One thing that's dumb about toning down Faye's sexiness is while yeah Faye was super sexy in the anime, she was still treated as deep a character as the rest of the cast, she wasn't just there for eye candy.

SJWs once again "improving" things that didn't need improving and only making things worse.

For the record I never expected her outfit to be 1:1 like the anime, but they went out of their way to tone it down on purpose.

I don't really have an issue with making Jet a black guy. The dub certainly helped but he struck me as some ashen black-ish guy.
I guess he could be biracial.

iirc if Knockin' On Heaven's Door hadn't tanked(heh) at the box office the basic plan was to start shitting out Bebop side stories every few years like Lupin
Oh no, I would have loved that.

I wonder if in one of those movies they would have finally shown Faye's breasts.

Didn't Faye also take advantage of her beauty at times to swindle people? I haven't watched the show in a while but I sorta recalled her doing that.

Eh, I found that pretty on-point and funny. "Slurped up never to be seen again".

I mean, she's not wrong that it might be hard to pull off this in real life:

She is a femme-fatale arch type. She literally uses her looks for everything. It is impossible to do Faye without embracing that somewhat.
Yeah I knew my memory was right. Now it makes this casting worse since Faye looks like a transman here rather than a sexy type of person. Like I don't see men except for really ugly nerds falling for her "charms"

Netflix seems so subversive these days, that if someone told me in one of this live action shows episodes the gang actually catches their mark and gets paid....I would believe it.

Movie suffered from a having of lot of padding* to extend the run time as it serve equally as much to showcase Yoko Kanno's jazz band.
*Channeling Oshii in having scenes of people effectively doing little to nothing on screen for no purpose.

Costume and casting aside (and I agree about the actor for Spike being waaay too old), you know what I think they'll get most wrong about the live action show?

The action. Or rather the lack of it. Cowboy Bebop may be one of the most lackadaisical shows I've ever seen. Long scenes where people are just sitting around, or riding on a scooter, or walking through crowds. That scene in the the mushroom episode where Ed and Ein are hiding in the tent waiting to see people steal the mushroom. Sit, wait, watch, theft, repeat. Or in the movie where Spike is searching for information and it's just him walking around for like five minutes, no dialogue, set to "Diggin". I don't trust a modern live action version to have the stillness and lethargy which the show has at many points. Also, will it have the same impenetrability? Perhaps it's the translations but I still have no clue why that guy was babbling about beans in the movie. He's got like this entire monologue about beans. Will the live action show have a monologue about beans? I fear it might not.

I haven't actually seen the movie since 2004, so I don't remember too much about it.

I remember liking it but I also remember being very frustrated with how the movies teases you by thinking there's going to be Faye nudity, since it was a theatrical film they very easily could have gotten away with that, but no.

What's sad is I didn't realize at the time that would have been the (more than likely) last time ever watching Bebop anime I hadn't seen before.

Dude, you have the Internet, there are loads of naked girls out there.

If it really must be Faye, I'll bet she's on that anime strip poker game that's out there.
lol, you got to understand how much I had a crush on that character in particular as a teen.

Been too long since i've seen bebop, so i put this in the "my memory of this is too old for me to care" at this point.

Let em burn it, the anime was too old for a continuation anyway.
