"MOM SAID IT'S MY TURN ON THE XBOX!!!"
Completely agree. I really like the movie for its visuals and sountrack, but those extra 30 minutes they were forced to put in there really did kinda of a number with it. Volaju really does feel like a different character almost every scene hes on.Ngl I always chalked that up as really weird rapey 'fanservice' for the audience at the cost of his character because it's one of many things that make him feel inconsistent. He's an insane omnicidal maniac who's still focused enough for premeditated terrorism, yet doesn't seem all that bothered about being stopped by Spike, he flashes an axe-crazy smile when he blows up the train but also a few smug smiles as if he's in control of himself. And presumeably he used to be a decent enough guy to be in a relationship with Elektra so is he unhinged enough to be rapey or not? Insanity doesn't make much sense but he's a fictional character so I kind of wanted his personality to be tighter than that. I can see why people don't like him as a villain or the movie in general all that much.
Woah, is this confirmed? What 30 minutes exactly did they have to add? Because I like the movie but it is over-long.Completely agree. That's the first I've heard of this. I don't like that random chase scene near the end with Spike in the Swordfish but I thought from total hearsay that somebody on the staff really wanted to something like that.but those extra 30 minutes they were forced to put in there really did kinda of a number with it
She claimed to be a gypsy in hope that Jet and Spike would release her, except that they both knew that she was a scam artist.Faye claimed to be Romanian iirc.
I remember reading this in more than one site, but now that Im looking for it all I can find is an IMDB trivia section with no references, so yeah maybe thats not true. What I had heard was that the movie was supposed to be 90 minutes long at first and got expanded to be 2 hours midway through production.Woah, is this confirmed? What 30 minutes exactly did they have to add? Because I like the movie but it is over-long.
I hope they don't try to "adapt" the movie or try to cram movie characters and plot points into the show. Can you imagine John Cho delivering anything from this scene from the fight choreography to the flirting? They wouldn't even get Electra right because of body positivity or whatever the fuck reason they gave for casting Faye as some chunky cunt.

The "adaptation" IS the rotten rock lobster.. Does the mutant ganymede rock lobster fungus appear?
TV has long strayed away from serialized "monster of the week" style storytelling, that's just not how it's done anymore. This ultimately points to a bigger problem with the live act thow and that is everything must be connected. And I straight up don’t understand why Netflix went with this? Especially, when they have a point of reference of cowboy bebop’s stand-alone nature working outside of the source and it’s one of the biggest tv shows to be introduced in the last 3 years: the mandalorian. Mando is very much influenced by bebop, if not the same sources that influence itself. But, it’s proof that this style of storytelling can win over an audience. So, why didn’t Netflix take the fucking hint?
Integra was already half Indian, but yeah, Ceras being a redhead, they almost assuredly would cast a black actress.trans Integra and black dyke Ceras, let's fuckng goooo
I can see them turning Kill la Kill into some sort of Riverdale type high school drama, but of course you couldn't have the characters be half naked.I won't be surprised if there's gonna be a Netflix live-action adaptation of Kill la Kill, where Ryuko will be played by Alicia Vikander, Satsuki will be played by Amy Schumer, and Mako will be a black non-binary transgender and won't contain any comedy from the original anime, but moreso being boring and lifeless.
Okay, but the mandalorian did it for like 2 seasons and once again, biggest tv show released in like the last 3 years.TV has long strayed away from serialized "monster of the week" style storytelling, that's just not how it's done anymore.
And when JesuOtaku in one of the CA anniversary films emulated Ed much better than the Netflix adaptation, of course that bar is set very low.Hope/Jacob Chapman/Jesuotaku did a better Ed impression in To Boldly Flee
And with its shitty CW-like setting, it will probably aim for the PG-13 rating only for the fact that the half-naked clothing suits might scare away the normies.I can see them turning Kill la Kill into some sort of Riverdale type high school drama, but of course you couldn't have the characters be half naked.
The reason for the extra running length was the Cowboy Behop movie was more of a showcase of Yoko Kanno's jazz band than a continuation of Behop. As I haven't seen much of making of the movie since it came out, this isCompletely agree. Imagine this abomination being the rotten rock lobster's own twisted and moldy perception of reality as it observed the crew early on in secrecy before its attack for reasons far too stupid for our mortal minds to comprehend. The "adaptation" IS the rotten rock lobster.
Haven't seen mandalorian but for the longest time "monster of the week" were dirty words and it was all about serialized storytelling, which started in a big way for genre TV with LOST.Okay, but the mandalorian did it for like 2 seasons and once again, biggest tv show released in like the last 3 years.
TV serialized storytelling as we know it got going with Hill Street Blues way back in the 80ies. That's if we're not counting soap operas, anime, or foreign TV which have been doing it years to decades earlier.Haven't seen mandalorian but for the longest time "monster of the week" were dirty words and it was all about serialized storytelling, which started in a big way for genre TV with LOST.
It's been a while but I'm positive that was during her first encounter with Spike and Jet. She's not visibly Romani in any way and I'm certain it was more of a taciturn lie on her part, while also informing the audience that Faye is a figurative Gypsy. The Singaporean descent is much more verifiable.Faye claimed to be Romanian iirc.

Crime shows still do "monster of the week" a lot. Most have overarching plots and character arcs but still.TV has long strayed away from serialized "monster of the week" style storytelling, that's just not how it's done anymore.
Sure, but I guess I should have clarified I'm talking about genres like sci fi and horror, ie shows like Star Trek or The X-Files, Star Trek Discovery ditched the "every episode is a new adventure" format for a season long story.Ftfy

Cowboy Bebop isn't unique with its episode story arc. It was common for stories and especially for American shows to not focus on the over aching plot as the protagonists have had hit a wall. That's until they obtained a new "puzzle piece*" to advance the over aching plot..
Cowboy Bebop was actually fairly unique among anime with how episodic many of it's episodes were, most anime leans either toward multiple episode story arcs with maybe a few one offs here and there or wholly episodic like Lupin The Third or Case Closed, Bebop's approach where it was mostly episode with a handful of overarching plot episodes was pretty unique.
