I always thought the way Faye wore her jacket with the shoulders halfway down to her elbows was unrealistic, not her short shorts or zippered sleeveless tank top thing that was always half unzipped. Those wouldn't restrict her movement at all. The jacket worn like that would restrict her arm movement lol

Good thing she doesn't wear it a lot.

Putting aside the Faye thirst posting the biggest annoyance I have about this live action remake is the number of people that will watch it going "it's more mature because it's live action" and refuse to see the original.
No dumbasses. A well done story is a well done story whether it is done via literature, audio only, animated shows or live action. If the animated show is better than live action then respect that shit.

Your literally describing the demographic these live action adaptations are made for. They're made for insecure Americans who think all animation is immature.

If she would have just said "we wanted to go with the original look but for live action purposes it wasn't feasible for action scenes", none of this would be happening.

Instead, these absolute NOBODIES have to shit on the fans that they are supposedly acting for. It's amazing how many of these actors/producers just openly admit to hating their own fanbases the last 2-3 years. I'm not saying they always liked their fanbases, but they at least respected them enough to think "ok, we'll give them what they want and we get a nice paycheck from it." I do not remember outside the occasional outburst this many people just openly shitting on their own fans this often before a couple years ago in TV/movies. The only time I'd ever seen it with regularity was in professional wrestling, which is where the term "marks" comes from in these situations.

They are literally an essential aspect of her character though, the way she looks is an essential aspect of her character.

The point of Faye is she's a stunningly gorgeous femme fatale type, but as the series goes on a lot more layers are revealed to her character, but if you're not at the starting point of her being this gorgeous femme fatale, you're missing the point of the character entirely.

I find Bebop to be one of the more grounded shows. Despite taking place in space, space itself isn't the setting so much as Tijuana or back alleys or bars are. It's really more like a Film Noir series, so it's definitely possible to make a faithful adaptation as the fan film Basketball Jones pointed out proves.

Far better than I initially thought. Having to use digital cameras instead of film stock kinda hurts it, but other than that it succeeds at its goal.
One of the cleverest things about Bebop that sets it apart from most sci fi is the, I don't know what exactly you'd call it, not anachronistic technically, but that blending of present day elements with sci fi, ie they're on a space station, but it just looks like Tijuana or they're on a city on Mars but it looks like 1980s Hong Kong.

One shot that really exemplifies that is I think in the Ganymede episode you see a group of old men sitting on a fishing dock, it looks like it could just be present day, but in the background you can see a sci fi looking building out in the water.

You wouldn't see anything like that in western sci fi until many years later with movies like Elysium or Upgrade.

Samurai Champloo did something similar by blending in modern elements into the past instead of blending modern elements into the future.

Honestly I wonder if the lady is just upset she has zero tits or ass. To be fair though, it's be hard to find someone with her body type, but they could've at least tried.

This is now a Faye Valentine Appreciation Thread.
Much better.

One of my favorite background details of the show. It's a nice touch to see a lot fo what's on Earth in Bebop's universe, seeing as humanity basically transplanted itself into the Solar System and built all sorts of things that existed on Earth mixed in with higher tech.

It's depressing they seem to be turning her into a stronk female or a Ramona Flowers type cunt. No more multi layered sexy ladies are allowed it seems because the speds in charge seem to think Faye was always fan service.
Post nudes so we can properly judge her lack of T&A.

Im sure it has been asked before, but is there a reason why directors are more fascinated with turning anime, cartoons, etc into love actions? Besides the (rather stupid) belief that animation is just for kids, I can't really see any reason to spend so much money on a film that will not fully capture the beauty or art of the show they are replicating from. Sure Cowboy Bebop isnt as outlandish compared to Dragonball or Monster Hunter but it has a certain noir tone to it that would be difficult to capture.

I just feel that making an animated movie would be the better choice, but it feels like Hollywood now a days want to see who could take the biggest crappiest dump on Japanese shows and make hardcore fans ree for all eternity.

I wouldnt be surprised if Hollywood tries their hand on a live action My Hero Academia or Demon Slayer. (:_(

Some people just have an unfair bias against anime, I remember Sean O'Neal, a writer for the AV Club, tried to watch Cowboy Bebop among other animes and just couldn't get into it due to the fact that it was anime.

It's funny too because Bebop turned out to predict what the future is actually like, here we are in the year 2021 and yet many things still look the same as they have for decades.

This is the actress they got play one of the hottest characters ever?

I don't want to be overly mean but she's just not a good fit for Faye as a character, John Cho is also too old for Spike as much as I otherwise do like John Cho as an actor.

They want the clout for anime that comic book superheroes got thanks to the live action movies.

But considering what happened to comic books themselves after they got mainstream respect, then I hope that stays far away from anime.

His gun is a very specific real life model, though. All of the characters in Bebop have very specific firearm models that exist irl, that's just another thing that appeals to fans of the anime- it helps to add to that "modern day real life stuff transplanted into a sci-fi future" vibe of the show and is just generally a treat for gun nerds in the audience. A character's choice in firearm can also reflect a surprising amount of that character's personality, past, values, and lifestyle.

It's details like this that were completely unnecessary to put in, but were anyways (and end up making the show even better than it already was), that show just how much of a passion project Cowboy Bebop was for everyone involved in its creation and production. The fact that Netflix can't be assed to do the same is a reflection of how much they genuinely care about the source material.

For any gun nerds in here, here's a comprehensive list of all of the firearms shown in the anime. It's genuinely amazing how many there are.

Edit because I forgot to add this: Cowboy Bebop literally put the Jericho 941 R on the map. The model was virtually unknown outside of Israel and it ended up exploding in popularity among international markets once the anime came out. It's one of the extremely few depictions of the gun in popular media and is easily the most iconic one due to the fact that pretty much every depiction of the 941 in media since exists as a reference to Bebop. "The model isn't iconic" my ass.

Última edición:
I mean, a good chunk of the fans are pretty unhappy with John Cho's casting for reasons already stated in this thread. The reason why nobody is pissed off at John himself is because John hasn't been a dick about the whole situation, while Daniela has. Turns out that if you don't act like a raging asshole, people tend to not have beef with you as a person.
