i mostly drink whiskey/bourbon straight. i like smoke wagon, 1776, wild turkey 101, jefferson's reserve, and redbreast. for rum i like captain morgan and bacardi coconut. captain morgan used to make really good coconut rum but i don't think they make it anymore. there was a super cheap bottle of something like "kentucky mountains distillery presents coconut rum" on clearance for like $20 that i really wanted to try (as a joke of course). it's probably still there with all the other shitty flavors nobody buys so maybe i'll get my chance. i keep meaning to try aykroyd's meme vodka but i don't do vodka much unless it's just smirnoff to make a white russian. actually no smirnoff is too cheap, i like absolut yeah i mix it with kahlua and cream and that's all i drink the dude fucking abides deal with it.
i also like chivas but that gets really pricey really quick. there's a cheap scotch brand my local liquor guy told me about called john barr, it's like $20 a bottle but on par with johnny walker. i usually pick up two.

I'm a "front loader" myself. The first couple of drinks I order will be the good stuff, then I order whatever shitty party liquor or cheap beer they have at the bar.
Once the bus kicks in you don't give a fuck about the taste anymore.

something like that although that did bite me earlier this year when i got more wasted than i've ever been in my life and i don't want to go back to that
as long as it's high proof i'll take it

Oh yeah you definitely have to be careful if you're not used to that game plan lol. I might get one or two shots of Johnnie Walker or something to that effect, and after that settles and I got my good taste and everything and I'm starting to feel warm, then it's straight to the pitchers of cheap beer or well whiskey.
When the goal is just to get drunk I understand having the first couple of drinks for taste, but paying $20 dollars or more per shot to get drunk is just frivolous, in my opinion. And for me most of the time I don't even really get drunk, if I'm just going out to socialize I'll have three or four shots of southern comfort or Jack over the course of the evening.

the problem with this scenario was it was all free and paid for by family/friends
let me see what i can remember from that night (last month)
  1. fernet
  2. gin and tonic
  3. manhattan
  4. some merlot
  5. bottle of wine from when reagan was in office
  6. chivas
  7. highball
  8. another highball(?)
  9. rum and coke
i wanted to die and part of me still wishes i did die

Oh Jesus you played "drunken warlock" that's when you take a little bit of all the booze in your dad's liquor cabinet and mix it into one big concoction so he doesn't know you got into his stash lol.
Mixing half a dozen types of alcohol is a great idea if you're in high school because it's an easy way to get drunk, but when you do it as an adult you've signed your death notice.
I only mixed gin and vodka the other night and regretted it for 2 days.

Apple pie wine doesn't sound half bad. I may pick up a bottle of that.
It really was. Definitely on the sweet side. I was basically like "You mean cider, right?" But no, its definitely a blend of Apple and Moscato though it does not say so on the bottle. You don't get any Moscato flavor though. It was pure apple explosion. And as someone who really likes Apples and use them in cooking all the time, I was in heaven.

The last few concerts ive gone to I've just snuck in a weed vape and hit that (plus maybe an edible or pregame with wine beforehand) alongside like 1 or 2 beers bought at the venue. Saves a ton of money and I don't get a hangover

Exactly! A pint of beer at a Chiefs game is ten dollars. They're fucking nutters if they think I'm paying that much. I'll have one or two at the game but you better believe I got drunk in the car before I walked in.
Hell even the movie theaters all around the country have resorted to selling beer and wine at concession because so many people were sneaking in booze and they figured they could get a cut.

My homemade ciders (plain, peach+apricot and black+blueberry) and plain mead are very mid. They were only bottled a few weeks ago so maybe I will update in a year's time. I also made some banana wine and added cinnamon, vanilla and homemade pecan extract. It's quite young as well and tastes like mild banana jet fuel.

I'm thinking of starting batches of a "grenadine" (cherry and pomegranate) mead and a pear cider soon.

Going to try some cheap Pastis at some point in the next week because I saw it in some faggy French movie and the liquor store was out of aquavit. Will report back with a review of this niche anise shit no one in the US drinks.
Tried it last night, thots;

Smells like licorice. First sip, neat, licorice flavor mostly masks the 45% alcohol content, not overly sweet tasting, doesn't really burn.

Apparently it's typically mixed with cool/cold water or icewater, so I did that next. It takes on a milky color when water's added and you can barely taste the alcohol so it's mostly licorice at that point. It's the kind of thing you can get drunk on fast if you're not careful. Tried a bit more with plain sparkling water after, would not recommend as the carbonation overwhelms its flavor, stick with regular water.

overall verdict: not too bad, not my favorite thing by any stretch either, but considering how cheap this brand was and it being a 700ml 45% abv bottle, it's a decent value for something mildly unusual. If you like licorice I'd say it's better than jaeger because it doesn't feel quite as cough-syrupy. Might try a slightly less cheap one whenever I get through this bottle and happen to be in the mood for a licorice bomb.

I used to like Russian Standard, but now you can't buy it in the US. I hold Victoria Nuland responsible for this.

Branca or Menta?
Trader Joe's jad this Apple Wine on sale for 8.99 as part of their fall lineup.
That sounds alot like mulled apple wine. i mix that stuff myself for christman because the premixed stuff is way to sweet for me. also wtf is that price? spiced apple wine is below 2€ a bottle in germany,
i would just make it myself for that price, its super easy to make and you can get very fancy apple juice to make it.

price isnt a big factor, i drink the 9.99 bottle of lidl all summer long, mixed with alot of cold water and icecubes.
mixed right its a nice, light alternative to beer on a hot evening.

I'm really liking this Pabst Light. It isn't as shitty as most light beers, and it keeps my buzz from my liquor going. If you chill it just right, it tastes pretty good, which is literally the first time I've said that about a light beer. Usually light beer is piss water you drink just because you are done drinking real drinks for the night.

And don't get me wrong, it has nothing on a real beer or ale, but it might be the best light beer I've tasted.

Quince brandy is not for me. taste is okay but it makes my belly grumble.
