Baldur's Gate III Announced - ...and it's coming to Google Stadia and PC

I still have no idea what the intended method was. Even when I tried doing it right I'd die at random. In the end I just flew over it.
The path you’re supposed to take is mapped out on the floor in front of the first Shar statue when you enter the room. Even then, I think the only one who can actually see it at all is Shadowheart, and you have to tilt your camera at a certain angle to make it out. I heard Fly worked (which is surprising, since no other cheese method does AFAIK) but sadly didn’t have the spell or a scroll for it on me.

The fact that they punish you with instant death is retarded. The amount of times I came close only to get teleported away or killed was maddening. Hell, even when I ended up finally making it with Shadowheart, my other party members had all died beforehand. Did you know that if they die on one of the platforms or fall to their death, you may not even be able to reach their body to revive them? Lunacy. Fuck this excuse for a puzzle.

I watched some gameplay on Neil Newbon's channel. It's fun and would certainly make others feel better about they way they play it. lol

edit -
Is Cazador played by Liz Fong-Jones? I'm definitely getting LFJ vibes there.
As far as I know only one character is voiced by a tranny.

Astarion actually being surprised and shocked you respected his wishes about biting the blood lady was actually pretty sweet.
Yes, in order to heal his trauma and break the cycle of abuse, you throw away a lot of ingame power. Good shouldn't be the powergaming path.
Christ almighty, whoever came up with the Faith-Leap Trial can choke on a big floppy dick. That was agony.
Really easy for Warlocks with Devil Sight, as they can see the path. Just send Wyll to do it for you.

Fuck that faggot feelings shit I need that potion for my Barbarian/Fighter multi class. I'm min maxing this shit. The gay vampire needs to man up and suck some diseased blood.

Man, I’m going to have to grind out some long rests again because I ended up doing the same thing I did in Act 1 and pushed through a ton of content without resting.

I did actually have a good reason this time because I was trying to hold onto the three Shar bonus, but I apparently have a fucked up shoulder now from the bit in Moonrise Tower’s “meat in the walls” and I really need to try and advance some romance stuff.

Game has eaten up about a month or two of my time. Very interesting from a standpoint of experimenting with the extent of what choices do or do not matter.

A "Good" playthrough might be worthwhile except most of the people you save are literally faggots. The aasimar female is lesbo'd with the bitch Selune Cleric at Last Light Chapel. Fuck'em both, just give into the Urge and kill the Cleric. The reward you get is just icing on the cake.

Nightsong was completely insufferable too. Gladly had Shadowheart stab her too. Shar has never looked more attractive.

Incidentally a grand total of FOUR gnomes you save in the Underdark are gay. Gladly let Nere choke their lives out before I ended him.

Alfira, the Tiefling Bard you kill as the Urge is also gay. Hell, pretty much 90% of all the "Good" characters are gay. So just let the Urge do its thing.

Minthara is awesome. She questions you about the refugees you killed at the Grove and getting her approval just has you saying you just did it to impress her. People online are saying its a shame you sacrifice so much to save and romance Minthara, but I beg to differ. Most of the people you save were dead-end fags who just want to shag each other anyway. They're better off dead.

Karlach is overrated. Fuck her too. I gave her head to Zariel's false Paladins. I'd have done that despite the fact that they were lying to me about their intentions.

Wyll left me after I slaughtered the Grove. Good riddance, hypocrite. Your father's "wisdom" is boring too.

Gale died in the portal. Not letting that filthy Jew walk around with a bomb in his chest like it's no big deal. Plus I want my magic items. Not to mention he fucked the goddess of magic like that's normal. No wonder Wizards and Sorcs feels so lame. Fighters and Rogues all the way, bro.

I Intimidatechecked Astarion to eat the a Netherese tadpoles before eventually having him ascend. The faggot was far too feminine for me so manning up seemed like the best medicine for him.

I used Command: Drop on Kith'rak Voss in Act I and then gave his fucking Silver Sword to Lae'zel. I cannot believe the guy would carry around a fucking Silver Sword of the Astral Planes and not Bind Weapon on it. Then I threatened to kill Lae'zel if she didn't march on Moonrise with me. She complied, of course. I also forced her to doodle on Vlakkith's portrait. Slaughtered the Gith Creche too and didn't even kneel before the Bitch Queen.

