Money Chandlers sued for debt megathread

What happens to the hoard when Chris has to move out of 14BC? Will the city supply him with help or will he have to make his own arrangements to clear the place?
You mean when he gets evicted?

Chris will be given notice that he has some amount of time (most likely 24 or 48 hours) to vacate and he will get precisely zero help from the city. Anything he leaves behind will be sold to help pay for the outstanding debt (:optimistic:) or trashed.

I hope Son-Chu Mk II has a lot of trunk space...

I'm not sure how they do it in VA, but I thought eviction notices were posted a week or two ahead of time so you can find a place to live and get out?

I don’t specifically know about VA, either. I’m sure you get some sort of advance notice of eviction (not that CWC would act on it; I could see him sitting around playing vidya and waiting for someone to pull his ass out of the fire) but I was referring to the final final notice.

Oh, okay. Yeah I agree Chris will shit his pants and do nothing if a notice like that comes through. I'm not entirely sure he knows what "eviction" means or how to pronounce it.

Be great watching some sheriffs carrying him out in his hedgehog defense mode after he packed nothing thinking he could talk them out of evicting him by telling his life story.

According to the Virginia Code, § 55-59.1 requires the trustee to send a written notice fourteen days before the foreclosure sale takes place, and once the house has been sold, § 55-225.10 requires a notice to quit five days prior to an eviction suit being filed. Even then, according to this website, the new owner still has to deliver you a written notice and file the eviction suit before you have to move out, and you're given ten days to move out unless you don't show up to the court hearing, in which case the judge can rule summarily against you and you only get 72 hours to pack up before the sheriff shows up to help you out the door. So Chris would have plenty of notice and a decent amount of time to prepare, but we all know how that would turn out.

"Foreclosure sale"
Some autist is going to go to there and buy Chris's house "for the lulz", aren't they?

They would have to be autistic enough to be okay with fleas, dirt/grme/remaining hoard, horrible odors, piss floors/piss ceilings, and whatever other deterioration has taken place since the after-fire reconstruction. Which I assume is considerable.

Wouldn't his older sibs be resolved that Chris needs to be herded into a group house with other speds? Adjustment problems likely, but not much hope of anything else working out.

The house would be sold and any proceeds could go to Chris's needs but not put in his pocket. Given the likelihood of low equity and high tax liens, of course, not much may get squeezed out of the sale.

Nah, it's exceptionally difficult to get someone forcibly committed in the US. The Commonwealth of Virginia views Chris as a competent adult so there's no chance of that happening (even with all his batshit beliefs).

Why? They don't give a fuck. They're also under no obligation whatsoever to help Chris. David might feel slightly sorry for Chris - he at least bothered to show up to Bob's funeral - but he's highly unlikely to actually step in and directly help.

It will likely be sold to cover Barb's debt. Considering how trashed it is, even post-reconstruction, it probably won't cover everything Snorlax owes, so Chris won't get shit.
