As for the refugee aspect, I only played a bit of Act 3 and I found the aspect to be balanced. Sure, you have the mean land owner and the poor squatters, but you also have those refugees who steal or lie about injuries. Once I play again maybe I'll change my mind, but honestly, it was whatever. I was more concerned with goofing around and yeeting people off rooftops.
now this quest pissed me off. you have people coming into your home un-invited, staying without your permission and consider even killing you for not "sharing" your living space with them. its just like in real life where all the rich fucks and politician asks normal people to take people into their homes, when they have no idea what kind of people they dealing with.

you only end up supporting the refuge because, surprise surprise, turns out the evil land lord was making bombs out of kids toys and donating them to shelters. geez, maybe he would not become a terrorist's if people would stop trying to take his stuff.

trying to manipulate my emotions and ideas yet again millennial writer from Belgien? think again!

But can you side with him and get grenades out of it?

Part of me really despises Karlach and find her cringe AF.

She talks exactly like a MCU character or if she was the PC of a quirky reddit girl.
She has that millenial character talk.

Also she's has been enslaved and forced to fight in Hell for 10 years.
Irl people are sent to prisonnier camps for 1 year and are never the same when they return.
She has been sent to Hell but still is a wholesome big chungus.
Makes 0 sense.

Honestly, they all are different lvl of cringe. I had to kill that reptilian gurl cause she was too cringe and especially loud and don't like loud in my entertaiment. I don't think it is possible to create an interesting and not generic character nowdays, you're gonne piss off too many fragile inividualities from too many ideological sides if you do.

I was honestly freaked out by Gale's "let me show you a magic trick", then he started going full homo at me. I felt like a discord grooming victim.
In the big update from today, they said they made it less ambigious that you're entering into a romantic relationship with Gale. Which is good, because out of nowhere, he told me I had to make a choice between him and monster woman, even though I cut off his gay magic trick before it got gay, and cut off every one of his vague romantic gestures since.

What a cool guy!

People are different, so likes and dislikes will vary wildly. Myself and friends read the same book and who we loved or hated ranged all across. Same rules can be applied to this game. You can't expect people to have the same sentiment for all characters.
If Karlack is cringe for you, you have the option to literally behead her. I myself didn't find her character that weird. She literally has 8 INT and she's supposed to be dumb and bubbly. You also need to take into consideration that being forcibly conscripted and being a prisoner are very different things. And not all people react to a certain situation the same way, so while some may break, others may apply certain psychological defenses (le big chungus) to get through it.
Honestly, if you pay attention to her story, things make sense.
Well, the fact that we didn't have the same view can also be attributed to the differences between people.

Laezel is even easier to understand, because she's literally a soldier, brain-washed by propaganda and no worldly experience. Everything about her makes sense, from the fact that she's a cunt when you meet her, to the fact that she's house trained in later acts, if you properly correct her retarded behavior and attitude.

If you play this game, only seeking approval from companions, thinking of the old system from Dragon Age, you're doing it wrong. You need to correct your band of retards and Larian, to their credit, make sure that they grow accordingly, for the better or worse.

If the toymaker wasn't comically evil, then there would no reason to solve the quest in favour of the squatters. The father insists on having a roof over his family, but he's claimed an entire mansion full of food and shelter for a healthy family of three. There's an ocean of refugees living in tents, but they didn't let anyone else stay there? Why not put the Little Orphan Annie character you can 'adopt' in there, or have sick/injured refugees lying on bedrolls in its spacious halls?
The wife saying she wanted to kill the owner just makes them even more unsympathetic. You'd rather kill a man for trying to enter his house than just go live in a tent like all the other refugees? For what's supposed to be a black-and-white quest, the 'good' guys sure suck.

It's called cock magic you uncultured swine.
My most detested type of magic - Evogaytion.

Not to mention facing an early death from either her metal heart exploding or turning into a squid.
I'm guessing they were trying to avoid making her too 'daamged' to stop stepping on Astarion's story.

On the subject of damaged, I'm roleplaying my Lae'zel as super hostile to ghaik. I choose the hostile response every time to Daisy's suggestions. When you call Daisy a freak, the good guy mask drops totally.
I didn't merk Omeluum as he was the only character who made a sincere and competent attempt to diagnose and treat my tadpole infection. I even ended up springing him from prison due to the no strings intel he gave me.

I'm actually really enjoying Act 3, not sure why everyone is so negative about it.

The only companion I truly liked was Minthara, great voice acting and some good scenes. Too bad you don't get to play with her earlier. Lae'zel was pretty alright until the hot githyanki girlfriend dialogue ruined her for me.

Overall, pretty good game. Had fun playing as a str monk wearing plate and shield. Good ac and hp, mobility with jumping, and decent damage.

I like karlach because she reminds me of a friend I used to have, but we were like 15 years old before she died.

This woman's like 30, and 33% of that time was being a slave. At least don't act like a manchild. At least be an Amiri instead of a manic pixie dream girl with a few octaves shaved off her vocal chords cuz muh body type 4 or 3 or whatever it is.

Come on bro, Amiri is bottom of the barrel shit tier character. I had her my entire PFKM run and I was constantly rolling my eyes at all the moronic crap she would say or do. It's even worse if you make her the general and you get to hear her takes.
If she didn't hit like a truck, I would've benched her the entire run.

ran into my first bug in act 3. bought some bomb arrows and turned off the game. after starting up the game again, my inventory was heavy and could only walk, even though i had enough weight to run normally. checked my bag and saw 3 bomb arrows, weighed 80 KG (what the fuck!?). even after removing them from my bag, i was still too heavy. had to reload a old save before i bought them. luckily it was only 10 minutes back.

So I had the bright idea of downloading a scheduled patch of BG3 a day or so early today. DX11 saves absolutely borked, freezing and crashing within minutes and even using Vulkan my game shits the bed within 20 minutes. The game will freeze and after a minute or two movement commands will halfway work but with frozen character models and no inputs are recognized. I was in early Act II and had bypassed a few areas prior so it could just be a random thing. I think I will wait a bit and see how the updates/mods/dlc(?) turnout. I lose interest quick after the 3rd or 4th mid/late campaign bug wipes my game out.

I own this game but I'm reluctant to install it since I've seen some people saying that there are still a lot of bugs and other issues especially in the third act and with Minthara as well even after the first patch. I need a drow companion for my playthrough but don't want to deal with things not working.
I finally saw some videos of this game, and all of the characters seem like reddit tier cringe.

Was DnD always like this or did Critical Roll do unspeakable damage to the IP?
They're not that different from the old Baldur's Gate or Forgotten Realms novel characters but they are more sexualized for sure. BG3 actually did the lore of the Forgotten Realms setting justice, though and the characters fit in well enough from my perspective. Don't know how much it compares to Critical Role because I have avoided that shit like the plague.