Oh, and I refused the tadpoles. I let Astarion have at'em. I was fine with my Slayer stuff. The Darkr Urge > mindflayer tadpoles.

In these last two months I can say that 5e classes need a HUGE amount of tuning that I doubt they will ever receive.

Light Clerics are OP. Spirit Guardians spell is OP. Thief Rogues are OP. Max level Fighters with 3+ bonus attacks are OP.

Wizards, Sorcs, Warlocks, etc--pretty much all classes who end turns without extra bonus attacks suck ass. Give me back Contingency, Wish, Time Stop, and Simulacrum. Feakin' Spell Sequencer! Hell, let my fucking Necromancer subclass become a lich already.

Act 2 feels like the game's climax. Act 3 feels like it should have been Act 2.

Raphael is an impotent faggot and added nothing to the game. He is also completely overrated by people online. I told him to fuck off and killed him first during the boss battle.

I threw Gortash's bombs back at him and won.

Orin appeared multiple times and Shadowheart was like, "Who do we trust?!" You can trust Larian won't even make such an interesting dynamic matter, my dear.

Never before was I ever more happy to do an "Evil" playthrough of a game than BG3. Now I get to remake the world after usurping The Absolute. The only problem is that I fundamentally know I could have picked a female character and the game would never acknowledge it because clown world assumes there's no difference. I guess personal preference is a myth as far as romance is concerned

Oh, and I also discovered that Shadowheart inspired some Tiefling boy to become trans. Really made me do a 180 on her as a romance option. She is far from the "Normie" choice.

I got a huge Star Wars sequels vibe when Jaheira was introduced. Like the game did the while cinematic camera pan up thing and she had some stupid line. Obnoxious AF. And Viconia doing the, "say my name" bit even more so. These aren't the same characters, WotC. You're not fooling me. Fuck off. Oh, and Karlach geeks out over them. She doesn't know who the fuck Elminster is, but she does the whole wide-eyed Rey thing by going Memberberries over Jaheira and Minsc.

Karlach exists solely as meta reference material for kids who think fourth wall breaks are somehow clever writing despite the fact that fourth wall breaks are commonplace.

Seriously, Karlach can fuck right off. Can't even use her Tiefling abilities while enraged too. What idiot decided THAT race/class combo was a good idea?

Hey for anyone that played the actual origin characters what's the difference btw? Whenever EE and Act 4 comes out I was thinking of making a Bladesingerstarion monk/thief

Karlach is a MCU character. She's wholesome and a big reddit chungus.

MCU, yes, or Rey from the Star Wars sequel trilogy. She goes geeky fangirl over Jahiera and Minsc, much like Rey does over Luke and Han. I fucking hate it. Characters are not endearing because they geek out over characters from other things that we know about. Writers need to fucking stop doing this. People are not defined by their ability to channel memberberries.

But I agree with you, if I understand what you're saying. Karlach is complete;y inorganic and, much like Halsin, is there purely as a meme character. She fucking says, "Honk, honk!" when you click on her. This happens in a fantasy world where cars don't exist. And they gave this meme a personal quest and expected me to care. Hell, what's even more infuriating is that every other companion is written as liking her too. I'd venture at least Lae'zel would have considered her obnoxious given her style of combat is antithetical to the rigidity of Githyanki warriors. But, no, Lae'zel "approves" of this godawful mistake of a character too.

Yeah that annoyed me so much too.
She was acting like Deadpool.

She really has that PC of the quirky reddit girl at the table energy.

One of her worst moment is in the dyad encounter.

When asked what is a perfect day for her , the answer is kicking a lot of bad guys butt and a lot of victory sex. (actually that sounds like something not even Minsc would say)

I've seen this one on YouTube as well. The game actually has the audacity to use the word "baddies" like you're some kind of dogoody superhero squad or something. Except, hasn't Karlach been the "baddie" on multiple occasions as well? Not everyone in the game is going to reach the dryad and have remained completely and utterly Lawful Good.

What ultimately did it for me was during the Raphael encounter at Last Light. The demon casually informs you that Mol is making deals with him and Karlach's responds with, "Please, let me slap him."

Really, Karlach? One of your fellow tieflings (a child, even) is about to to forsake her immortal soul and completely ruin her life and all you can muster in response is a Scrappy Doo esque "Lemmee at'em!"

