UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Última edición por un moderador:
Alastair never disappointing in how much of a traitorous, establishment cunt he is. But this interview was pretty good as the two guys really showed how Alastair has zero critical thinking skills and is pretty much just a spin doctor and master of gaslighting.

I watched it with the family and it was a really miserable match once they got that first goal, England just stopped trying to score and let the rest of the match play down their end of the field, which made it inevitable that Argentina would score eventually.
This attitude, of doing the bare minimum and the coasting, is so pervasive in this country. Pisses me off. Whatever happened to belt and braces? We should never have stopped wearing suits to building sites.

The worst part is the fucking mutts celebrating without understanding what they're talking about.

Tbh the only thing more irritating than watching England lose is watching non-football fans post the condescending "England fans beat their wives when England loses" post.

We get it, you hate football. The study is something that could only happen in a pozzed first world country that likes to extrapolate data to make studies fit with their original assumption. It could easily be switched to "Complete fucking retards statistically marry abusive football fans" with a little tweaking, but even then I'm not convinced by the mystical 30% rise that only ever happens when England lose. That implies a baseline domestic violence rate which is simply ludicrous.

Put it this way, if a drone could get that close to a large group of people, imagine what would happen if said drone was carrying a grenade like the ones in Russia/Ukraine.
Imagine if someone walked up near another person and was carrying a grenade. Imagine if someone threw a ball for a dog but it was actually a grenade. Imagine if someone gave you a birthday cake, but there was a grenade in it.

None of these acts, including flying a drone, are terrorism. All of these acts, including flying a drone, have a non-terrorist ordinary version. Unless there was a grenade in it, unless they have good reason to suppose there might be, it's not terrorism.

Plus the sort of drones that carry big payloads are usually large things. The sort of drone you buy in a shop or on Amazon is usually

There better be a Hell of a good reason they're holding these people under terrorism laws.

I agree, and it's not something I say lightly because the Falklands is a touchy point for me,like so many others. However, the "English" football team, well, it isn't. It's overwhelmingly niggers who weren't born here, who should never have been allowed to stay here.
Of the current England team's non white players only two of them were born outside of England.

Oh my fucking God.

I could just about handle "they're spying on you to control wrongthink".

The idea of "they're doxing you to provide an audit trail to maximise their advertising revenue" is such a banal reason that... well I don't really have any words.
Remember, the entire Google empire, Youtube, Google search, Gemini AI, everything. It's subsidized by their ad network. Last I heard (it's been a few years and this could have changed) literally nothing else they have is profitable. Adsense makes up the difference.

And the advertisers are now demanding to know down to the second viewer metrics and for them to purge the ad data of bot viewers. The only way to do so is to dox the entire world and end the very concept of privacy online. But they don't have a choice. It's either do so or adjust their business model, and they can't do that.

Equal pay for work of equal value was an approach designed to equalise how different jobs were treated, e.g. the sewing machinists at the Ford plant in Dagenham were treated as "unskilled" labour and paid less than the men, despite the fact sewing leather car seats was a skill, because they felt it was a woman's job and the women didn't need the money as much as men. The principle was sound, if the jobs were equally skilled or equally difficult, but one was female dominated, you couldn't just pay the female dominated job less or deprive them of work related benefits. Unfortunately this has ultimately lead to the insanity of grading systems where a dinner lady has to be paid the same as a binman, and you can't give the binman paid overtime without giving it to the dinner lady. This has bankrupted some councils and is making it harder to recruit for roles nobody wants to do (because if you offer competititve wages to bin men, you've also got to give all the dinner ladies a rise, which you might not be able to afford).

Asda checkout staff to work in warehouses under store shake-up

Asda checkout staff will also work in store warehouses under a new turnaround plan. The supermarket giant has told shop-floor staff that they must take on different tasks, such as stock-picking and shelf-stacking, regardless of their job description. It means staff will no longer be tied to a single department and will instead be used in multiple roles across the store.

Workers were informed of the shake-up on Wednesday morning, “We will review colleague rotas and working patterns to ensure we have the right number of colleagues at the right times to deliver task and service,” Asda said in an internal note. “We are moving away from colleagues working exclusively within a single department and moving to a more flexible way of working across four key areas – replenishment, process, service and picking.”

The shake-up is the latest turnaround attempt by the debt-laden chain, which is struggling to improve its fortunes after declining sales. Around 7,500 staff have been let go in the last year, as it struggles to keep up with a ballooning debt interest bill of £730m.

The latest employee reshuffle comes after the chain was embroiled in a dispute over equal pay. Asda is facing a lawsuit worth up to £1.2bn from its mostly female shop-floor workers, who claim they were paid less than warehouse workers, who were mostly men. However, the supermarket denied there was a link between moving staff into different roles and the equal pay dispute, which has claims dating back to 2008.

