Nah, sci-fi was always full of politics, corruption, and drama since day one. I think the difference is that in the old days, people were there because they genuinely liked sci-fi regardless of their personal hobbyhorses, and valued having a community of people to be able to discuss the genre with. There are people on this planet who think the Daniel Craig movies are not only good but even superior to older Bond movies??

The Craig movies aren't good; they in fact aren't even "Bond". There isn't a single second in them in which there is some TRUE and HONEST Bond atmosphere. The thing is, Bond used to be very tongue-in-cheek, campy and over the top - the Craig movies take themselves super seriously, there isn't a speck of humor or irony, everybody is constantly frowning and pissed-off looking... Déjà-vu: this sort of reminds me of something but I just can't pinpoint what it might be.

Well, this tells me that there are two possibilities:
Either Wu doesn't know anyone competent and willing enough to be a regular on a podcast with her, or everyone she asked already said 'No', so she has to resort to twitter for recruitment.
