Tried it last night, thots; Smells like licorice. First sip, neat, licorice flavor mostly masks the 45% alcohol content, not overly sweet...

I drink it during the summer, it's really refreshing. You can use other anise-flavored liquors as a substitute if you can't find pastis itself.