More redundancies

Asda has wobbled from one crisis to another in recent years, with its debt interest bill soaring eight-fold from £90m after the takeover by private equity firm TDR Capital and the Issa brothers in 2021. Since the takeover, the supermarket giant’s share of the grocery market has plunged from 14.4pc to 11.5pc. As a result, its position as Britain’s third most popular grocer is under threat, with Aldi boasting market share of 10.8pc – up from 7.9pc. The retailer also suffered during the Christmas period, reporting falling sales when its main rivals were seeing increases.

It hopes that shaking up staff responsibilities and shift patterns will help it improve the selection of fresh produce, bakery and keep shelves better stocked. It also emerged on Wednesday that some stores deemed to be over-staffed would offer staff voluntary redundancies. Asda said this would apply to less than 1pc of its 90,000-strong store-based workforce.

It emerged after Asda was accused of betraying workers and risking customer safety, as more than 300 security guards were placed in redundancy consultation. The guards, who are employed by outsourcer Mitie, risk being let go amid a surge in shoplifting and violence against retail staff. An Asda spokesman said: “We’re making some changes to our ways of working in stores to improve service and standards for customers. Shopping habits have changed, with demand peaking at different times across the store. “These changes will ensure colleagues are in the right place at the right time while bringing greater consistency to how key tasks are completed across all locations.”

I disagree a bit, because with any of those methods you need to personally get close to the target to the point where you will definitely be spotted and killed or arrested.
Even something like a remote detonated bomb or car bomb you had to go there and hide it, with a high chance of being spotted.

Using a drone, you can target even very well protected individuals or groups, with a good chance of staying concealed and getting away with it.
Long distance sniper rifle is also pretty unreliable, not that anyone in the UK has those in the first place.

So that’s why they are jumpy about drones.

In this case though I agree it’s most likely a stitch up of some harmless group or “auditors” or hell, even if they are anti-Muslim, who isn’t these days, I’d be very surprised if they had any intention of harming them. Could be wrong but I don’t see any good reasons to take the cops word for it.

Chasing Aldi, who have done this for decades. That they can use it to negate claims of pay disparity is a bonus, but the main aim is to cut costs by making staff more mobile. Warehouse staff will be working the shop floor now. That's going to be a disaster. When I worked there, the kind of people who worked the back end were the sort of people you did not want interacting with customers. That's why they were put in the back to begin with.
Could be wrong but I don’t see any good reasons to take the cops word for it.
Is there ever a reason to take their word for it, these days?

Most supermarkets have done this for years, "customer assistant" is not revolved around one job now, It means you are a shop assistant, you could be on the checkouts, stacking shelves, at the back handling extra stock, in a different department. I suspect a lot of the workers who may have an issue with this are the older lot who are pretty comfortable and used to just being on a checkout.

But it also depends on the managers to get you trained on different departments, depending on what they are. At least, that was my experience at my time in retail, though the last time I went into an Asda it was full of niggers with trolleys full of bottled water and pushing each other in order to reach the yellow sticker products first.

Evil? They seem fine to me, asking the right questions?

@Eekum Bokum Being born in England doesn't make you English, they're niggers.
I'm not an ethno-nationalist I don't give a shit. I was just pointing out that only two of them were born outside of the UK and not all of them. I'm a bit of a pedant sometimes.

I don't give a fuck about your pedantry and I don't care about your opinion. I am an ethno nationalist. One day, someone close to you is going to be culturally enriched. And when that happens, maybe you'll change your mind. Maybe not though, certain types just loooooooovvvvee to cling to the My Pet Nigger theory.

I don't call them commies IRL anymore but levellers is a both a funny historical reference and also a pertinent current year slur.
God knows it'll all be levelled to dust if the cleaning lady/binman precedent gets taken to it's logical conclusion, gonna be a bigger debt to pay off than buying out the slaves, utter lunacy.

Pretty much everywhere everyone is supposed to be able to do anything as need be, it's always been like that de jure, de facto is another matter because it really depends on the place. Even employers like the slave-driving discounters have designated people for designated roles, even though they've all got the same job title they all do different "jobs".
The fuck-up has been a technical one; the cleaning ladies won because of retarded nomenclature on the part of the councils (instead of just having different jobs theory were all "band x" which has the implication of similarity even though it really really doesn't in practice) and now because judges are retarded we're all gonna suffer over it, KILL ALL THE LAWYERS.

What makes you think it hasn't happened? You think if someone close to me was attacked by a brown I'd be like you? Don't think so little of me.
