UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I don't disagree that he died because of his skin colour.
The police probably killed him. They certainly had no intention of saving him.

Stay in the UK, kid. Best to keep all the bell ends like you in one place so you don't shit up good parts of the world like you shit up Britain.

Oh no, anyway.
You might be the only person in this thread that is more disliked than I am. Kudos.

Leaving for America is not “betraying your tribe.” It is choosing a larger, freer, more ambitious civilization over the pile of shit that England has become.
Hope you think this way about the Indians going to America after all they are just choosing a larger, freer, more ambitious civiliSation over the pile of shit that India has become.

Look further back. Edit, or apparently don’t…
She was dealing with the Marxist unions actively sabotaging Britain.

To the yanks. Most of us Brits have a mental disease commonly referred to as crabs in a bucket drag each other back down. That’s why we hate to see us leave.

For those who ride the short bus, Henry's murder and consequent arrest by the police was disgusting and the MSM, and Hampshire police, have admitted they have different guidelines for arrest depending on who they're arresting, for the sake of "diversity and equality", their words. They say they must treat people differently, for the sake of equality...

For the noticers, none of this passes the sniff test.
Tommeh is an Israeli-paid shill who pushes division of the British while denouncing BNP, White-nationalists and those who want a pure white country by calling them "nazi's" and "racists".
MSM calling for people to react the same way about Henry as George Floyd is a little on the nose. Demanding people take the knee and pay tributes is retarded. Neither should have their murder or self-inflicted dead, respectively, held up above others' murders or deaths.
Henry's father was Polish. Henry was a dual-citizen of Britain and Poland, no different from dual-citizen pakis, sihks and wogs. None of them should be in a 'British only Britain'. Hard to hear under the circumstances, but it's true, unless you're a hypocrit.

If you can't see that Britain is lost, then please, stay where you are, do not leave and 'fight' by getting mad online and posting mean tweets. Those who leave for a better life won't be coming back, ever.

Fucking pussy ass bitch nigger. Kill yourself.

Weird, when I was growing up it was rats. That's why I had to be cautious around canals.
Norway's government still thinks it's rats (ticks are just a carrier, btw)
@Otterly you're our resident biohazard expert, what do know about Lyme disease? vs what Google says now?
The rat one is Weills disease. Caused by rat piss infested water.

Thatcher was the one who started the destruction of our manufacturing base
Thatcher was the one who started a war on the working class and middle classes to organize properly and not get squashed by the corporations
Thatcher was the one who politicized the police into the state it is in today
No, these things all started before thatcher. As I have outlined before:

It's the parties finding common cause for opposite reasons. Labour under Wilson and Callaghan wanted to move away from heavy industry and resource extraction to a more high-tech and service-oriented (and ultimately, technocratic-socialist) economic base, so began closures of the mines and the re-organisation of education to favour more academic and "scientific" career outcomes. Thatcher in turn wanted to break the unions after the strikes (using global warming as an excuse to move away from heavy industry and resource extraction in the process) and wanted to increase the economic power of the City and the global integration of the economy. The key difference between these marginally diverging goals was the economic system they expected to manage everything. Labour envisioned a heavily centralised command-control economy, where Thatcher preferred a deregulated, probably monopolised, mostly laissez-faire capitalist economy, but both viewed London as a global nexus of trade and finance, with the rest of the UK functioning as a mere economic adjunct to that nexus. In neither case did they particularly care about social cohesion, cultural continuity, or the state of the individual beyond their economic value.

They're blaming Thatcher for it, as if it's a purely right-wing project, but de-industrialisation started with Wilson and the Coal Industry Act in the 1960s. I have rambled on this before, but the short version is that Wilson, Heath, Calaghan, and Thatcher, and later Blair, were all intent on the same broad outcome of turning the UK into a financial services economy centred on London, with the rest of the country being made up of deracinated, interchangeable economic units.
I'll also add that it was heath that got us into the nascent EU, though if Wilson had remained in government at they point, he would have done the same thing.

An interesting bellwether is the UKPolitics subreddit. They're not jannying posts of people absolutely enranged at this shitshow.
Not just UKPol, all the traditional cock-sucking yookay subreddits.

argh United Kingdom is livid, they aren't breaking the conditioning, but even they are calling out the racial conditioning and 10iq policing.

Reminds me of Reddit for the two days between after Kamala lost and the bot farms getting the new standing orders. Except this time it's been since the trial ended, almost a week.
They've now got their marching orders - all the subs are now going on about Farage is evil for noticing and muh $5 million bribe

We had functional institutions, and functional civil services, but the labour party ideologically captured them,
It'll hurt you to hear that the UK was still 92% White British or Irish even as late as 2001 (early Blair). 95% in 1991. And what few visual minorities there were only in the big cities and many actually wanted to be British instead of exploiting here.
that Britons are of all colors and religions equally and without prejudice
Religion? Maybe, but discrimination on Christian denomination was long frowned upon due to the bloody cycles of martyrdom over the centuries.
Colour? It's not my place to talk about that, but it was better when we weren't just an economic zone.

The rat one is Weills disease. Caused by rat piss infested water.
There used to be big warning signs up on the river about Weil's when I was at school. They still let us row in it though :/
Do bats carry anything in this country? We seem to be quite lucky for diseases and dangerous animals and now import TB and measles and Afghans en masse.

Weirs or Weil's?
Neither is fun if you're mucking about in a boat, but there's a difference...
Both actually, there was a small weir further down the river. But the Weil's disease sign had a big rat with a X through on it and a list of symptoms. Never met anyone who caught it so I assumed it wasn't a serious risk and more of a liability thing for the boathouse. The swans were more dangerous and they never warned us about those

I know someone who caught leptosporosis (Weil's is the severe form of it) one time due to work (it's a present risk in his line of work). Told me it was pretty nasty shit to put up with, but he's made of stern stuff.
