Steve doesn’t understand that he’s preaching the very same thing as the people dancing on Charlie’s grave, and that is both hilarious and sad for all the wrong reasons.
Tolerance should only be given to those who would offer it in return.
Tolerance should be given to people who are reasonable, even if they’re intolerant. If they can be reasoned with (i.e. if they’re not out to literally try to kill you) then you should at least put a reasonable amount of effort into tolerating them.
The very idea Steve is referring to is a paraphrasing of a well-known concept (paradox of tolerance) which inevitably leads to people like Charlie Kirk being shot. Everybody is intolerant towards something or somebody at some point, it’s common sense. Nobody is tolerant of everything (or everyone) all of the time, and that was very much true of Charlie Kirk just as it is for me or you, or anyone else.
For example: Charlie Kirk has promoted on more than one occasion the idea that doctors helping women receive abortions are murderers. In doing so, he expressed an intolerance of doctors implementing safe medical procedures designed to prevent people from harming themselves. To those who don’t believe in tolerating intolerance, that’s dangerous and such ideas might as well be violence! It’s worth noting that Charlie’s views on this sort of thing did change over time, and mostly for the better, because he grew as a person and learned along the way that doctors are merely an extension of their patients wishes (except when they’re allowing themselves to be used as executioners, knowingly against their patients wishes, but doctors which do that are meant to be struck off)

Words are not violence. But Steve seems to be forgetting that, and now he’s unwittingly advocating that one of their talking points must now be correct? Uh oh.
The gleeful cheering I'm seeing is absolutely horrifying and disgusting. If anyone who sees this thinks the murder of Charlie Kirk was justified, do us both a favour -- unfollow, mute, or block me. I do not want to associate with you. You represent pure evil, and you are now my enemy. I will not forgive, and I will not forget.
OK, so he’s engaging in freedom of association, excellent.
But suggesting those dancing on a grave are “pure evil” and an “enemy” is stupid. They’re expressing dark humour to deal with a fucked up situation.
Charlie Kirk advocated that, fundamentally, life is sacred, and therefore wanted abortions to be completely off the table. That is an absolutely
noble stance to take, because if life itself isn’t sacred, then what is?
But then Charlie also advocated that it’s worth a few people dying through gun violence to guarantee people retained their “God given” second amendment rights, and eventually died through an act of gun violence. Clearly
his death is
not worth that, otherwise he’d just be yet another footnote in a long string of innocent people being shot to death.
People absolutely should be calling out the perverse absurdity of the situation here in whatever way helps them keep their sanity. Charlie died defending the very idea which allowed someone to kill him in the blink of an eye, and how does one reconcile that? He got shot because of his opinion, and his opinion was that it’s worth people being shot and killed so that everyone can possess guns like those used to shoot and kill him.
“You were only saying that because it hadn’t happened to you” has become an absolutely valid posthumous rebuttal to his viewpoint on gun violence, even more so because he advocated that life itself is sacred. No amount of “but it was God’s will” tomfoolery can change that.

But everyone is entitled to act like an idiot here. The whole situation is absurd, darkly ironic and a testament to why people should stop referring to absolutely everything as being political when it isn’t.
