UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Última edición por un moderador:
So this fucker is possibly living off the state with an ADHD/Autism/Anxiety combo of NEETbux and the state got him a car (with taxpayers money) so he could drive 200 miles to brutally murder a politician who was roughly 3 and a half showers from passing away naturally.

When you get raped by the taxman with every payslip every month, remember it's going to charitable causes like... this?
The purpose of a system is what it does.

The court sketch of Ann Wiidecombe’s killer looks absolutely nothing like his photo, in this article from the Times. Why has he changed race in the court sketch? 🤔
We barely even know all that much besides apparently this guy was a Reddit mod (which looking at that image I 100% believe) but as a whole we have heard next to nothing about the guy besides sop stories about him being slow, his dad dying, etc. I wouldn't be shocked if the week long silence and them burying this with that right wing terror plot hoax was just so they could delete and scrub all of his accounts off of the internet (I did hear that his Reddit community's mods took this upon themselves but take that with a grain of salt).

There is always a degree of artistic license in courtroom sketches, as IIRC the artists are not allowed to draw in the courtroom and can't take photos for reference either, so it is all from memory. There is a different sketch from a different artist which looks more like the office photograph (which itself is two or three years old) if you took most of the hair and beard off and made it fatter.

It doesn't help that someone ran the pixellated camera through an AI which has then hallucinated what it thinks Kerry looks like, and this is now being treated as a legitimate screengrab.

Every time Burnham speaks it's like nails on a chalkboard, like it's not even because he's scouse but because it's this weird combo of scouse mixed with mancurian combined with him always speaking in some sort of false positive tone. Having every second fucking sentence be a HR approved punchline is just killing me.
It's always been incredibly strange to me that a Liverpuddlian (Aintree iirc?) is the figurehead for Manchester. It sort of bypasses the traditional football rivalry that you'd expect, or even the idea that Mancs are most proud of Manchester, but he isn't working class or a man of the actual people in any way. There's a weird sort of... passiveness, or safeness, to it. This man who isn't from the area can be proud of the area. He's always been very strange to me. Anyway he's already U-turned on the fucking personal tax limit.

The skin colour is completely different. He looks swarthy/olive skinned / Mediterranean in the court pictures, and white in that way people with a touch of The ginger are in that picture of him at work.
I've never seen a court room sketch where a white person looks white (ie pinkish undertones), they always have that weird grimy brown, or completely grey, look to them. I think it's a combination of skin being really hard to colour quickly, and the nasty lights of the courtroom. He does look off though.

Nasty incident in Potato land. 5 African migrants started attacking people in a village of less than 3000 people (X), apparently an elderly Irish man was stabbed during the incident, with many unconfirmed reports of other victims. Ireland is sleepwalking into Rwanda.
The Garda Press Office has confirmed to the Celt this evening that they were alerted to a public order incident on Main Street, Virginia, Co Cavan, just after 5pm this evening (Tuesday), July 21.
A spokesperson said: "Several persons have been conveyed to hospital. Investigations are ongoing."
The Celt understands that a group of youths were involved in a public order incident close to Lough Ramor, which spilled on to the streets of the town.
A large garda presence is being reported on the ground this evening.
A garda source told this newspaper that five juveniles have been arrested for public order offences and are currently being detained at stations in Bailieborough and Cavan for questioning.

Yes, I nearly posted in here last night after seeing a "That ain't the same guy" video on YouTube. When I started looking for the photo of him getting in the car I realised that there was no uncensored footage out there, and some of these commentators seem to be making some conspiracy theory based on "unpixellated" video not looking like a courtroom sketch (which is done from memory). I think this is a situation where it would be a good idea to just wait a bit to avoid looking foolish later.

Yeah all the “it’s not the same guy” debate is really pointless conspiracy bullshit which is diverting from the serious matter.

In the neighbour CCTV we see an older looking, fatter, disheveled guy than the Facebook photos. But that’s fine, he’s older and fatter, and has different hair. We don’t get a clear look at his face anyway. I’m quite happy to accept that it’s the same guy and the courtroom sketch is probably quite accurate as far as they go.

Fucking Redditor psycho.

Bus fare caps, shuffling money around in ways that functionally increase spending while not actually improving anything, and presumably a mass housing construction project that just happens to leave lots of expensive property in the hands of his benefactors. Manchesterism has finally arrived.

BBC's live blog provided a handy breakdown of the national budget.

I bet half of that 400 billion "social protection" budget goes on migrants at this point.
