So let me tell you about the children's part of youtube: it's weird as shit. No really all of the videos are typically consisting of one song, The Finger Family Song, and pretty much any IP they can rip off and mush together in nothing short of clear cult indoctrination it's so repetitive.

Here let me show you.

Note the constant mention of Finger Family, Pepa Pig, and also blood streaming from the adorable animals eyes. This isn't just from ONE channel, this is from hundreds of them doing the exact same thing while consistently posting videos almost daily.

One channel is an ARG (Alternate reality game) that sometimes has its host talk to the kids as hitler, but that was just someone picking up on the disturbing trend in kid's youtube. Enjoy some of my favorites

I would like to thank the OP for making this thread; I was about to do it myself about 4 weeks ago, but forgot. *sigh*

This topic needs way more attention.


First of all, I would like to point out that there are over 4,620,000 "Finger Family" videos on YouTube alone.

These videos began to skyrocket in August 2011 - about 5 years ago. Over 20 Finger Family videos have been uploaded in the past hour alone. The most popular Finger Family video has over 500 million views. Despite the majority of these videos having millions of views, almost none of them have over 100 or 200 comments.

The only non-tinfoil hat theory I heard are that these channels are so popular because young children, ESPECIALLY autistic children, are easily kept distracted by them so parents just let them watch a tablet for 12 hours a day. Chinese and Russian schemers set up all these sites and upload slightly different content to evade Google algorithms which ban you for view botting. In other words, these channel owners are making millions.

Other theories:

Because of the extensive number of these videos, I would say it's possible an artificial intelligence is behind the majority of them. Perhaps it was recently created and is just fooling around or trying to learn things about the viral nature of the internet to know how to best propagate itself or its messages.

Another possibility is some sort of memetic warfare.

Another has to do with the fact that really young kids can hear or see things in these videos that older people can't, so maybe it's some sort of brainwashing.

I figure this (and the horrible Baby Frozen Minion Dental Hairdresser type games) are algorithmically assembled by slave labor types.
Boss has an automated list of trending things that are in the asset bin, hands the list to Slave Fred, then Slave Fred makes another cartoon and gets slightly fewer beatings than a gold farmer, thus making this the cushy gig.

I was paging through one of those channels looking for Godzilla ones and found the first video they had was some islam-looking passenger jet toy on a surface rolling around bouncing into stuff.

This isn't it but it's got Godzilla so that's mostly cool.

 
There's this shit, but then there's also these channels that are obsessed with making videos of Elsa from Frozen and Spiderman together.
