I can understand Groomcord, and reddit/twitch being officially powered by extremists makes sense, but Steam is probably one of the least offensive platform out there, unless they're held responsible for the communications in the games sold on steam.

It's the Steam groups and their low key nature. Ever since 2018 when Valve revamped group chat functionality to be more akin to Discord as competition (but no where near as feature rich), it unfortunately also attracted mentally ill people you'd find on discord as hangsouts for dubious interactions.

These new companies foment it directly and encourage it.

IRC you had to host your own server, or create a channel in a public server, which was generally very restrictive.
Usenet had an even higher barrier of entry that never attracted the general public.

Both were host to nefarious content though, don't kid yourself. But I agree the scale was much less than it is today.

steam is already way like discord except they also sell (licenses to play) games. same ui, same features, same deranged furry/groomer audience, you can make private groups and group chats, it's pretty much the same so it's not shocking they got subpoena'd too. if there's ever a farmer that finally snaps then josh will have his day in court like jim watkins did with 8chan.

reddit is just a dumbed down and retardified version of classic internet forums.
discord is just mumble and irc combined into one easy to use app.
steam is just a video game storefront with basic chat and profile post functionality.

i guarantee you that pressuring, threatening, or cracking down on them will have no meaningful effect on the left, while alienating large amounts of people who use them from your side.
this matters less with reddit since they're basically all shitlibs who already hate you anyway, but steam and discord are just really useful and popular communication tools that are used by basically everybody under the age of 40 (steam) or 30 (discord). if you crack down on them over this shit you're gonna go down in history as the 2020s jack thompson and ruin your popularity with young voters, for virtually no benefit at all. it's fucking brainless.
and even if you stick to fucking with turbo leftoid sites like bluesky and tumblr, it's still worthless. they'll find new platforms way faster than you can close the old ones down, it's not a winnable game for you, just a pointless waste of your time and resources.

you want to hit the left where it hurts, go for their infestation of colleges, universities, public institutions, NGOs, foundations, and media outlets. those are the heart of corruption, from there the vitriol of their ideology seeps out across the whole country, across the whole world even. this is where you need to strike.
