Baldur's Gate III Announced - ...and it's coming to Google Stadia and PC

I wasn't going to romance anyone, I was just going to play the game.
I was adamant about this.
Everything was fine. We were out murderin' goblins and saving the trees and whatever shit. No romance!
But then.
There was a celebration. There was wine.
Gaddammit.

I was talking to a friend of mine and we're still both confused as to why they just don't let you make a full custom party. Thinking on it further I think that would be a cool origin. Make an entire party and hardly bother with companions. I'm sure there's special story notes one could write that would have something to do with you being four people instead of one, don't ask me how to make that interesting though. Maybe a particular role for each person you make?

Point is, I feel like a game like that should allow me to make adventuring parties from actual games I've played without having to do some weird multiplayer workaround. Is what it is though.

So I finally got Minsc as a party member. Does anyone have any recommendations for his build? I’ve seen that Gloom Stalker is apparently the best one to use to make him similar to the old games, but I’m already the sneaky stab guy for the group, so I was kinda leaning towards something else for him.

They're weird with his stats. I retrained him into a ranger/berserker/thief. Got him the extra bonus action, got the extra throw/attack from berserker, kept ranger because I'm a stickler for tradition. He ended up being really fun.

Oh hey, it’s that weird locked chest those thieves were needing to deliver to Balder’s Gate. I just got it off their dead bodies after the Guild fight.

Should I unlock it or should I see if I can find who it belongs to?

My statue is asserting dominance.

I haven't been able to play because I've been so busy in real life. Looks like that's a good thing given how many positive changes Larian still keeps making. Unfortunately I don't have anyone to play with multiplayer but at least then I can play at my own pace.

No, you pretty much reached the end of that questline if you delivered it. And if you're at or near max level, then the Spectator is fodder for your party anyway--you don't get anything out of killing it other than exp. It's really only worthwhile throwing the bottle into a pack of mobs in Act I, to be frank--like the Githyanki at the gate or the Duergar at the Grymforge.

Minsc was one of a few party members from the old games who combined traits from other classes that were mixed into his main class. He had a unique enrage ability aside from being a Ranger. It's a wonder they didn't just straight-up make him a Barbarian, but I think that was because they were trying to respect his Rashemi background and give him a proper excuse to carry Boo around all the time.

With regard to that, I really hate the fact that there are zero race/class restrictions. Like it's odd that Githyanki can become Clerics since Githyanki don't worship deities. Githyanki Clerics can choose Vlaakith as their diety, but that's stupid because Vlaakith is not an actual deity. It's also odd that you encounter Goblin clerics as well since the Absolute isn't an actual deity and most of the Goblins had forsaken Maglubiyet.

It used to be that Paladins were exclusive to Humans, but that was back when Gary believed that Humans ought to be the default race to play as anyway.

Does anyone remember Mazzy Fentan from Baldur's Gate 2? She was a halfling Fighter with aspirations to become a Paladin. Kind of like Minsc had some unique Berserker abilities alongside his Ranger kit, Mazzy could Lay On Hands or Invoke Courage even as a Fighter. She could never be a real Paladin, though, due the race/class restrictions of 2e. It was my understanding that those race/class restrictions were wholly due the cultural backgrounds of the races respective of what classes would be open to them.

Holy shit, that House of Grief fight was the toughest/most annoying battle I’ve had in the game so far. All the Darkness and Bone Chill spamming was driving me crazy. Thank god I went in with a few summons already on the team when I started the cutscene before the fight.

If you chain stun him he cant go super devil.

For that particular house you should avoid using light damage. Instead use necrotic and physical
Which is ironic, because light damage was essential for beating the other house. I was insanely lucky and had stocked up on Sunbeam spell scrolls a while back because I liked having a big beam attack that did good damage. That and having that legendary sword from saving that kid in Act 3 is probably the only reason I managed to win. No joke, I had 9 HP and all my other characters were at 1 HP at the end of it.
