Just got to the part where Faye is a lesbian now, because just making her a hipster wasn't enough.

This one quote alone makes the “Faye is lesbian” trope dismantled.

When is the last time you ever met a lesbian who had a clean room?

I heard someone mention once that Yoko Kanno is a plagiarist. Is that true? Or is it just that the soundtrack kinda maybe sounds like some other theme song in the same genre?
Just outright calling her a plagiarist is a bit much, but sometimes she strays way too close to her influences. Her output is pretty impressive regardless.

Wasn't there a leak or anouncement or some shit a while back that they were completely altering the story to be about aang being like a bald kid in highschool that gets super bender powers or some shit?
There's another rumor about the live-action show, it's supposed to focus on the female character (Katara?) and not Aang.

Scoring for an anime is probably the same as scoring for a tv show or a movie, sometimes a writer or a director will use a song or a score from another soundtrack in a scene to give the composer an idea of what they want him/her to do and sometimes the result can be very similar to the original piece of music.

Here's a grainy as shit 2007 video that compares a few songs:

She is very... uh... liberal in how close she stays to her "inspiration". Some of these comparisons are almost perfect matches.
Doesn't mean all her songs are plagiarized, but Yoko Kanno certainly doesn't work in a vacuum and some of her songs are very similar to works by other artists.
Her work is still amazing.

The race swapping is so fucking bizarre. The only one they didn't swap is Spike and that's really only because he is racially ambiguous.
I always thought he was jewish, literally the only jew character in anime. Between the jewfro, the name and the big nose (for anime standards)
It's been said before but Cho just doesn't work as spike. You can't have a character who is supposed to be roguish, charismatic and in the prime of his life and have him be played by a 50 year old Korean guy whose face looks deflated and has all the charisma of a piece of wood . I mean this "adaptation" in general is a dumpster fire, but when the main character is so utterly miscast it just brings the show down to a place that it'll never recover from.

If they wanted an asian there are more chad-ish looking actors out there, younger too

I'm not a hardcore enough fan of her work to say for certain but it's common in music to sample other people's songs, especially in certain genres. What she's doing is not unheard of and I believe she is as talented as they say and simply loves to take pieces of music she likes a lot. Some of what she uses is in the public domain anyway.

If I had a dollar for every time somebody says 'I thought he's Jewish because hair and gun' in a Cowboy Bebop thread I'd make Jeff Bezos look middle class. It's downright fandom apocrypha. Sorry, cybertoaster, but god fucking damn I'm tired of hearing it.
Seriously. People have the Internet, it's not hard to look a little deeper into shows, plus the show is from Japan. If Spike were anything but Japanese, he'd look like Andy from the Teddy Bomber episode.

Jesus imagine being this autistic, who cares? they replaced him with a korean boomer anyway.

You’d probably manage well for number of times mentioned on this thread alone, too.

You know what would be cool? Imagine if Denis Villeneuve made a Cowboy Bebop movie that treated the source material with the same level of respect he gave Blade Runner and Dune.
Except Villeneuve is the wrong director. Desaturated colors and leisurely pacing would not work for a series heavily influenced by John Woo.

Yeah, and besides, citing Villeneuve as an "artistic craftsman" when he'd done a mildly competent job with BR 2049, and an outright hack of Dune, I'd prefer to have Jackie Chan do a proper Cowboy Bebop movie than that depraved Frenchman.
