To add to this, (because I looked into it years ago when these claims were first being bandied about,) if you look into the details of those 28 murders you should find most of them were prostitutes or homeless or both.It's not like it doesn't happen, it's just much less likely to happen to trans people.
There are approximately 1.6 million trans people in the United States according to this estimate. This past year, GLAAD recorded 28 trans people murdered in the United States. Note that this was who was murdered, not why for. I know on a past list one was a trans man murdered by their trans woman partner in a murder suicide. Even if these were all trans hate crimes, this means that 0.00175% of the transgender population was actively murdered last year. This is better than the 0.075% of all homicide deaths the USA had on average in 2022. That is a .07325 less. You are a lot less likely to get murdered if you're transgender.
In other words, they were in situations that already carry a higher mortality rate than normal life, so it's less likely they were killed for being trans and more likely they died selling bussy for crack in the ghetto. Play stupid games...
