I'm inclined to agree with this. While the game, despite my earlier misgivings, is fun, it, however, is overhyped and overrated to all hell. There isn't really anything genre breaking about this game. It is a decent enough game that I would recommend to fans of CRPG's but it isn't the greatest CRPG ever made. Not even close. I have a strong feeling that this game will be forgotten to the winds once Starfield comes out next month.
That's why I'm waiting on the game. Modern gaming is pretty much "dying man in a desert", especially if it's high end graphics to justify ridiculous PC specs. And if I start a 100 hour game I want to know it's actually good and not just filler.

I killed Astarion the moment I met him cause he threatened me with a knife.
But now, 20h later, I met the vampire hunter Gandrel, and the game is acting as if Astarion is part of my group and is in the camp.
There was no option to say that he was already dead, very weird.
staked the fucker when he tried to drink my blood but fucked up my dice roll so, he got away. told the hunter about him so im not sure if he Astarion will show up again for a round two or not but atleast i be ready for it.

The Goblin Gimp Abdirak wouldn't let me loot Goblino bodies in his presence. So I killed that faggot and that was enough to break my Paladin's Oath. Me and my party just went thru hell rescuing Halsin and this faggot is going to stop me from picking up loot?
Pretty much just lived out a DnD Version of Pulp Fiction Pawnshop scene. 10/10 very entertained.

All in all, wait to buy it during the next Steam or GOG Summer Sale. By then it should be more optimized and have most of the bugs sorted out. As of right now this game is very poorly optimized for those that don't have a Nvidia RTX card. Doesn't surprise me as this game was made in Nvidia Workshop so of course this game would be more optimized for those that have Nvidia cards. As for the game itself, it is no Planescape or OG Baldur's Gate but is better then the modern slop we have seen from the AAA gaming scene although that is faint praise.

While we're talking about problems the game has, I've experienced tons and tons of really irritating glitches.
Everything from items having the wrong tooltips, to legal actions being impossible or actions being outright lost for no reason.
I've only been playing on Tactician so losing a turn because the game just decided to eat your action before even getting to move can be really bad and pushes me to wanting to save scum.
I've also seen a lot of weird stuff that has to just be the devs forgetting to set flags in game.
Some are small things like identical braziers but only one can be lit, but sometimes it's more major like the range of the critical strike effect on Hold Person only displays in metric when all the other ranges on the spell are in imperial.
Generally the UI is extremely unclear about spell costs, if something is a short rest, long rest or ritual. The fact that you can't tell if a spell is a ritual in the level up screen is just insane.
I've also had issues with skill checks just not showing up and many other things.

It has overall been a fairly fun experience but also an extremely frustrating one with a lot of little but very irritating bugs bringing it down for me.
Also I hate just about every character and I hate that in every conversation there's at least one "reddit" option.
I'm very glad I did not actually pay for the game and instead just got a key from my friend who double dipped on early access and then the collectors edition as soon as they both released.

Assuming eventually I'll be able to mod out the ESG, is the game generally fun otherwise?
I'm having fun, keep in mind I'm playing a very casual version (on balanced normal difficulty), I'm not seriously trying to compose the best group dynamic (I switch out party members in-between short rests) and just choose abilities that sound cool to me.

"But it's degenerate you have to do writer's fetish."

I'm playing how I want to see the game, when Asterion the twink vampire wanted to suck my blood I said "No way homo." My character is not going to have bear sex.

I downloaded the extended free trial of this game and got 10 hours in... so this is the thing that will set the new standard for cRPGs going forward? It's worse than Larian's previous offerings. Don't get me wrong, it's far from being bad and I can look past all the faggotry and libshittery given that I am on the extended free trial, D:OS 1 and 2 just felt much better in every way. CharGen is also very limited, once again they overhyped the shit out of it, making it seem like it's gonna set a new standard but it reminds me of Dark Souls' chargen in that it's very hard to make a character that doesn't look ugly as shit and all of them are preset faces. Souls games at least have sliders.

If you are a fan of CRPG's, turn based combat and D&D I would recommend. However, if you are looking for something ground breaking this ain't it. The game is no different than DOS2 so the meme about the game being D0S3 is correct. The story is somewhat the same as DOS2 expect with a few variations and changes. If you go into the game not buying the hype I think you will have fun otherwise you maybe a bit disappointed.

Those fucking little tiefling kids pickpocketing my character. The worst part was that I couldn't do anything about it because, surprise, you can't kill the kids in an M rated game. God do I miss the good old days.
I am pretty sure you can kill them, I don't know if it was a glitch, but I was able to attack and kill them.

My rtx 3060 has no trouble with it on highest. Only crashed when messing with it in cheat engine too much.

I played through a fair bit of DOS2 with a friend, first turn based I enjoyed since FF Tactics. I'll give it a go in a few weeks once I'm bored with Remnant. Hopefully de-coom mods will be out by then.

I hit steady 60FPS on ultra EXCEPT when going to the level up screen where it dips to single digits for like the ten seconds it takes to fucking load the screen (wtf larian) but the load times and CONSTANT texture pop ins are honestly unacceptable as far as I'm concerned. I think there's a shit load of poor optimisation occurring and it drives me insane. The game is pretty but not that pretty. Curious if they'll patch it or it's just me but based on the ridiculous install size I think no one gives a shit about bloated unnecessary shit in their games.

You can toggle nudity off by default?

I actually like the game but I'm not sure why it's so incredibly resource intensive.

It's not like it's super graphically impressive or anything.

It could be a lot of things. Tracking inventories, pathfinding with stackable crates and thus fluid terrain, which can really eat up memory with constant calculations.
