thus infect other playgroups, I'd be in agreement (fuck, I made the same point myself in the very first reply to this thread!), but none of you guys did.

3. It's all about "They are playing the game wrong". I could swear you're bunch of Germans, given how they tend to explain to others how they should do their mutual hobby """correctly""".
:story:

4. Why is this even a problem? The game is meant to be entertaining, the stream is meant to be entertainment. If it's not all genuine, that's a bummer, but it's not much of an issue. If you dislike it, fine. I'm not a fan myself, not by any stretch of the word, but getting this mad over 6 yokels playing a game online is just plain fucking silly.
TLDR: CR Fanfucks are like any fair weather sports fans (Especially Philly Eagles fans) and they need their expectations reset before you waste your time with them in your game.

1. If MM was running"My LIttle Pony: Friends are Magic" it would fit in more with how MM removes any death/consequence for the PC's. This then translates back into when CR fanfucks join the game and wonder why it's not EZ-MODE and they die and ragequit because they aren't special and invincible given the PC's 20 different ways out by MM to not go through with the stupid thing they are trying to do.

2. Horse shit. I made the note several times that CR fanfucks expect DM's to pull out CR level of Production in their games and get all butthurt/sad/ragequit when it's not the same as paid Actor's.

3. Run the Game how you want to run the game, I'm free to hate on how he runs the game, and he's free to hate on how I run the game, and you are free to agree/disagree with both of us. I'm not suggesting in any way, shape, or form that MM STOP gaming. Please continue to entertain and bring the hobby to the masses. The core issue that many of us have is the CR fanfucks (much like fair weather sports fans) expect a level of gameplay Production that MOST GM's just cannot or will not pull off that high level. Keeping voice in character, having lots of props, getting people organized, and providing a fun and entertaining game is work. Until people set foot into a GM's seat their gaming life is fucking cake: show up, roll dice, play your PC leave.

This is why I have had multiple people wash out of my games because I'm not like what they thought of when watching CR and playing in D&D. This is disheartening and disruptive as I have to then replace these people with others and it does weigh on a person when someone is not having fun at the gaming table as you want everyone to enjoy the game. This is why many of the above folks say "We aren't CR, don't expect that level, reset what you think this game may be about, come in expecting NOT-CR." and prospective players get pissy and walk away. Considering that a large majority of TTRPG folks are introverted nerds that rejection takes it's toll on the ole confidence level, you want everyone to like the game and it's disappointing when people don't.

4. This is like any fandom or shared experience (See Star Wars, Star Trek, Anime, Board Games, etc.) where people have wildly different expectations of what the game "should" be about. Hence why there are people still playing 1st Edition all the way to 5E and everything in between just for D&D and some folks agree that "OMG 1E IS BEST! 5E=VIDYA" and "Fuk that Grognzard Shit EL OH EL 4E!". It's how ENWorld and Rpg.net stay around because for all the ragesperging everyone is genuinely happy they are able to enjoy a hobby collectively.

dont let them touch cyberpunk

sidenote: did they touch cyberpunk?
Isn't Cyberpunk supposed to be like super unforgiving? Like spend a good amount of time building your character up only to get immediately destroyed in combat? Can't imagine they'd play it unless CPRed completely changed things or if they just do DnD in the Cyberpunk setting.

They haven't, but I wouldn't put it past them.

They had a Doom oneshot as a way to advertise Eternal's release, something like that could happen for a update/DLC/expansion of 2077, if CDPR ever get around to it

On a different topic: Anyone here been keeping up with that Exandria Unlimited shit?

I checked out the wiki page on it and every character seems to be the worst type of quirky faggot. Has anything memeworthy happened in the campaign yet?

I watched about an hour of the first episode and came to the same conclusion you did from reading that wiki. They spent about half of that time clearly indulging in *somebody's* (If I had to guess, I would guess it was Mercer's) scat fetish, which ultimately noped me the fuck out of it.
Plus the GM that they picked for this clearly has no fucking clue what she's doing.

It doesn't help that they left out most of the fun players (Laura and Travis Bailey, Sam Rigel, hell even that faggot Taliesin) but kept Ashley Johnson of all people for some reason... and added in new people who aren't very interesting. (They did keep Liam. I know I've shat on Liam for being a terrible person before, and he still is, but he's also a great actor and that makes him fun to watch as a player most of the time.) Best I can say is at least they also kept Marisha out?
Likely scat fetish aside, I didn't watch enough to gauge whether or not Mercer is as interesting of a player as he is a GM.

I don't begrudge normal players who just like CR for what it is, "between the lines", so to speak. A lot of DM's are probably a little jealous of Mercer's voice abilities.

But it is inarguable that it was the camel's nose under the tent for lunatics having more of a say at the table. I remember a tweet from some faggot a while ago where he said "if the DM says that your character dies, even if it's by the rules, you have every right to say 'no, that doesn't happen'". Welcome to the world of Zillenial role-playing.

I love giving my players every chance to live. I will fudge rolls if it is going to be a meaningless death, often with long term consequences for the player, though. But people forget Mercer is running a show as well as a game. Nobody dies because it would be bad for business. But if you are running a regular game at times you have to let the dice fly high, otherwise normal players will realize their character is encased in bubble wrap.

Finally, Felicia Day is the one that sprung this on the world. She's a cow. Very little good comes from cows.

You seem like a decent enough GM to me.
I believe that if a player/character does something stupid enough that they literally deserve to die, then the GM is totally correct to kill them.
There are also even some times that the death isn't necessarily deserved, but it should still happen anyways because that's just how the dice worked out. Just be fair with your rolls in that case is all that I ask.

I'm not gonna bs. I've only seen campaign 2 of CR, but Mercer did in fact kill Taliesin's character (despite him playing Mercer's personally created pet class.) I give him credit for that.

Is Felicia Day in the first campaign? I wouldn't be surprised, but I really don't want to see it @_@ (I've heard that Wil Wheaton is as well, but I've also heard that he was so pathetic of a player that it's now a meme that the dice hate him, as well they should.)

Felicia and Wil were only guests in the first campaign. Felicia was also the one who approached the main crew about livestreaming their gaming sessions.

VAs doing cringey shit does, if tangentiality.
You failed to make your case...
Anyway, I literally said this the other night in a different thread, and I'll say it again here-

In the original Japanese version of Dragon Ball, they decided that kid Goku should be voiced by a woman. Right on, most of the English dubs did that as well... Women usually voice little boys in cartoons. But even to this day, in the Japanese version, Goku is *still* voiced by that same (now elderly AF) woman, even though the character has been an adult man for decades now, and they do that same shit all the time. Subs are trash. Just watch whatever weeb shit you want to watch in a language that you actually speak.

Lol chill, it was a 3am work shit post. The point was English VAs do cringe shit, therefore it contributes to subs > dubs.

To relate it to CR, CR is the cringe.
