UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Right which is why mentally breaking them down is one way to get the message across that the hero you look upto isn't as a faithful and righteous as he portrays himself to be. Two ways around to do this is to make their life so miserable and painful that they would beg for death and the only way to stop it is to get them to renounce their beliefs and motivations to the public to demoralize their believers.
We do not destroy the heretic because he resists us: so long as he resists us we never destroy him. We convert him, we capture his inner mind, we reshape him. We make him one of ourselves before we kill him.

You'd have better luck rehabilitating Jack the Ripper.

For the same reason I'm against the assisted dying BS I'm against the death penalty. I do NOT trust any UK govt with that level of power over life and death.
Agreed. While the death penalty (asked for or given for crime) looks good on paper, in practice it’ll be a nightmare. You only have to look at how much it costs the system in the US with all the endless appeals convicts are legally allowed before they’re necked.

If the police in the U.K. can’t be arsed to prosecute anything unless it’s politically expedient to do so, and they make mistakes upon mistakes, they absolutely can’t be trusted to do a competent job in death penalty cases. That’s not even beginning to take into account police who know people in the locale and want certain people gone, who might be bribed or motivated by racism, laziness or whatever to falsify or miss out evidence.

Then you’ve got the CPS who are fucking useless at the best of times, and will chuck out as many cases as possible because it’s cheaper than allowing them to go to court and having an actual judge and jury decide.

Then you have dodgy witnesses with an axe to grind, people who might be scared or bribed, guaranteed useless arms of officialdom like social services or the probation service who are packed with naive idiots or jaded oldsters (either of which can be a strong influence on evidence).

And then you have the good old jury of your peers, guaranteed to be packed to the gills with angry idiots who would rather be anywhere but cooped up in a boring courtroom, missing out on their wages and ruining their routines. People who bring their own prejudices along with them, many of whom are too fucking stupid to understand an analogue clock, never mind how DNA evidence works.

It’s the same with assisted dying; layer upon layer of idiots, all of whom can have exactly the wrong kind of influence at the wrong time on the final decision of death. Especially those in the benefits or healthcare system (we all know sick people are unproductive units and aren’t worth the cost to be kept alive).

In an ideal world, the death penalty for murdering, raping, animal abusing fuckheads should be a simple thing. Guilty, fuck them off to the lethal injection room the next day. The same for assisted dying, with those who have untreatable cancer or other horribly painful deaths knocking at their door being allowed to choose to just fall asleep and never wake up before the endless hours, days and weeks of agony arrive.

But, life is full of arseholes and pitfalls, liars and cunts. If you give the government the power to kill citizens for a crime or an illness, they’ll rapidly find a way to kill those they dislike ostensibly for these reasons, even when we all know they’re lying. I don’t trust them, and neither should you. The government for the last 40+ years has been shown to actively dislike the general population of the U.K. and to work against them, regarding them as annoying vermin that have to be kept in check to allow the ‘real’ work of profiting from the country to go ahead. For fuck’s sake, don’t give them even more power over you by giving them the right to kill you at will.

I still wouldn’t trust the police enough to report shit. Something like 1% of rapes end in conviction. We all know the state of policing. Despite the ‘we take all reports of historical abuse seriously’, they don’t. If they did, they’d need to quadruple the amount of police to deal with the investigations.

This gaggle of child abusing cunts is the tip of the shitberg, and no-one in a position of power wants to deal with what’s really happening to kids in this country,

He referred to it as “one murder in dunblaine”.
That was remarkably out of touch and insensitive, and not likely to make people sympathetic to your general cause.
By "one murder" he meant one incident where the police massively screwed up before hand and now everyone is worse off. But because he's a retard he said "one murder" and didn't consider what the BBC ect could do with that word choice. It's not the first time he's done this either, thinking back to the ethnonationalism debacle.

No matter what he says or how he says it the BBC is gonna twist it around, if they don't just straight up lie. You are more likely to get a fair coverage from the fucking Pravda than you are from the BBC. Anyone who is gonna just take the BBC on their word about shit like this in 2026 is not someone who is ever gonna be voting for Lowe in the first place.

