UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Última edición por un moderador:
Even if we did have someone willing to round up every non white and launch them from catapults back into France, there would be a civil war within 5 seconds, every country on Earth would sanction us into oblivion if not outright invade us.
the pakis are kicking the afghans out their country and no-ones invading them.

Your assessment is correct. Around 75% of voters are in favour of preserving current state of things or in favour of increasing migration. People here may want to bury their head in the sand, but outside of small echo chambers online, that is the mainstream opinion.

Nothing will change it. Grooming gangs, dodgy main street shops, all flavour of the month horrific stories on the news did not sway the public. If those did not change public perception, then nothing will.
I think you're projecting a lot there. I'd suggest it's more like 45% are against immigration, 33% are in favour or not concerned or brown and the remainder will vote for the one with the biggest tits / who has the ball / who has the best handbag.

I'm from an area that was pro-immigration, but the window has shifted, people are noticing, it's not for it any more. They aren't necessarily "launch illegals into the Sun" yet, but it's only a couple of big events away. You won't be deemed racist for questioning its value now. After years of indoctrination it will take time for the susceptible to change course. The problem is time is of the essence. Once some things are lost, they are gone forever.

This is quite eyebrow-raising if you look into what is actually being proposed. This tweet from the Home Office outlines the government's next great idea:

In other words, the British government wants to require hardware manufacturers to install spyware on their devices, that will scan every image on the device and then block it from being viewed if it's flagged as nudity.

The only way this particular proposal can work is if there's software on the device that scans every image file and then decides to filter them. That's a massive amount of processing of user data that goes beyond the typical behaviour of an operating system. Here's an example of a commercial product that does this that I found. All I would say is, I really hope the company behind this is reputable and has good cybersecurity, because anyone who is buying these products is placing a lot of trust in them.

If we're taking what the Yookay government is saying at face value, then every new phone sold here would have to have some version of this software.

I bet it would be conveniently glitchy when it comes to skin colour.

Fun fact, you can usually tell who is a non Brit in online discourse if they use the word 'bloody'.

It basically confirms that they're an Indian who has no stake in the matter if they're using a Coronation Street tier approved swear instead of calling you a cunt.
Indians are big fans of the term 'civic sense', which is an extremely unique term that only Indians seem to use.

I find that if I'm on Reddit, I can tell if a thread was created by an Indian before I've finished reading the title. They have such a specific way of attempting to use English.

Woman, 19, dies after gunshots heard at house

Entire article written in passive voice. Woman shot and killed, in finchley, right around the corner from the mosque. "Specially trained" officers giving the family support.

I'm 50/50 between a muslim killing a white girlfriend and a family "honour" killing a wayward daughter.
Thank god we have Sikh Detective Chief Inspector Allamdeep Banghoo on the case!!! Hopefully, he doesn't have to pull out his service kirpan while arresting the murderer once he cracks the case!

How the fuck will locking everything down even further into a Stasi hellscape work without a secret police to enforce it?
If I were writing a dystopian near-future novel based on the seeming actual state of present-day Britain, I would postulate that the "grooming gangs" are that secret police—a largely unwitting sleeper cell being groomed for that purpose. One day the trigger word will be said.

From outside, there already seems to be no separation between them and the police.

This is an American thought, apparently. The Brits I see and hear, dissidents all supposedly, will still be worshiping the cops as their skulls get stomped flat by them.

>tech bosses
My clitty is leaking again:
I fucking hate this type of faggot wording used in British news articles. It's never "CEO of Blackrock" or "CFO of Blackrock" it's always "Head Blackrock Boss" or "Blackrock money bosses" or some stupid shit along those lines. It's so infantalising and insulting to the intelligence of readers, like they are literally too retarded to know what a manager or ceo is. I fucking hate these people so much, I can't put it into words clearly enough.

My clitty is leaking again:
I would point out that this is The Daily Star, which is a tabloid pretty much explicitly meant for the proles. Scientists are "boffins", someone eating their dinner is having a "slap-up meal". This is a newspaper where the intended audience is the Norf FC meme character. If this were an article in The Times or The Telegraph then this would be a bit more egregious.

The tabloids do tend to be a bit quicker on the button to break stories like this, probably because they have lower editorial standards, so they do have a use.

Made in Wales was my sock, to try and radicalise the thread. Evidently it worked!
you've all the time in the world to make sock puppet accounts and none to write the warwick davis thread huh?

Seriously though, are we (general we) all going to have to give up our IDs to prove we are over 16/18? Will this be the roblox ID-verification where it can be bypassed with AI? Will we just all have to use VPNs? I know that this isn't about protecting children at all and is about censorship, but do kids just not get PSHE lessons anymore and warned in school and by parents to not take illicit photos of themselves to send to fucking strangers?
Praying hard on the U-turn holy shit.
