Probably a mix of troons, furries and Internet commies reporting people for the slightest disagreement (i.e. thinking that 4 year olds shouldn't be given HRT). After all, these are the same people who will claim that Reddit & Xitter are "hate sites".
The solution to this problem is to provide users the impetus to self-curate, rather than having the site admins curate for everyone. Maybe something like a button where you can block individual users? Sadly nothing like this has been invented yet.
they stopped being content with that because people started realizing blocking people then shit talking them was cowardly and lefty elites kept having to block people who would then start growing in popularity because they were blocked rather than being blocked being seen as this mark against you. they couldnt brand people as spergs when they blocked them anymore and it brought more people to shit talk them. they realized they needed complete control of the narrative and the site before they could get the hugbox they truly wanted.

tumblr had some different things though, it had fanfic and fandom stuff, and pornography. it was left wing but it was more organically so focusing on alot of interests that happened to attract that crowd. theres just something about gabs and blueskys that are insufferable to most people. theres nothing for you if youre not on the political side the sites were built for from the ground up and even if you are on their side theres just nothing besides political stuff and its just too closed off.
To add to this, a lot of lefty users are pissed that the block function on Twitter no longer prevents others from viewing your tweets.
That's a good point. Twitter used to be somewhat normal until tumblr banned porn causing all of them to migrate to twitter. After that it became shit
It helped keep people from following people to make tweets and posts about their tweets as easily. its actually insane how hard they relied on censorship post trump and just how unprepared the 00s left them to any sort of criticism or hostility. tons of tiny things people usually dont even think about all to control the narrative and purge users not totally in line. they even came up with shadowbanning and throttling just for that bit of extra control.
probably nothing because theyre not even as creative as tumblr users were then. i imagine that as threads was the corpo only app that bluesky will be the sort of business casual meetup tier app. where youre not technically interacting in a professional capacity but basically are at a prolonged friendly work event. tumblr wasnt meant to be or built to be a crazy left wing place it just devolved into that naturally against the founder's wishes because the interests promoted attracted them.
In a way this is true, but Tumblr was kind of a perfect storm.
This is my sincere hope. There's also a different group of people. Tumblr was mentally ill highschoolers and college losers who had to find some home and bounced weird anime ideas off each other. Bluesky is going to have your classical retards on it.