Not to say the Lowe doesn't have issues with boomerisms or slips of the tongue, but given everything going on he is almost as good as physically possible.

King Arthur will awake from his slumber before the BBC has anything positive to say about Rupert Lowe or Restore Britain.

I personally think if you're convicted of the same crime multiple times on multiple separate occasions, the death penalty should be used. Because let's face it, by the time you've been convicted of shoplifting for the 14th time, it's pretty fucking clear that you're never going to stop and become a functioning member of society. Plus, the odds of someone being falsely convicted of the same crime several times is astronomically low.
We waste so many resources on people who will just go in and out of prison constantly for their entire adult life, sucking up public funds and harming people's lives throughout that time, until they gracelessly expire from a drug overdose.

I’d happily hang rudukabana but there are multiple reasons promising this is dumb;
- you cant retroactively sentence people
Just do what the prisons already do with inmates they want bumped off; accidently leave them alone with a bunch of inmates that really want them dead, accidently forget to ensure that said inmates don't have any improvised weapons, and accidently have all of the guards be absent for long enough for the inevitable to happen.

I’d go the other way with capital punishment and hand it out for everything. Like in the Kurt Vonnegut books, every crime got the hook so there was no crime.
With the recent shower of ‘everything is a crime, even if you only think about it’ governments, I can’t think of a faster way to ensure a bloody revolution.

A Draconian criminal code can work, but it has to be in the sense of a truly English watchman state. The state criminalises activities that directly harm life or property under natural law, authorises death as the punishment, and leaves it to a jury to determine the facts and therefore guilt of the accused party.

This existed in the 1800s in Britain. It was not criminal to do most things that the state criminalises today, and where an offense brought death the offender would usually be pronounced innocent even where guilt was certain, except in cases of severe or repeat offending. Steal? Don't do it again. If you do it again, you only have yourself to blame for getting the rope.

It wouldn't work today because any jury is going to be voting along ethnic lines, rather than a true sense of justice, and the legal classes will ensure that every conviction is stayed indefinitely because hanging violates a gang rapists right to life.

The whole shouldn't have a death penalty because government is corrupt is retarded. Life in prison for an innocent person is worse than a quick death, disagree if you are stupid I won't bother with that part.
The real crux of the argument I want to touch on. Do you think more innocent people are spared by the elimination of the death penalty than innocent people are victimized by rapists and murderers that go out after they've served their term instead of getting shot?

I still wouldn’t trust the police enough to report shit. Something like 1% of rapes end in conviction.
1% of rape accusations. If memory serves despite around 80% of cases going to the courts resulting in a conviction on 8% of reported crimes make it to the courts. To make that worse bear in mind recent cases like the lad who got assaulted by two people in Birmingham on camera who the police opted not to investigate further, bet that does not go down as reported. A lot of crimes now are just not being recorded as the police aren't doing anything and because some cases blatantly will not be viable to investigate, so the actual accusations of crime to conviction rate likely isn't even half that 8%. Bringing it close to the regularly touted rape statistics.

In addition a non-zero part of the problem is gumming up the system with incredibly shoddy cases that don't stand a chance in hell of conviction, then running to the BBC to cry about how you were not believed meaning the police then re-investigate with fresh scrutiny. Which was an issue before the continually pushed idea that consent can withdrawn at any time including after and will not have gotten better since.

It's like the article we had a while back about the disabled activist who got called a mean word in a station. Due to his outraged shrieking to the media that matter which was due to be ignored by the police suddenly they have to investigate something that they know they likely cannot secure a conviction on even if they throw every bit of hate crime legislation int he book at it. But because that individual case has been deemed a priority every other one can get stuffed.

We are not an English state anymore, we no longer have the luxury of nuance. We now have to take the perspective of cannon execution in India. You have to set an example to the sub 70 IQ’s that even they understand.

Dealing with the corruption is much easier. The Fabian manifesto is a declaration of war against western culture. They are at war with us so they are no longer civilians.

