If you're gonna remake shit only to copy it basically word for word then I have to ask why the fuck remake it in the first place? Honestly I'd somewhat prefer a shit but original take on the concept instead to a degree. Sure nobody wants a SJW politically correct version of any fucking anime, but at least it's a different and it can appeal to a new audience, and can be fun to shit on if you already are a fan of the original. What sort of reason is someone gonna have to watch this new version of Cowboy Bebop if it's basically a scene for scene remake? The answer for most is gonna be none, especially if it's literally just a direct adaptation of a older show that you can also watch on the same motherfucking platform.
It depends on who is in charge. For example, the remake of True Grit just took scenes and scriptwriting directly from the original film. But context was added to it. So, instead of Cogburn being some macho, rowdy gunslinger, he's an old, broken man who knows his days are numbering. Instead of Mattie being a Mary Sue, she's a heady girl who ends up losing her arm by the end of the film. Instead of being a generic villain, La Boeuf is an anti-hero, etc.

Apparantly, this adaptation doesn't do much of that. I don't know how much "Spike Spiegel" being an alias means in this story.

It gets even worse since allegedly Vicious and Julia are featured in every episode.

Faye apparently says "I'm not gonna carry that weight"

and the showrunner doesn't seem to understand how bleak Bebop's future is in-series (Link to a brief clip, full interview is here if someone wants to see how badly they understand shit about the first show)

If you're changing the context then it's not word for word though, you need to rewrite shit in order to change the context after all. If you were to translate both True Grit movies into books they'd read completely differently, even in a scene where the words said by the characters are the same all the text surrounding those words would be completely different.

We need to see user reviews for this. It’ll be interesting to see people give Red Tomatoes™ as a positive rating for this.
Big media corps have already undermined the user review system by either botting and or removing negative user reviews for the last few years. You would have to be a moron to actually believe user reviews on RT at this point (as shown in the screenshot below).

Metacritic has a better system and is usually more accurate, which says far more about how shit RT has become than anything good about Metacritic.

Apparently they’re not paying enough.

I remember at some point people acted like the user reviews were more genuine due to how critics reacted to Dave Chapelle and Last Jedi, yet are right on shit like this, Eternals, and some other recent shitty movies. I expect that rating to happen to this where the audience rating is positive

When you miss the point of Bebop's setting so badly that even retards on twitter are right, like holy fuck

Despite having them in the same pose as the original, there's something more interestingly dynamic about how the animated series went about framing this shot. Yeah, they're in front of the stained glass window, but the shots tell a different story. One shows just how trapped the two of them are together in a life-or-death situation as light streams in through on them both, but Vicious' face is the one that's illuminated, looking like an avenger angel Spike is rebelling against. The other goes "Hey, see how cool this is that they're silhouetted against the stained glass window and there's plenty of room for the two of them to escape, but they need to give each other the death glare so they have to pause like this for dramatic effect. No, you're not allowed to see their faces to know what they're thinking."
the bottom shot is neo noir.

Indeed. I think they did it as an answer to the people who were leaving negative reviews of SW The Last Jedi, so Rotten Tomato changed their algorithm to exclude user reviews that are less than 1 star.
Also the CEO used to work for Disney.

Remember, RT's scoring metric system is a bit too nice. Keep in mind, this site was generous of 2018's Tomb Raider with its 49% rating (preferred over the two Jolie movies) despite being very total garbage and actually making the Paul WS Anderson Resident Evil movies seem redeemable by comparison. Then again, this is the site that preferred shit like Solo or The Last Jedi over the likes of Spaceballs and has been hard on Road to El Dorado. So of course RT's scoring system is broken.

Faye is turned into beaner walmart ada wong.
Faye is often reduced to a plucky space-age girlboss who calls Spike a “dickwad” and takes out a room full of goons while shouting “Welcome to the ouch, motherfuckers!”
Also don't forget they cast a nonbinary faggot to play Gren. Nothing says more nonbinary representation as casting a nonbinary as a character who fought in a war, gets wrongfully accused of aiding the enemy, is forced in prison to take radical new drugs that not only changed hormonal behaviour but shortens life as well.

Wow this just is really bad, they literally just turn Faye into some quippy bullshit.

Also if they show how bad gren's life was then the showrunner would remember that Bebop is in a really shitty world, we can't have that for the light hearted adaptation

I'm pretty sure there was a shot of that 26 year old man's legs as he danced on a pole in the trailer too. No thanks.

I still can't determine if Ed is in this or not. Has anyone found a description of her if she is? Can't wait to see how they fuck that up...
