Isn't the 007 franchise about a straight white guy who solves every problem with violence and sleeps with every women he sees? I thought Wu and her ilk considered movies like this to be problematic.

Yeah, but see if a darkie plays Bond then all that stuff is less bad, just ask John 'sand nigger' Flynt about it.

God, she really is the King of the Humblebrag.

"I got a copy of the new Tomb Raider, but I had to sign a NDA so I can't say anything about it. But rest assured, I'm definitely important enough to get a copy of the new Tomb Raider, and I'm super professional so I won't violate the NDA. So don't even ask about the new Tomb Raider, which I was important enough to get."

Prediction:
Her review will be written in glowing colors and she will blow glitter up Square Enix corporate butt, so she gets more free games in the future.

I have signed NDAs in the gaming industry and you aren't even allowed to mention the title you are covering/translating/working on. She already violated the NDA and I wouldn't do business with Wu if that's how he honors that agreement.

EDIT: You are allowed to talk about it after the game is published AND if you got crediting rights (not having them is rare but can still happen) and as long as you don't publish insider info, because that's very unprofessional. I'd say it's his first NDA because no one with experience would gamble on this. Or consider it a big deal.

Brianna,

Do you know when you are actually important? When someone who always gets NDAs does not ask you to sign a one specifically because ...

Trust

:story:

Where is Rev 60 *sigh*

I can confirm this despite not being in the industry. I know a notable voice actor who got a ton of flack about accidentally answering a question during a con Q&A. Do NOT mess with the NDA! Not even on accident live in the moment, let alone on social media.

Also, it should be noted that there are 100 articles from the last few days about the new Tomb Raider installment, so Brianna was not very special. More like the dev gave a copy to any person who asked through the correct channels.

While there are companies that are fairly lax about it, it's still regarded as unprofessional by your peers and therefore not a good idea in general. Attention seeking is very frowned upon in those environments and large companies are very "cut-and-dry" about everything. There's never a shortage of workers to replace you if you are deemed unworthy, what makes due diligence a requisite if you want to remain a player.

I assume Wu got some sort of reviewing task as opposed to some job like coding, localization or so, but the thing still applies. Article first, bragging later or, better, never.

For someone who brags constantly about knowing everything about the industry, that stroke me as specially uninformed and careless.

This. You had me at due diligence.

What I'm wondering is HOW Wu got this NDA review deal. Wu does not really have a lot on the resume to prove he knows shit, and his only produced work is a game that sold like ass and whose rerelease it's public knowledge he's late on. Unless Wu did the usual kissing of ass routine, I doubt this was obtained legit via credentials and qualifications.

John probably just got the game early because he annoyed the shit out of someone, so they gave him the game to shut him up.

Wu has been shilling for Tomb Raider online since 2013. Lara Croft, above any other character, is Brianna's perfect woman. She's sprerged about her for years, and her big claim to fame even before R60 published was because she wrote a response to a Giant Bomb piece that got a tiny bit of attention.

Every chance she gets, more than any series, she sites or references Tomb Raider as ultra important, and has bragged repeatedly about getting advanced comics or trailers or games. She's even publicly begged for advanced copies of the game and has done it so much she actually got one. I'm trying my absolute hardest not to tinfoil hat right now, but it seems to be that the reason Brianna picked Samus as her "trans" character is because she feels Lara Croft is the epitome of "female" and could never be anything else.

Holy shit, @Smutley was right!

its okay bb, smutley is always right :heart-full:

So...if somebody were to make a "Laura Croft is Trans" campaign, would that piss Bribri off?

Nothing says trustworthy like a Twitter addict with a drug problem.

So he violates the NDA, has made racist statements in the past, wasted a lot of money on a game that took 4 years to make and bombed on iOS, missed the deadline for game to be released on Steam even though not many people will buy it anyway, left his dog out to die in the snow as opposed to taking care of it, and wasting time on Twitter instead of doing actual work.

Now explain to me how can he even be representing women in gaming when it's been shown time and time again that he doesn't have what it takes to survive in the industry and cares more about attention than actually working to get somewhere.

Brianna Wu is a genuine role model for any aspiring women going in tech industry.

They can learn what not to do from his examples.
