I guess the flowers and candles weren't effective combatants.

Update 1:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40146916

BBC has it.

Conspiratarding about how it's a false flag to make Theresa May look strong and stable in 3, 2, 1...

Police are responding to reports that a van has hit a number of pedestrians on London Bridge in central London.

Witnesses have said that armed officers are understood to be at the scene after a white van mounted the pavement before driving into people.

The Metropolitan Police say they are dealing with an incident on the bridge.

Transport for London said the bridge has been closed in both directions due to a "major police incident". Bus routes were being diverted.

BBC reporter Holly Jones, who was on the bridge at the time of the incident, said the van was driven by a man and was "probably travelling at about 50 miles an hour".

About five people were being treated for injuries after the vehicle mounted the pavement and hit them, she said.

She said the van, which was travelling from the direction of central London, headed towards the south side of the river.

Ms Jones later reported seeing a man being arrested by police. She said he was handcuffed and had his shirt off.

London Ambulance Service tweeted: "Multiple resources attending an incident at #LondonBridge, please avoid the area".

Update 2:
So far the bridge has been closed to all traffic. Nearby buildings have been evacuated or locked. Those who live within the cordoned area are being advised to stay elsewhere if they can.
People on the streets were told by police to "run as fast as they can". Some people may have been thrown into the river.

Some people reported hearing gunshots, but aside from relaying that as second-hand the news outlets only confirm stabbings and the van running down pedestrians. Armed police are at the scene, as well as ambulances. King's Hospital A&E has declared a major incident. Armed officers are on Borough High Street, but no idea what the Borough Market "incident" is yet. London Bridge and Borough tube stations are closed, as are some other nearby stations.

Police are searching for three suspects.

Update 3: people are dead but no total body count yet, and here's a video of a suspect

Update 4: another suspect
And another suspect

Update 5: MASSIVE EXPLOSION JUST NOW (2100 EST)
A large explosion has just gone off on London Bridge.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-40147014

Update 6: At least six civilians dead, twenty thirty taken to the hospital. Turned out what was thought to be explosive vests weren't. Three males shot and killed by police.

Última edición por un moderador:
Even Islamic terrorists themselves have expressed shock at the sheer idiocy of Westerners being unable to get their motivation for what they're doing even when they scream it out loud while committing their terrorist attacks.

I already posted this in a different thread, but it deserves a repost. There's an article which explains that Middle Eastern Muslims are stupefied by the West's response to terrorism:
Yesterday, Dutch Middle-East correspondent Harald Doornbos posted a thread of comments on the Manchester terror attack, more specifically on how the Middle-East view Western policies on extremism, and on the fact that, as is almost always the case, the terrorist was a known figure to the authorities.

Doornbos wrote that:

“Here in Dubai, I speak with many Muslims after every terror attack that occurs in Western Europe. They are stupefied that every time, the terrorist seems to be a known person to the authorities. Muslims here cannot believe that these known figures are free to walk around, knowing they are walking time bombs. In Dubai, but also in Pakistan or other parts of the Muslim world, the authorities act much harder against these individuals. There are draconian punishments for individuals who are members of a terrorist organisation, while some of these organisations are even legal in the West. Muslims here are saying: “The West does not understand how dangerous extremism really is. And now they are constantly attacked, and we Muslims get the blame for it.”

Doornbos then continues:

“In Pakistan, I had a conversation with a Government Minister. He said the Pakistani army had captured and arrested a Dutch jihadi who was travelling to Al-Qaeda and could potentially execute a terror attack in the Netherlands. The minister said he expected a “thank you” from the Netherlands, for capturing a Dutch extremist. But the contrary happened. “The Dutch embassy scolded Pakistan for mistreating a Dutch citizen.” The Dutch wanted him back immediately because he didn’t get enough sleep and he was beaten. Eventually, the Pakistanis released the extremist and put him on a plane to the Netherlands. “you guys then deal with it yourselves”, the Minister said flabbergasted.”

Finally, he stated:

“Muslims who return from Syria, do not receive the benefit of the doubt anymore in the Muslim world, while the West sticks to the policy: if there is no evidence somebody did anything wrong, he can not be charged.”

Doornbos is living in the Middle East, now in Dubai. In 2000 he was part of the search party going after (back then) fugitive Karadžić’. In 2011 he reported the protests in Egypt and the revolt in Libia. He now reports from Syria, Turkey and Pakistan.

JEZ WANTS JIHADIS HOME

Jeremy Corbyn says he wants British terrorists to return to UK and attacks the Government for stripping ISIS jihadis of their passports in Arab TV interview

The Labour leader also said suspected extremists should not be stopped from leaving to fight

JEREMY Corbyn’s security credentials were again cast into serious doubt after it emerged he wants to allow British jihadis to come home.

Just months before he was elected Labour leader, the veteran Socialist lashed out at the ban on ISIS fighters from returning to the UK.

Jeremy Corbyn revealed he wants to let British jihadis return home in a revealing interview to Arab TV station LuaLua TV
The veteran Socialist and peace campaigner dubbed the national security move “strange” as well as “legally very questionable”.

The Sun can also reveal the 68-year-old said suspected extremists here should not be stopped from leaving the UK to fight holy war, and attacked the government for stripping jihadis of their passports.

Mr Corbyn’s alarming remarks were made to Arab TV station LuaLua TV just two years ago, a few months before he was made Labour leader.

