A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Última edición por un moderador:
Strange wording here.
Why "anti-muslim hatred" and not their usual "Islamaphobia"?
I assume because "islamophobia" was probably testing bad with their test-audiences, so they had to come up with something stronger when writing the tweets for them.

"Anti" and spelling out "hatred" feels more visceral.

Suspect it is because they can make it sound more racial, as opposed to religious.
Its really freaky how they both trot out the exact same line of "Appears to be motivated by anti Muslim hatred". Its the exact same quote, like someone wrote both tweets or are following precise instructions on how to word it.
I doubt any of these people write their own tweets; they have a media company/PR team that keeps everything on message.
They will contact the party/MP/Starmer and have them approve the message, and then that gets sent out to all relevant platforms and media orgs.

That's why it's always the same old stuff because it is literally a template they work off of. I've written software to do this.

If you're bored, you can write to the four terrorists who smashed up Elbit drones and a policewoman's back, which may (if they're even allowed to receive the letters) brighten their lives in the hellholes that are HMP Bronzefield and Belmarsh.
No! No you can't! Update from the Filton 25 website, dated 19 June:

Due to the terror connection ruling, in two weeks the Filton4 will no longer be able to receive letters from the public. This is an urgent call to write to them to show solidarity and encouragement before this happens.
Guess Ellie will have to figure out 'herbalism that could be useful in prison' the old-fashioned way.

Rupert has confirmed that Restore will be standing a candidate in the Greater Manchester mayoral by-election.

I apologise for quoting myself, but there is more information that is relevant - the Manchester Mill newspaper reports that the candidate will be Marlon West, a rape gang justice advocate whose daughter was one of the victims. You may have come across him on X.

So those of you who want Restore to make more capital out of the Rape Gang Inquiry and Report are going to get your wish.

So what would a potential Burnham regime look like? Even more green lunacy? U-turning on Israel? OFCOM sending more ineffectual letters to Josh?
Hard to predict because of the similarity to Starmer and what the cabinet picks are - I don't think he's even given hints about the picks, which is what you'd expect a leadership candidate to use as a signal for the change they want.

Either way, you either get Starmer on the speed limit or Starmer with no brakes, that's really it.
Count Binface is very reddity.
It's the equivalent of the Soviets wheeling out a comedy act making fun of the capitalists for their terrible planned economy and bread lines, unlike superior Soviet establishment planning.
