I own this game but I'm reluctant to install it since I've seen some people saying that there are still a lot of bugs

Judging by DoS2, the game will be significantly more complete in a year or so.
But it is more than worth playing now, I'm half way through act III and only had one bug where Wyll had an explanation mark without a dialogue, but they've already fixed it last patch.

They're not that different from the old Baldur's Gate or Forgotten Realms novel characters but they are more sexualized for sure

Yes, the list of rootable monsters are scarily high. You can fuck Mizora while Wyll telepathically watches in horror, the bear and Squidboy(he wants to convince you to become an itthalid hybrid,). Surprisingly, Astarion is the least willing to be sexual, as he has a lot of guilt over his insincere seductions while enslaved. The three/foursome with the Drow twins is mostly text/sound only.

So I had the bright idea of downloading a scheduled patch of BG3 a day or so early today. DX11 saves absolutely borked, freezing and crashing within minutes and even using Vulkan my game shits the bed within 20 minutes. The game will freeze and after a minute or two movement commands will halfway work but with frozen character models and no inputs are recognized. I was in early Act II and had bypassed a few areas prior so it could just be a random thing. I think I will wait a bit and see how the updates/mods/dlc(?) turnout. I lose interest quick after the 3rd or 4th mid/late campaign bug wipes my game out.

I would advice to wait until Patch 2 comes out, most likely next week, and see how it goes. This patch is supposed to bring a lot of performance improvements.

I think Larian did alright with what they were given, but WotC has made every effort to make DnD accessable to genderspecials and they killed off all their settings other than Forgotten Realms so all of their word of god pozing has effected it the most. Teiflings used to be rare and generally evil, now they are common and sassy. How fucking miserable drow/duergar make each other is eluded to but not really stated and not-every-drow is the rule instead of the infinitesimally rare exception. So on so forth

The romances weren't that bad. I saw people freak out at all the men hitting on you as a male character, but I took a lot of delight in telling them to go fuck themselves and bullying them the rest of the playthrough/backstabbing them when convenient. I didn't like any character except for Lae'zel for being a racist tsundere frog girl, so it was easy to play as an immoral bastard with no remorse which was a lot of fun. Playing as a good guy would probably be insufferable though with how needy and snooty your faggot companions act sometimes.

Is it just me, or are Githyanki not fun, interesting, or Fantasy-themed enough to make them a major part of a game plotline? When that infographic came out that said it was the least-played race it must have been a punch to the gut to whoever made that story decision. They're very D&D in the least-appealing D&D way: they stray too far from traditional Fantasy tropes that players who choose these games are actively looking for when they choose a game like this. They've ceded the dwarves and elves ground to Lord of the Rings when the Forgotten Realms have enough of its own history for them that it's its own thing. Same with Paladins getting so much hate but being the most-played class, people need to feel like they can vanquish Evil. The weird D&D stuff was cool when it was weird - Drow weren't everywhere, Tieflings like someone else said - place them very rarely in with the high magic fantasy stuff and it still works.

Githyanki vs. Mind Flayer is the Norm joke about how everybody in this story should die in a fire. I feel worse for the Evil race that was enslaved, but then they would just kill me if they saw me, so just slightly worse than the race of Evil slavers. Any Forgotten Realms thing that doesn't lean hard into the Red Wizards of Thay as the big bad is wasting great material.

I don't think I've seen anyone bring up Temple of Elemental Evil when talking about similar turn-based AD&D games, that was a fun 3e combat simulator that had what sounds like BG3 has, an obviously rushed ending with empty endgame areas vs. densely populated early areas. Gold Box was the best combat system but it got silly in the later games when you're such a high level that every fight is just a gunslinger duel where whoever wins initiative gets spells off first and wins immediately.

Possibly, the patch I downloaded was scheduled for the day after I originally installed it. I'm running a 3700X/3080FTW3 machine at the moment and have been looking for a reason to build new. I'll probably go with a 13900k and 4080 this fall. The one thing I did not try is running the game without Afterburner and Rivatuner running. Afterburner has caused issues in the past like this. Come to think of it launching the game in DX11 crashes as soon as the last save is fully loaded. Vulkan will run for 15-20 minutes before crashing so it probably is Afterburner.

There wouldn't be these complaints if you could choose your sexual orientation in these kinda games. You can choose to have a dick or pussy and to be a "they" but you can't have your character be a straight guy or a lesbian.

I actually think the Githyanki are pretty cool as a concept, but it's obvious no one wants to play as one because they are pretty hideous and also assholes, and if you want to be an asshole why not be a pretty one like the drow are?

As for the elves, FR has some cool elf lore that they talk about in books but they have made them about as generic as possible in most FR media since the early 2000s with them retconing or erasing most of everything that makes them unique in the setting. People complain about drow everywhere but one of the reasons is that they made the elves very one dimensional and in fantasy people are always going to want to place a hot, long lived, pointy eared race, so why not the edgy dark elves with the cool lore? Not that they also haven't tried to retcon and erase drow lore also...

I finally finished the game and it was much better than I expected it to be. The hype definitely was overblown. Other developers must be retards, because this game didn't do anything new or that groundbreaking.

Played the game without any save scumming and really enjoyed playing with my fuck ups. That being said act 3 was kind of a pain. There were quests that I really liked, but somethings felt really unfinished and I had a lot of quests bug out. Philosophy tube cameo should have been cut. That faggot can't voice act for shit. Overall had a positive experience and probably will replay it.