The Labour leader hit out at the UK Government’s decision to ban ISIS fighters from returning to Britain

The veteran socialist dubbed the national security move ‘strange’ as well as ‘legally very questionable’
Their emergence – in a video seen by The Sun – cast fresh doubt on his ability to keep Britain safe after the Manchester and London Bridge attacks.

While insisting he is “not a supporter” of ISIS, Mr Corbyn told the interviewer in March 2015: “I do think that the way to deal with this issue isn’t by a legal process which seeks to ban people from travelling.

“The important thing is to deal with issue politically and challenge Islamophobia and racism.”

Then a hard left backbench MP, Mr Corbyn admitted there “is an issue about some people going from Britain, allegedly to fight with ISIS in Syria”.

He also said suspected extremists should not be stopped from leaving to fight
But attacking ministers, he went on: “The British government’s response has been to try to make it impossible for them to travel, to restrict their ability to travel, to take upon themselves the ability to remove passports and, strangely, to deny people the right of return – which is legally a very questionable decision.

“I suspect will be fought out in the courts in Britain.”

The revelation also casts into doubt the Labour chief’s new pledge on Sunday to listen to any request from security services for more powers.

Corbyn gave the interview just months before he won the Labour leadership election in 2015

Former independent reviewer of terrorism laws Lord Carlile said The Sun’s revelations show Mr Corbyn has “a terrible naivety on how the public should be protected”.

The respected peer said: “ISIS fighters must be kept out of this country because they pose a very direct danger to the public.

“Corbyn should be held to account by the electorate for this view, when any prospect he had of becoming Prime Minister should be immediately discounted.”

It also emerged that in a Commons debate in 2014, Mr Corbyn urged MPs not to judge British-born jihadis.

Jeremy Corbyn also said some suspected extremists here should not be stopped from leaving the UK to fight holy war

Jeremy Corbyn made the controversial comments in an interview on TV
Comparing them to the fight against apartheid in South Africa, he warned that anti-government fighters there were once dubbed terrorists but “were later welcomed to this country as freedom fighters”.

Along with his Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell and Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott, Mr Corbyn, also voted against ISIS fighters being stripped of their British citizenship.

Tory Security Minister Ben Wallace added: “Jeremy Corbyn cannot hide from his record of consistently opposing the powers the police and security services need to keep the United Kingdom safe.

“For thirty years Corbyn has put his support for Britain’s opponents ahead of national security, yet four days before polling day he cynically wants to fool voters into thinking he will keep Britain safe.”

Islamophobia is a much bigger issue than people leaving their comfortable lives to join ISIS, you guys.

I think the point that Corbyn is trying to make is "Islamophobia is what drives people to join ISIS," but it's bullshit. People who echo that sentiment are basically saying "If you're not nice to Muslims, they'll join one of the worst terrorist groups in human history and it'll be your fault!" I'm all for being kind to everyone and not discriminating them based on religion/ethnicity/gender/etc, but maybe you shouldn't categorize a certain group as ticking time bombs who must be appeased or else they'll become terrorists.

But Corbyn isn't a real guy, though, right? Any minute he's going to take off a mask and it's going to be John Cleese under there.

This is a shockingly moronic argument, even by the standards usually applied. Even if it were true that no anti-apartheid activists were, in fact, actually terrorists, which isn't true, it's like saying they laughed at Edison, they laughed at Einstein, therefore I'm a genius too because they also laugh at me!

These people are openly and avowed terrorists. How can anyone possibly say you should just let them travel abroad to train as terrorists, when many of them openly say they're doing exactly that, and then let them return with the self-avowed purpose of murdering your own citizens?

This is just baffling to me.

While we have some absolute batshit leftists in the US who will say dumb shit like this, the overwhelming majority of actual elected officials of either party generally agree on keeping actual terrorists out of the country, even while disagreeing about how to do it.

I just don't see how a message this weak and suicidal possibly doesn't lose huge.

Reminds me of the the actor Riz Ahmed who said that Muslims will join ISIS unless there are more POCs on TV and as James Bond.

Which I find pretty ironic considering he did a film called Four Lions which lampooned home grown terrorists.

Wait a minute, if we use this "lack of representation in media will make people go terrorist" argument then wouldn't that mean you'd be producing a fucking lot of white terrorists when you do raceswaps or phase out white characters outside of villainous roles? I think people hyped up that "issue" way too much that they don't even know how absurd it's gotten.

I just wish Europe would put their foot down. It isn't not giving Arabs/Muslims James Bond level roles or letting them go train in extremest groups that makes them go bad, but constantly looking the other way that is a bigger problem. It's like a kid that never gets punished and never has expectations put on them, they'll keep getting worse. Maybe if Europe expected them to fit in and held them to the same standards, maybe these things would be less likely to happen. Sorry for ranting.

I know that in the US we can refuse to allow people to travel from a nation to ours. (I.e. Cuba, until recently)

we could just as easily do this with Syria. allow only women/children coming from that nation to enter the US.

cannot the UK do that? a travel embargo?

This is a country whose entire political establishment (aside from Kippers) threw a shitfit when Trump tried to get that travel ban passed, despite the UK being damaged far more by immigration from the MENA region than the USA.

They aren't going to take any actions beyond political opportunism (as seen by the Tories wanting to ban linux instead of maybe breaking up some of the more radical mosques) until the populace of the country snaps and either starts rounding up Muslims on their own or rioting in the streets.