Bring back the death penalty, bring back public hanging, especially for dangerous/radicalised Muslims and the grooming gang rapists, I'd say it might deter more of those cockroaches to do it, but that'd be a giant fat lie.

Though, we wouldn't need to be discussing this as much if we were not actively importing rapists and other criminals into our country. Broadmoor is a place where the seriously mentally unstable will go, but that doesn't mean it isn't "nice" or that every patient there isn't completely sedated out of their minds because they wouldn't have facilities like:
Screenshot 2026-07-25 at 09.07.53.png
Granted, I imagine that only well-behaved patients get to use most of these facilities, if they are even coherent. The only way Axel is going back to Belmarsh or any other high-security prison (which still has amenities and facilities that these cunts shouldn't get), doctors will need to determine that he no longer requires treatment in hospital, he can be transferred back to prison to continue serving his sentence.

I highly doubt (and I want to be wrong) that he will be leaving Broadmoor, so I hope you're all happy with your tax money going towards him enjoying all those nice facilities like a fucking summer camp if you ask me, just fucking end the nig.

Perhaps I'm just not a very emotional type. I get why people would want to see Axel suffer year after year for what he's done, but... I don't really see him as a person. And I don't really see the point of paying £60k a year to feed and water and contain it. It's just a thing to be put down and we all try to move on the best we can.

The death penalty is needed to restore law and order, simple as. Our modern justice system and prisons are meant for a society of Brits (Europeans, at a push) who at least have a vague understanding of justice, law, order, punishment. When you import savages who attack people in the street randomly, the social contract no longer exists. LKY understood that societies with different nationalities need corporal punishment to keep them in line, and the Chinese understand that when you have a nation of spastic retard nationalities, you need to be executing them within a week and selling the organs of your fringe religious extremists.
You have the island of Jersey, tiny villages in Pembroke and Oxfordshire, going from 0 crimes a year to multiple rapes. That sort of issue is only fixed by mass death of undesirables and reprobates and a reminder that ultimately, is it the state who has the monopoly of violence over you. It is not a pleasant thought, but we must make ourselves comfortable with unpleasant things like the state hanging horse buggerers and kiddy fiddlers.

Green Party not doing well, polling at 8% in Westminster. They also say they will twin Manchester with Ramallah, Palestine, if they win the mayoral election. I think Labour will win the Manc election though, Number 10 North will likely win them a lot of popularity as people feel they are being 'listened to' by ol Andy sticking Ange above a Slug and Lettuce.

More Irish news, and worth keeping an eye out to see if there are any reports of this here; Muzzies are reportedly dumping their filthy prayer rugs over the church rails in Tullamore (X, the image of them burning on twitter is AI generated)

EDIT: The articles were not archived and have been deleted, but according to screenshots (X) she did two years in Syria with a 'political group' and has potentially dabbled in political terrorism before (X). Saoradh is a far left offshoot of the IRA. There are both far left and far right groups who call themselves the 'New IRA', as well, but Saoradh denies all links to any of them.

There isn't one, except to ensure the blob-types get to feel good about saving some poor socioeconomic factors victim of the system from the death penalty.

There is no chance of rehabilitation, there is no chance or restoring to the victims their pre-crime position. The man is dead already, he is essentially experiencing life as a vegetable, but within 4 walls rather than a wheelchair. He has no self-determination, but it still costs money. There is no purpose to this.

At least the rope spares the public of further expense.

I agree. A quick quiet hanging, and buried within the prison walls in an unmarked pit. No drama, no focus for martyrs.
You can rehabilitate some people - a kid growing up with neglect who nicks a car or graffitis something can, potentially, be rehabbed IF circumstances and they want to.
Sadistic violence, sexual violence, crimes against children, and I’d argue extreme violence towards animals as well - these don’t get rehabilitated - they’re wrong on a level that cannot be fixed. Pedophilia for example is something baked in. It’s not fixable.
The other problem we face is that the state is not honest and uses the justice system not to enact actual justice but to enact ideology and protect its own.
Both problems can only be solved with a reform of the law and frankly, scraping the mess that is Whitehall out like a rotten gourd.
