TBH it sounds nothing like Fight Club beyond “some people fight.” Some journo heard they were making this film and spun it as “female reboot of Fight Club” because they knew it would get that kneejerk reaction.

I’m reserving judgment until we hear some actual details.

That or a feminist remaking Fight Club that has never actually seen Fight Club and has only read reviews of it.

The joint + moonshine thing is obviously supposed to be the equivalent of the gas leak+ refrigerator compressor clicking on, though I get the vibe they never go to the plot point that it was actually Tyler that blew his apartment up.

Isn't the idea and concept of masculinity a major theme of both the novel and the book? But what do I know, I just read.

It definitely is. Palahniuk explicitly made Fight Club because he saw a lack of such bonding stories for men. And really, when you think about it, what made Fight Club so great is the unrestricted masculinity they endorsed, which is something many men out there deal with, on a regular basis. It's why the protagonist shows the personality disorders, why he created Tyler Durden in the first place.

“We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.”

Take this quote, for instance.

Women don't have such restrictions, especially over the last 30 years, so the point is completely lost on them.

Edit: throwing in JRE podcast with him and the clip when they touched upon Fight Club, it was pretty good.

It looks like shitty click bait journalism strikes again. From the article it's got no association with the actual fight club versus it being a group of people who fight. It's also a comedy film, which probably means it's gonna be more like Bridesmaids with boxing gloves, than Fight Club.

The real fight club will be when this thing bombs severely and everyone is in a free for all to see who gets the blame for it flopping.

I mean Fight Club is pretty much a comedy, just super dark. Doubt they'd get the humor right cause they'll try to be woke with it of course.
