I like a 100% arabica medium roast that's from a specific island in Indonesia. It goes great from a French press. Second favorite is an arabica from some Zapatista commune in Mexico although that one is a pain to buy. I guess that communism somehow makes really good coffee and cigars. Third favorite is the cheapest arabica and robusta blend that I get from the supermarket. It's surprising how hard the cheap shit goes.

Just get some chinesium electric grinder. If you want to be difficult about it, buy an ancient hand grinder from a second-hand store.

Communist coffee has a nice ring to it, lol. I didn't even think about electric grinders, good call, thanks.
 
the Mexican Zapatista coffee is real good, but I haven't had it in years (a coffee shop where I used to live had it). Sometimes I use my (literally) ancient hand grinders for a pour over of some local roasters nonsense but 95% of my coffee at home is e.s.e. pad espressos
 
I love my weird single origin shit. Current daily driver is a light roasted Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and I have a darker roasted version to feed to the espresso machine.

Also a big fan of peaberry for the pourover setup, but I'll pick that up when I run out of what I've got.
 
I used to buy the cheapest coffee grinds available. Then I upgraded to the cheapest 100% arabica whole beans. The price difference is marginal quality of difference is significant. No more mystery robusta blends, either. It's obvious in retrospect. Buying pre-ground coffee is like buying pre-ground weed, you're buying dried out low quality floor trimmings.
