Advertising is a tough field. You need to be attention grabbing, have a strong message and somehow rise above the endless noise that everyone else is creating. Stephen Lynch's Ads arguably aren't good enough to quite be that decisive--think about Trump shouting "I am Going to Make America Great Again!"--and it's clear 45 at least knows how to make a fast pitch.
What we have here is a man who can't look into the camera, can't even dress up for something that is going to be shown to the world, in front of what may well be a webcam, rattling on about his spouse. There is no set, there is no soundtrack, and in the age where it is perhaps easier and better than ever to show the story, there is a quirky recital.
One of the great things about democracy is that it is a popularity contest. People who can't even make it to business casual for a political broadcast are lunchmeat.
