UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

DIT: The articles were not archived and have been deleted, but according to screenshots (X) she did two years in Syria with a 'political group' and has potentially dabbled in political terrorism before (X). Saoradh is a far left offshoot of the IRA. There are both far left and far right groups who call themselves the 'New IRA', as well, but Saoradh denies all links to any of them.
The IRA has had a long cooperation with hisb allah and palestinian terror groups. It's likely the newest IRA groups are little more than iranian fronts, now, who will pursue islamic goals under the cover of irish nationalism.

The Muslim Brotherhood rebranded itself as 'Islamic Movement' and a charity in Ireland. The charity regulator came out with updated numbers for charities in Ireland recently and, I mean come on, over 1000 charities in County Cork (population 600,000) and 506 in Donegal (population 200,000). Incredibly dodgy stuff

I take the view that execution is like destroying a rabid dog. It shouldn't be for all murder (or at least for murder and not culpable homicide). If someone has knowingly taken a life out of evil intent without any human provocation then the only option is death.

The best use of the death penalty is against acts of violence committed not against individuals but against the British public in a public place, such as stabbing children or bombing children in an arena. The target wasn't an individual with whom you might have a personal vendetta but the very fabric of society itself.

A man may kill his wife in a fit of rage after finding out she was cheating on him. This is deplorable but it is relatable and it is possible such a man may be returned to society some day. Someone who stabs children for a shitty religion or commits other acts of mass violence for no reason other than they can, deserve to swing.

In regards to the south port stabber vs that bloke in Edinburgh. Both are mentally unwell but one acted out of hatred for his enemy and picked literal children and the other attacked Muslims in an insane attempt to protect people. Obviously both are horrible but one was the result of an evil mind and the other was the result of delusion and a ultimate desire for good. One ahd a long fascination with violence and exposure to Islamic propaganda, either he intended to kill for Allah or he intended to kill because he enjoyed violence. The other geninely thought he was protecting people and doing the right thing but was mentally unwell. Long story short, hang the south port killer and get that Edinburgh bloke the help he genuinely needs.

The core of the matter of prisons is that the European Court of Human Rights basically ensures that prisoners can't actually be 'punished', the entire motivation of prison HAS to be about rehabilitation above all else.

Part of the reason why it's such a shitstorm is that people debating the topic really don't seem to grasp the different category of prisoners. A remarkable amount of prisoners simply go in, do their time and fuck off once it's done, these prisoners are fine and nobody has an issue with them. Then you've got the higher risk prisoners who are antagonistic pricks but not exactly a serious danger to society, just dumb retards who have drug addictions or can't handle their drink without glassing someone. Then you've got the more dangerous guys who have committed a serious crime like rape or murder but either instantly recognised the seriousness of the situation and decided to be good or still have a chip on their shoulder. Then you have the highest category: the completely mentally unstable retards who have committed a high level crime but also show absolutely no sense of remorse and will likely kill again if given the opportunity, these are the most dangerous people in society and need to be locked up forever.

Yet everyone in the government seems to assume every single prisoner is in the first category or the second. That Timpson guy who employed offenders to work in his key cutting shops assumed that everyone was like that because obviously the only people eligible to be released to work in places like that were very low risk criminals on good behavior. This has completely tainted his entire perception of criminals.

Part of it is also the 'ethics' part of being a politician, you know, the code of conduct that says racism is a heccin' nono and sexism is bad and we should always see the best in others. You literally cannot be a politician and run on the idea of turning prisons into hellscapes as your party would send you to HR. Whenever a justice secretary is grilled on TV they always revert to REHABILITATION and just keep spouting that over and over again and then act like the reporter RAPED AND KILLED THEIR FAMILY if they even suggest that prison should be about keeping violent people away from society.

The prisons rot is genuinely the angriest I get about modern politics because at every stage it's sanitised by corporate HR to the point where nobody can really do anything. There are some very simple solutions that would fix prisons overnight, hell you could introduce policies that could be implimented within the next TEN MINUTES and it'd double prison capacity. Yet everything is filtered through department to department until you end up with a justice secretary who can't do shit but wail about how the previous government fucked them over and they can't do anything and their job is so hard waaah.

Unfortunately this is a problem with a lot of previous white western countries. Australia is having major issues with browns because we are treating them like human beings instead of 3rd world retards. Our politicians are also scared of being called racist, import violent clashing brown biomass, and then whinge that the plebs are complaining.

Ongoing 'Unite the Clans' protests in Glasgow, with some throwing bits at police (X). Anti immigration protestors very close to clashing (X) with 'Green brigade' and Antifa being chased out (X). On week two (or three?) now of near daily protests about sex offenders up there, Christ. Commonwealth Games, and the city looks like a dump.
Are the police up there even more unorganised than in England? I feel like if English protesters "attacked" a migrant/delivery driver, none of them would be able to move an inch, perhaps I'm not seeing all the videos but feels like they're not being as fucked up by the police?

Why? He’s murdered someone who annoyed him. Cheating isn’t exactly nice but it’s not worthy of murder. Dealing death in response to humiliation means he is incapable of being in society safely. An offence against the ego should not be met by death. Murder is justifiable when your person is in danger, or someone else is in danger of death. Kill a burglar in fear of your life? Fine.
Someone who murders someone who has abused their child? That’s neither deplorable nor wrong.

There is a really big misunderstanding on how brutal the police are in England for around 95% of the country. If a migrant was getting his head kicked in in London, Manchester or Birmingham you'd have the fucking riot guys over in 5 minutes. If it was Gateshead, Hornsea or Cornwall then it's more likely the migrant would die of old age from waiting for a copper.

The police are notoriously underfunded and understaffed to the point where unless anything happens in one of the big cities, it takes almost a full day to arrange enough staff to head on down the country to a hotspot. The recent riots in Northern Ireland were pretty much a sign of what would happen if anything kicked off in a small town in England. Day one would see a minor police response before they were chased away and the cars burnt followed by the second day when they grabbed literally everyone they could from neighbouring regions and were able to fend them off.

The police are also incredibly lucky that these sort of violent hotspots don't appear out of nowhere, as usually protesters will say "we'll protest tomorrow" giving the police 24 hours to sort shit out and get the hardest cunts they can. If for example, people in Southport kicked off on the very DAY of the Axel R attack instead of protesting the next day then they could have fucking taken Southport.

My gut tells me most of the force would be busy hanging around the Commonwealth games areas, checkpoints, aid stations, diverting traffic, checking for mohammedans, the usual gaff at large events, hence why there's not a lot going on (I have no idea though). If there were more police, things would get very hot very quickly imho. There's a video of a police van knocking a Scottish fella over though. Reports of them kettling protestors earlier but it was broken pretty quickly. Someone lobbed a cone at a migrant delivery driver. Counter protestors did a bit of shouting while protestors sung Rule Britannia. It's all very quiet looking despite grifter accounts posting GLASGOW BOILING OVER!!!11!!!1! Seen a few interesting flags being swung about, but nothing like the protests that occurred in Glasgow (and Edinburgh) after the Belfast beheading.

If you think about it that is a worse sign than if it was a very pissed off and chaotic protest. A protest this relatively calm and steady is a sign that it isn't just a heat of the moment rage but coordinated and long term anger.
