How is it not a ball jointed doll? Are you kidding me?No its not.
Looks like a licca (asian barbie)
It clearly has joints and features that would make it a literal "ball jointed doll".

I think it's because she's not strung and isn't resin. How is it not a ball jointed doll? Are you kidding me?

Ball jointed doll is generally applied to dolls that are strung with elastic. Most groups will accept Dollfie Dreams/Smart Dolls, even though they have internal skeletons, due to grandfathering. On the other hand, nobody accepts things like Figma figures, or Nendoroid, Blythe, or Monster High dolls as bjd, even though one can argue that the have a ball joint of a type. How is it not a ball jointed doll? Figmas, Nendoroids, and Blythe make sense for not being considered BJD considering the stylizations the three have. Monster High though, seriously??? The M.H. dolls are probably one of the biggest doll-types that most would look at and consider a true BJD. I'd even argue that if it wasn't for the M.H. dolls, BJDs as a hobby wouldn't have become somewhat "mainstream". Sounds like BJD requirements are just a way for sad women/men to keep tight reigns on their hobby, which is just dumb, and makes BJD-fags on the same level as "burando" Lolita fags.Ball jointed doll is generally applied to dolls that are strung with elastic. DoA is known for being more neurotic than most, as they insist on a certain number of joints (not having wrist joints for example can make a doll "disqualified" there), as well as other requirements.

Nigga they're fucking dolls. This post in general makes my burando point.Nice b8, m8
Not even going to play along lol
edit: To any randies who don't know, there has been an increase in $10-20 sd scale plastic dolls off aliexpress that come nude or with an outfit. They are called, Dream Fairy. Its been loosely proven that they are bootlegs of resin bjds, (angel studio) so they are pretty taboo in a way.
Naturally, the folks too broke to afford a bootleg get these vinyl barbies and are trying to champion them as 'bjd's because they have sphere and ratchet joints that are similar to the most basic of bjds. The same way a made to move barbie/ gijoe has a torso joint, as does a bjd (its a massive fkn reach).
The dollfie and obitsu crowd usually chuck these folks out but the recast bjd scene is more tolerant, because of course they are.
So there is a bit of a to do, that these are totally bjds and totally valid and also special, despite being less articulated then a dollar store kelly doll
Should do some more research then.Nigga they're fucking dolls. This post in general makes my burando point.![]()
Yep. A number of people get blank dolls and do the face ups/body blushing themselves. Plus different wigs, eyes, clothes can make even a company face up look different. Some people do photography with them, some create scale dioramas for them (a big undertaking if it's for 1/3rd size), some sew the outfits themselves, some look at them more as art pieces they display, and then there's the weirdos who consider them their family and have long rambling stories behind each one. I met one of those once, it was creepy and unsettling. After you get the dolls... what do you do? Is it like gunpla where you can paint and customize it? I can get the aspect of getting it because it is cute, but do the owners customize or even play with it?
This looks like a really strange hobby and as a dude I just can't understand the appeal without the customization part.
tell me more, sounds really funnyand then there's the weirdos who consider them their family and have long rambling stories behind each one. I met one of those once, it was creepy and unsettling.
They started telling me how all their dolls had families and she had three or four different dolls for each "character" at different ages, and this one was wed to this one, and they had such and so many children which she had (again) multiple sculpts for different ages of the children and the children were married with children of their own, and this was waaaaayyyy more obsessive that I ever was even back when I was creating stories with dinosaurs, horses, and Barbies when I was seven.tell me more, sounds really funny
damn, I can imagine playing with toys as a kid, and making up stories, but this is really something else, even more as an adult. But the dolls that were related, did she went full autismo and even made parts similar to the parents of each doll or she just told you the stories but you never saw it in person? They started telling me how all their dolls had families and she had three or four different dolls for each "character" at different ages, and this one was wed to this one, and they had such and so many children which she had (again) multiple sculpts for different ages of the children and the children were married with children of their own, and this was waaaaayyyy more obsessive that I ever was even back when I was creating stories with dinosaurs, horses, and Barbies when I was seven.
I also remember her bragging that she was healthy because she ate Subway back home in West Virginia, compared to the other fast food her neighbors ate. It was like listening to a crazy cat lady talking about the tea parties she had with her 18 cats.
Met at a convention, not a doll specific one (honestly meeting her has scared me off of meetups, because dear god, imagine if there's more like her) and most people brought one doll to show off. She had like 5. A couple were the "same" person at different ages.damn, I can imagine playing with toys as a kid, and making up stories, but this is really something else, even more as an adult. Where did you met this gem of a person? Hobby related or unrelated to it? I only had one encounter with something similar to it and it was just a grandma showing me the photo of her grandson in the bus when I was leaving for home. It was weird but not this weird.
it is always the craziest ones with most money to spare on it.Met at a convention, not a doll specific one (honestly meeting her has scared me off of meetups, because dear god, imagine if there's more like her) and most people brought one doll to show off. Fancy mentioning gunpla, but yeah, pretty much. After you get the dolls... what do you do? Is it like gunpla where you can paint and customize it? I can get the aspect of getting it because it is cute, but do the owners customize or even play with it?

I encountered a Dollfie once in person. One of the Miku ones. Very impressive.Fancy mentioning gunpla, but yeah, pretty much.
More like resin figs and statues, but about the same, they can be painted, dyed, carved or modded as you please. Some collect, some have em for display, some are happy with a handful for mods or shelling them as characters or media .
Check out dollfie dream , most of those are licenced dolls of sailor moon, hatsune miku, fate go characters, vtubers ect.
I personally have a handful for creative reasons. Its nice to sculpt accessories like hands and heads, recreational, pretty much..
But aside from that yeah, there's alotta freaks too. If you want some of the worst to offer, check out bjd confessions blogs.
Is currently active. Some stuff may be confusing context wise. Or scan this thread. Nothing really goes on, mostly women bitching
Bad Doll transactions on fb is decent. The feedback for "into the deep dolls" on etsy.
Den of angels
Dollfie dreaming forum ect
I’d argue that inset eyes are a pretty defining quality, too. It's not the stylization, it's the properties that decide it.Ver archivo adjunto 2540033Ver archivo adjunto 2540036
Both of these are "bjds" due to being strung. Hell, both are from the same company, and are the same size (ish, size is one of those things that can be hilariously off depending on company/type).
Monster High I think is considered a Fashion Doll along with Barbie, Bratz, etc. Edit: Another big separation between bjd and fashion doll is rooted hair. Fashion dolls almost always have rooted hair, while bjds have wigs.
