Thanks to a few Indian YouTubers, this trend just spiraled out of control.Fredrik Knudsen did a Down The Rabbit Hole episode on the finger family phenomenon a couple of months ago.

Oh, love that! It'll be interesting to see what propelled such 'creativity' to start with!I hope someone makes a detailed documentary where they visit the countries that produce these videos and interview the creators.

I really don't care for these videos, I just want the "why".
Why do parents let their kids watch this? Who deemed this appropriate for children? Who is mass-producing these videos? How do MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of children come across these videos and these videos only?
I have so many questions that will never be answered because nobody gives enough of a fuck.
Hopefully there is a God after death and I can ask him "what the hell man?".
I blame Ronnie.I think it's a symptom of current society. Some people are single parents or both parents work to live in some crap shack, the have their Ipads and iphones on payment plans so they can function in society. The kid is given the ipad to keep them quiet.
Parents don't have time for parenting anymore, they are working their ass off and have overtime, they just drop the kid off at childcare, then when they get back youtube will shut them up for the rest of the time.
What happened to the old working parent who wasn't doing overtime out the ass, who was able to pay for their whole family and spend time with them, while the other parent was able to actually raise the children and teach them things?
Why is the family unit like this now?
Here's an article about how creepy Kids YouTube is from earlier this week.

I was recently introduced to the delightful r/Elsagate. It's pretty much what it says on the tin: conspiracy theory sub surrounding these disturbing videos. The sub has currently exploded in popularity. For all their tinfoil hattery, these people have compiled a shitload of info on this internet phenomenon:

That's all it is.I like the conspiracy theories but I think the real reason for these videos is there are bots in china/india that watch these and give them ad revenue.
Because parents are thinking to themselves "Man, this taking care of a child thing sure is hard work". So they just become clueless and they both work their asses off to compensate for actually raising their child.I think it's a symptom of current society. i guess you can also blame on the many reforms that lead to millennials barely taking care of their kids unless they were their precious furbabies.Because parents are thinking to themselves "Man, this taking care of a child thing sure is hard work".
