She apparently was actually a Bebop writer's personal assistant but that doesn't make it any less funny. Also a radical eco-leftoid, raging lesbo, rootless jew against borders and private ownership, and avid consumer of Contrapoints and Vaush (though, prefers when Vaush doesn't claim that bLack separatists genociding whitey would be a bad thing). Just your average Netflix employee..
If what she said was true then I'll say I do feel bad that she and the rest of the crew were laid off without any notification ahead of the cancellation announcement, that's really shitty of Netflix to do. Additionally I feel that the actors and a lot of the crew did the best they could with the terrible script and tiny budget they were given. I would rather have seen them do a season 2 but better, but I'm not surprised Netflix threw in the towel less than a month after the show came out.

All that being said, I'm not going to shed a tear for the writers (including this lady) who took a perfectly good script to adapt and managed to royally fuck it up. I watched the whole series and I could feel every time corners were cut and every line that was completely unnecessary (usually from Faye) thrown in just to punch up the dialogue. The Cowboy Bebop live action is not the worst anime adaptation I've seen (that goes to either Dragonball Evolution or the shamalamadingdong Last Airbender if it counts), nor is it even the worst Netflix anime adaptation I've seen (Death Note), but this was still garbage and I won't feel bad when you've lost your job because you made garbage.

I especially don't feel bad for this lady, considering she was also the cretin who was stirring shit back when information about Gren was revealed.

For all their bluster about adapting to modern sensibilities I cannot fathom how they thought this depiction of Gren was a good idea. Like okay make Gren nonbinary, sure that's to be expected even if I think it's a bad idea. But why in the fuck did they make Gren look like the personification of a slur?

Also it wasn't a forced gender transition in the original anime, it was just the side effects of drugs given to him during prison. Even if it was meant to be forced transition, it "is not a thing in reality" is a SHIT excuse - you could have actually discussed the psychological impact something like that could have on someone and why we shouldn't do it in real life. Hell, you could have even made some sort of correlation between the shit that happened to Gren and straight conversion camps in real life or some shit, I dunno.

For fuck's sake Gren doesn't even play the saxophone in the adaptation, some other unnamed fucker does in the Gren scenes. Why do you think anyone would like this character if you've stripped everything, both major and minor, about them away?

Honestly this person would be a lolcow were they not a TV writer, their meltdown has been strange (saying they didn't actually write on the show, their pinned thread saying they read each script to make sure there's no racially offensive stuff despite being white, the fact that they look like 30 year old Ed)

Also this aged well

I mean Alita and Speed Racer were good.
I know, I'm late replying this but...

Yes, while Alita and Speed Racer are good live-action adaptations to anime, those are just the two good films based on anime. It's like saying 2020's Sonic the Hedgehog, OG Mortal Kombat movie, OG Street Fighter movie, the first Silent Hill, the first Jolie Tomb Raider, the Angry Birds Movie duology or Uwe Boll's Postal were the best video game movies among the other shitty movies based off video game properties. That doesn't really say much because live-action adaptations to anime or video games are bound to be shit.

Like with modern day horror movies such as FearDotCom, Chernobyl Diaries, The Bye-Bye Man, The Snowman, Slender Man, Unfriended, The Happening, Nic Cage Wicker Man or any Conjuring movie where they use sound effects to utilize jumpscares and act as if they are horror movies, adaptations to anime and video games are bound to base whatever they could find on Wikipedia or some rando YouTube walkthrough or speedrun and then make them as such. It's like with a shitty live-action remake to Disney movies. They trick you to think that live-action equals better, but it isn't.

I'm not saying that to say that live action anime is inherently good. It's more that the excuse of "oh of course live action anime will be shit" is just a lazy excuse as so many have tried to make it work like with those two examples and countless examples from Japan. The issue with these adaptations is that usually it's someone who doesn't get the point of it is the one at the helm. Cowboy Bebop is quite literally one of the easiest anime to adapt to live action since it has a more western style and is very grounded, the showrunners however thought the show was a science fiction comedy and tried to be more of a cartoon than the original animated show.

How do people like this get hired?

Is it because they are trust fund poorfags who will work for nothing to get an IMDB credit?

Anybody involved in botching an IP with a loyal fanbase 20 years after the fact should be blackballed.

I was mostly fine with her comments(I can understand being upset about losing a job)until we hit the “racism/patriarchy” talk and it became clearly they just wanted to play the victim for pity.

So there is still a faint glimmer of justice left in this rotten world after all.

They fucking butchered Cowboy Funk so hard its basically irecognizable in the netflix show. I feel no pity for anyone involved but for the actress that played Ed. From what Ive seen in interviews she seemed to actually be a fan of the show and even started going by "Ed" after the show came out.

Imagine showing up for 30 seconds as a way to hype up season 2, only to get btfo by the entire internet and to be fired from your first major gig on your birthday. oof

Can someone explain to me why people on Twitter are acting like this show being canceled is like a major retailer like Best Buy closing its doors? Has the US gotten so retarded with entitlement we are now at the point where spoiled dopes on Twitter think Hollywood jobs should be a sure thing?

I'm just reminded how much these people have disdain for "fly over country." Do you think all the people that will never see their name on credits on a TV screen that lost their jobs in manufacturing in the midwest over the decisions of politicians Hollywood supported are crying about it on Twitter?

Even though the Ed scene at the end was cringe enough to be front paged here, I think she could've done a reasonably okay job done with better direction and framing. Her flailing around body language didn't look too bad in the distant camera shots, other than the fact that she didn't move around much from her spot (either because of having to stay on her mark or staying within the bounds for green screen) but for the love of god you can't shove this sort of thing right in front of the camera. Like closeups of her were pretty rare even in the fucking anime, most of the time she's just doing something amusing in the background unless it's one of the episodes focusing on her

Ed’s actor probably dodged one hell of a bullet, but it is a shame she lost out on what she wanted to do like that.

"I'm invested in the abolishment of land ownership." Yeah, like I'm going to feel sorry for some entitled cunt who wants to steal everything I worked for to give it to the Biden administration so it can be handed over to illegal immigrants. I hope this person is done in the industry period. Go work at Subway, and you better not fuck up my sandwich either when I tell you what I want on it.

I've just replaced her with an original character, toned her down considerably, or keep her out alltogether. Converting anime 1:1 into live action is always cringe, espeically with an hyperactive weirdo like Ed.
The one scene with her destroyed any fleeting interest I had in the show (it wasn't all that much to begin with)
