A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Here's a question, lads.
In your area, have you noticed any sort of uptick in England flags around that weren't already up for the World Cup? (As in, flags put up for Raise the Colours that never went down)
Because outside of the local pub, my area hasn't got any additional flags. I'm hoping this is the start to the end of the captive fascination our country has to niggerteam playing the semen slurping sport that is modern football.
Shit loads near us, even in the middle and upper class areas. If you go around the more working class and council estate parts, there are entire streets still covered in England and union flags and a lot of them have been replaced with new ones when taken down by the council.

I still find it crazy how Redditors insist that we've "never been a flaggy country" despite the fact that people have always gone fucking flag mad the moment sporting events are on for as long as I can remember. Back in the 90's, we used to put the Americans to shame with how insanely patriotic we used to get the moment a major event was on to give us the excuse to fly a flag or paint our faces for niggerball matches.

Rupert has confirmed that Restore will be standing a candidate in the Greater Manchester mayoral by-election.

An interesting quirk of this particular by-election will be the electoral system - the government have brought forward a change that was supposed to happen next year, presumably to shore themselves up/fuck Reform. They have reintroduced the old Supplemental Vote system, which gives voters a first and a second preference, which will allow Restore-curious voters to give their first preference to that candidate and then choose whichever party of the likely victors they prefer, if any.

Sounds like voting methods for Scottish Parliament so can end up with with people getting in without getting direct votes for them and essentially giving more party power

Eh, it's not really the same. In a mayoral election it's just an election for one guy, there's one winner. There aren't any additional people that could get elected.

It is utter nonsense. There are many rural towns near me; every single one has England flags up during fetes, carnivals or any large events.

I've seen a lot of people display the Union Flag, St George's Cross, Y Ddraig Goch etc. in the cars/camper vans, etc.

FFS, my tea mug has the Union Flag on it.

Anyone with a brain saw this coming, but I guess that rules out a large part of the government. If you have a system where islamic violence is minimized and tolerated you'll see anti-islamic violence.

I just hope the right doesn't fall into the pitfall of trying to apologize and damage control for this when the media inevitably try to weaponize it against them. In fact I hope Rupert can turn it into more coverage of the pakistani muslim rape gangs.

I’m a little confused as to how that works. With standard elections you often have to choose the lesser of two evils if you think the good guys don’t have a chance at willing, but this way you can put the lesser of two evils as your second choice and feel confident in making a good one your first choice

Yes, that is pretty much the intention, although it doesn't always work that way (voters either not using their second preference, or choosing a second preference that also doesn't make it to the top 2).

Many media outlets are reporting that Starmer has decided to quit.

Immediate responses from the government. Don't look back in anger folks

Video of masked men in Bham ''hunting for foreigners'' with police following. I feel like we've jumped 3+ years on the timeline to civil conflict, somehow.
Twats at the Canary accidentally got a bunch of counter-protestors arrested after posting a video though. Swings and roundabouts

Has Starmer ever thundered that a criminal non-White will "face the full force of the law"? Or is the apparatus of the state only wielded against White Britons who displease him? He loves talking about using the law to batter White people into submission, it's very telling.

Its really freaky how they both trot out the exact same line of "Appears to be motivated by anti Muslim hatred". Its the exact same quote, like someone wrote both tweets or are following precise instructions on how to word it.
