How did we go from live action Cowboy Bebop to dog fucking? Bad thread.

The sad thing is from the interview she did she did seem genuinely enthused to play Ed. If she wasn't a fan of the character already she certainly was when she got her first big job, the direction was just dogshit. I have a feeling the directors just told her to imitate Ed and thought it was good enough.
That scene was a brutal final nail in the coffin. If they just got that camera out of her face, didn't fuck up the wig, and told her not to do that caveman growling inflection when she sounds Spike's name she would've been... maybe 30% less shit. Spike's last words in this whole series are now: 'shut up'.

But I dunno, as bad as it was I had fun hatewatching this thing, following this thread during season 2 would make my week whenever they might've released that. You can tell they fucked that up even before a single script was written because Ed fucking yells about the 'Butterfly Man' as if that's all there is to Vincent and she somehow knows what he hallucinates.

I picked up the Blu-ray of the anime at Target today. I've been meaning to rewatch it. I haven't seen it since it first debuted. I remember enjoying it, although it didn't really live up to the "best anime ever!" extreme hype that was going around at the time. I feel that watching it again without that baggage would be a good idea.

So, with the Netflix series over and one of the original lead writers tragically passing away, is Bebop now a dead franchise?

Not that it needed to come back, but you still can't help but wonder what it would be like if it got a new anime.

The way the anime ended doesn't leave a lot of room for sequels. Prequels, and midquels, maybe. But it's been too long and it wouldn't be the same. And Jet Black's Japanese VA died some years ago.
