Baldur's Gate III Announced - ...and it's coming to Google Stadia and PC

Which is ironic, because light damage was essential for beating the other house. I was insanely lucky and had stocked up on Sunbeam spell scrolls a while back because I liked having a big beam attack that did good damage. That and having that legendary sword from saving that kid in Act 3 is probably the only reason I managed to win. No joke, I had 9 HP and all my other characters were at 1 HP at the end of it.
Raphael got stunlocked by being dancing queen and absolutely obliterated by big bonking barbarian/warrior and sneak attacks. As for drow, Madame - I used icicles to turn floor into ice skating surface and she fallen almost every time. And bombs with boom arrows did the trick for fucking adds swarm

And bombs with boom arrows
I keep forgetting I have those.

Though to be fair, I’m also carrying like a hundred spell scrolls and just a ton of arrows. I could probably beat the final bosses without ever swinging my weapon again at this point, I’ve hoarded so much…

House of what? I just use my portant to force hold monster to work every time.

So is this Mirror of Loss thing a one time “temp debuff to gain permanent buff” thing? I was looking up stuff about it once I saw what it did and wanted to be sure.

Also apparently it has a chance of giving you an extra +1 stat from a memory?

There’s just so much stuff going on in the Lower Cities, I’m getting weird moments of panic.
The good thing about the final area is it doesn't start new long term threads, so the quests are more self contained.
Holy shit, that House of Grief fight was the toughest
I thought my devilsight bladelock was clever fighting in darkness, until I found out they were immune to my tricks

It's +2 to any stat. You get a -2 debuff to another stat, but Remove Curse gets rid of it. If this sounds incredibly broken, it is.

Alternatively, you can also trade the forbidden knowledge you got from the necromancy book for the stats. The game doesn't actually remove it, however, which would mean its bugged but at least its a bug that's in your favor.

A conjure water plus call lightning did the trick for me. Vaporized half the room.

The good thing about the final area is it doesn't start new long term threads, so the quests are more self contained.

This is why I said Act III, where you actually go to Baldur's Gate, should have been Act II. Act II feels like the finale, whereas Act III you feel like you're under the gun, afraid that you might accidentally do something that irreparably affects the endgame.

Okay, I've got several questions about Act 3 now that I've reached the point where Orin kidnaps one of your party members (or the little girl at camp). For me it was Halsin. Does the time limit apply only if you refuse her deal, or is it there regardless? How fast do you have to be? I'd prefer to kill her before Gortash because I actually kinda like that smarmy bastard, but will that negatively effect anything? Also, if you do agree to her deal, can you still go kill her first and save the hostage? I keep hearing different things about this and just want to make sure I don't fuck anything up. It's pretty annoying too since it sounds like Orin can appear at any time when you're trying to explore the city or do side quests. First it was when I was in the cellar after going through the Emperor's old hideout, then when I loaded a previous save and took a long rest. Unless there is a specific trigger for this, but again, I'm hearing mixed things, so any clarification would be appreciated.

There's no strict time limit as far as I'm aware. This is yet another Act III faux paus--the devs ought to have encouraged the player to explore the city and have fun, but you're constantly put in these situations that seem to compel swift and immediate action.

Hell, if really wanted to, you could completely waive Gortash's coronation for as long as you please or make a B-line for Orin as soon as Act III commences. Sceleritous Fel actually gives you free access to Bhaal's temple if you're Durge.

In addition you should be able to save Halsin with a Charisma option before Orin goes through with it. For my Durge playthrough, I was given some standard checks to dissuade Orin from stabbing Yenna.

Speaking of act 3 spoilers….

I found a secret hatch in a secret room that I found the key for in a bunch more secret rooms of the attic of a certain palace, that lead to a secret puzzle with pressure plates…but apparently it’s a bugged quest or something? Was it ever fixed? All I can find are people talking about it when the game first came out.

The dude at Larian who animated the frog lady sucking my paladin's dick died apparently.

That is his legacy now. His children (if he has any) will have cringe stories to tell at parties.

I looked it up because it's something I never encountered in my playthroughs. I'm assuming it is the attic in Cazador's mansion. Any idea what the rewards are for completing the puzzle?

It’s tied to the attic, but it’s not the attic itself. The entrance is opposite to where you go into the attic, but you have to hit that button by the ladder up to the attic to get into it. Involves a lot of allotting off party and exploring separately a bit. Haven’t figured out if the puzzle has been fully in bugged or not though. Something in there seems like I can do it properly.

Between that, the stuff in the attic, and the “Endless Cruelty” scroll I found in the regular dungeon plus the sword, there’s a lot of interesting secrets going on in here.

Also, I was wondering what was going to make Astarion feel conflicted about doing the ritual himself. God damn..

Some of the stuff you find in Lorroakan's tower makes me want to replay the game as a Wizard. I'm pretty sure you can learn all the rare scrolls you find in there.

That robe and staff you find at the very bottom of the tower is some nice looking gear. Especially when you get the hood later

Travelling with this group of assholes is like going to the park with a bunch of little kids.
My precious Tavitha will be walking along the path like a civilized person and I'll look over and the other three are walking along the tops of boulders, tripping through the bushes, stuck trying to get around crates...
Get your shit together! People are counting on us to say we're going to do all these quests! At least look professional until we fuck it up or forget it entirely!
Jeez.

Isn’t that the typical D&D experience?

Hell, I’ve made it worse for myself and always have Minsc summon Boo while we’re walking around.