What a fucking joke! Didn't she fly off the handle when it came to the false paladins in Act I? Where did that Karlach go? Also, she wants to slap him? You have a fucking weapon, girl. Use it!

To be fair, issuing empty threats is something Lae'zel does too: many of her responses involve saying she will cut off your digits or stab you or whatever. But Lae'zel gets a pass because she is supposed to be a young, pretentious tsundere Gith anyway. I buy less than half of the stories she tells me and take zero of her threats seriously. Hell, the game never actually tells you this, but what's implied is the very reason she's following the PC in the first place is because she has no confidence in herself. I suppose that changes if you choose her as your PC for an Origin playthrough, but that opens up an entirely difference issue. Point is, Lae'zel has some layers and Karlach doesn't.

I’ve been using Karlach in the party and haven’t been getting any of the “Reddit fourth wall break honk honk” stuff. She’s excitable, but I just tie that into finally being free of Hell after being stuck fighting there for years.

As of my playthrough, I’m back at Last Light Inn after freeing the Moonrise prisoners, and god damn Wilber’s turned out to be a prick. But we are talking about the guy behind the runepowder, so I guess it’s not that surprising.

Okay, this is another problem with the writing. Here's the thing: you didn't figure this out yourself. Not you personally, mind you, but players in general are not necessarily allowed to come to those conclusions themselves. The writing is terrible because they're constantly trying to push you into that specific perspective. So you remarking on it here is the game doing your own thinking for you.

I've played the game enough to realize a combination of characters dialogue and narration constantly spell things out for you. Online, you often see people talking about this game as if they cracked thr code on some character's evolution. But they're reallt just going by what the game literally told them. Might as well just read Wikipedia at that point.

I particularly hate many Insight or Wisdom checks for this reason because there are times the narrator just outright tells you what's motivating the actions of whatever characters. Complex characters are the kinds that exhibit behaviors that warrant your own knowledge and experience to extrapolate why they are the way they are. This is why Karlach is badly written but Lae'zel is....better written...

As I said above, Lae'zel has some complexity in that she's extremely pretentious. An example of this is how she talks about purification. If the PC is not Githyanki, she says, "By covenant, I can say no more." However, if the PC is Githyanki, she admits, "By covenant, I know little else." The fact is that Lae'zel is far from as intelligent as she likes to promote herself as being. Hell, she pretty much says it like it is during one of the initial interactions. You ask why she's so prickly and she all but tells you it's an act she puts on to look tough. In hindsight, it's a shame the writers added that part of the dialogue because it basically ruins any depth that quirk might have.

Karlach's issue is that everyone likes her from the start and that never changes.

Karlach is not bound by honor or duty, which would seem to make for huge conflict with Lae'zel. Karlach also holds nothing back, no secrets, which would probably irk a Cleric of Shar. But the writers never let her runaway optimism pose the kinds of problems that attitude might in cases where things need to be more serious. Her excitability could have been written as being a mask for how sad and depressed she actually is but, no, the writers don't even resort to that. Karlach is and remains a one dimensional character through and through. If you kill Gortash, she seems pensive for a moment, she goes for a walk, and then comes back and tells you she's okay. Just like that. It's just sooo fucking boring.

But here's the kicker: this is all purposeful. The writers wrote her badly on purpose. She wears who she is on her sleeve and the game expects you to just go with it like there's something enlightening about it (especially given how your other companions remark on it).

Karlach has no depth because that's intentional. No effort required on the part of the writers to make sense of the why. Just set things as is and tell the player, "She's like this because of X. End of story."

Your companions continually affirm this through dialogue and even Karlach herself pushes that narrative. She even seems to use it as justification for going all million dollar baby on you when she says she wants to die rather than go back to Avernus. She is wholly a meme character and experiences no growth, no evolution, nothing.

I think that’s your own personal interpretation, because to me, Karlach is obviously either terrified or incredibly depressed about having to be in Hell for so long and having to go back because of her infernal engine heart and is purposely avoiding/self-denying about anything negative that’s going to happen, along with being insanely touch-starved due to the heat thing. She’s a “living in the moment because both the past and future is too damn depressing for her to deal with” character. I don’t think of her as “static”, I see her as a weirdly chipper character that you find out exactly WHY she puts on that chipper attitude.

You don’t have to like how she is, obviously, but I think saying she has nothing to her character and the game is “tricking” you into thinking she does is kinda unfair.
