Yeah, I'm looking forward to the story of how they overcome their livestreaming preoccupations to put story to paper. That in itself may be better than the comic.

Here's the thing: a religious publishing house can be a financial success, even one that's focused on comics. With the right content and sales channels, you can be shipping product to a few hundred thousand subscribers a month. There are distributors who look exactly for this kind of stuff.

Mike is confrontation. I don't know a better way to say it. You ask him what he stands against, he asks you what do you got.

There's no point in taking jabs at his failed business attempts, he's not the guy who is going to be able to run a business. That's what the brilliance of Marvel and DC in the 70s was, you had a big collection of rebels and editors kept them in check. It was a great way to sublimate their rebellious tendencies in a way that makes money.

The fact he's going after EVS right now makes perfect sense. I know a little bit about Mike's story, EVS helped him back up on his feet and now he's gnashing his teeth. This confrontation isn't about religion, it's about feeding a wild dog. Over time, Comicsgate is going to attract professionals who are a little more goal focused and see the bigger picture. The business side of things will take a few years to come together, but when it does, we will see growth because there's an unfulfilled demand.

In the meantime, growing pains like Mike will still be taking their shots. EVS will still be working out his production and fulfillment processes. YBZ will be showing up all these professionals and churning out comics left and right. But there will come a day when the lightbulb goes off and people start to realize how to make this into an industry instead of a niche market. Creators will learn how to build economies of scale and shared distribution / sales channels that increase revenues for each individual creator without relying on YouTube streams.

In the meantime, everything is going to be weird. I'm enjoying watching the craziness that happens as creators try to get to that point.

I doubt mine will be fulfilled until the ashcan comes out but every sketch is different and I'll share whatever he draws here. So waiting unfortunately for this and G0D K1NG to arrive is almost like waiting for Kwanzaa, the shitty Berkeley university version of christmas.

Unless this is the best Photoshop job ever - which I can guarantee it is not - LNC received his copies before mine arrived. He wasn't a day one backer, it took him at least 3 weeks to panhandle that kind of scratch.
