Some things never change from tabletop, lmao. (Experienced DMs know better than to trivially give players long rests between encounters.)
Yup. Not even lvl 4 and have amassed 1042 camp supplies.

Also as for length I only have 16 hours played at that point. It can be a slow burn if you take your time (and be a thieving bastard as is traditional in CRPGs)

It isn't the based utopia but for current year it is really better than what we usually get, and Blizzard seething over it "setting the new standard" of releasing actually finished games is delicious
I agree. If only there was a mod removing we wuz hewmans and shiet. I'm sure there's a way to change default human model from nigger to something else
in Shar temple there's a battle with doppelgangers. Somehow my PC got as body double a nigger. FFS, they could have just copy existing model

Yeah, though I would report it as a bug.

I have had two crashes so far. The first was in the Arcane Tower in the Underdark. After making it a floor down in the tower my characters movement animations stopped and they just slid around like chess pieces. I was unable to click on any items or perform any actions other than movement. The second crash was chasing the Hag into her lair and after investigating a few things all of the tool bars, character icons on the edge of the screen and the map disappeared. I could not do anything at that point so reloaded the last save and avoided Auntie Ethel entirely. Playing on a 5800X/3080/32GB system until I build new.

My favourite character so far is the ogre who talks like a 2014 YouTube skeptic.

Too bad I rolled a fighter and forgot to change to a face character for that conversation.

I can already see this game being worth multiple play throughs although probably with a new game plus kind of mod so I don't have to grind it out.

White Male Paladin
Divination Wizard
Bard in general
Druid
Sorcadin
Warlock/Fighter/Haste/idfk Blast minigun off a cliff

So anything that worked in PHB essentially, they didn't change enough to change the meta. Even the new "system" they added does fuckall since it's all short rests or "lifeleech but you die in one hit so" shit.
In honor of both Neverwinter Nights 2 and Darksiders 2, I decided to make a "Doom Guide" so to speak. A Priest of Kelemvor, as best I can, building a War Domain Cleric and making him a Githyanki because the face with the white "skull" tattoo looks most like Death's mask from Darksiders 2.

I got some optimization issues to work through with the game, but I think I'll stick with this guy.

Say hello to "Medieval Assault" a Gith Cleric who loves heavy metal:

You better fucking dip into bard so you can play the lute mid-battle.

I'll probably just do full bard and make him a half-orc instead. Half orcs rock the whole heavy metal motif pretty nicely too:

By far, however, the most obnoxious part of the character creation menu is the fact that "body type" determines male or female while "identity" does absolutely nothing to your aesthetic appearance whatsoever.

What's hilarious about this is I think Larian might even have NPCs assume the correct gender every time, no matter what your character looks like. Hell you can give your hulking half-orc male a high-pitched female voice if you want to. Nobody in the game will look at you any different. This is the most bizarre character creation menu I have ever seen.

I wonder if there will be a day when the political pendalum swings so hard in reverse, people look back at this stuff and say, "Yeah, let's patch this out."

I killed Astarion the moment I met him cause he threatened me with a knife.
But now, 20h later, I met the vampire hunter Gandrel, and the game is acting as if Astarion is part of my group and is in the camp.
There was no option to say that he was already dead, very weird.

Wasn't really in a hurry to play this game mainly because I'm not really a fan of D&D's setting, but I've finally gotten around to playing it and I want to say I'm about half-way through act 1. My thoughts are as follows:
1. The companions, with exception to Wyll and Shadowheart, are incredibly irritating. Lae'zel is completely unlikable right off the back because she's a psychopathic bitch, Astarion is unlikable because he shit talks me and disapproves me for whatever reason because I guess he's a nihilistic sadist who loves watching people suffer I guess, I killed the drow character and I don't know her name, and Kalarch is the quintessential redditor mom energy character that I have a feeling soylents and dykes drool over because she screams "FUCK YES" every time I want to do something exciting. She's not the worst of the bunch, but her lol randomness is extremely hard to endure. Gale makes my skin crawl because he fawns over me every time I give a child a gold piece. What the fuck are these companions?

2. Crowd Control spells feel completely fucking useless. Sleep is trivialized by having enemies have infinite throws because some chuckle fuck thought that was a good idea to program.

3. There's a really obnoxious bug during combat where sometimes enemies will get stuck on their turn and they seem to freeze in stasis and the game will not pass their turn at all until an indefinite amount of time. There's another one that's really annoying where the screen will turn black and have a loading symbol in the bottom right corner and it will just infinitely load until you force quit the game.

4. Larian has never been good at writing narratives and this is no exception it seems. I did not care about the scuffle between the tieflings (because their children are anarchic thieving little shits) and the druids (the leader wants to essentially seal off the grove from outsiders for no other reason other than she just hates outsiders until you dicover "no guys! she's actually evil!" *sigh*) and I'm going to guess we're a godwoken sorry, excuse me, chosen one given that we just got visited by a seemingly godly being in our dreams? So it's literally just Divinity Original Sin 2 except with parasites instead of voidwoken and source.

5. The character creator is terrible. No further elaboration required.

Those are so far my thoughts. Divinity Original Sin 2 at least had a fun and wacky combat system with environmental destruction and idiosyncratic abilities where you could dish out crazy amounts of damage if you wanted to go all out. Baldur's Gate 3 seems to be trying to desperately frankenstein that mindset with the 5th edition combat (which is already limited in terms of what you can actually do) and it really seems to be really failing hard for me right now. Grease and burning hands is a cool combo, but it's rarely, if ever, effective. Rogues feel essential and fun to play, but unless you want to create a rogue character yourself, you have to endure Astarion's bitchiness because how dare you want to play a good character.

I'm hoping things get better, but so far this is feeling like 2023's Bioshock or Last of Us for me. Games that, at the time, I felt were overhyped and way overrated due to how much fellating they got for "pushing the medium forward". I'm hoping not the case, but I'm slightly not enjoying my time with this game.

Those fucking little tiefling kids pickpocketing my character. The worst part was that I couldn't do anything about it because, surprise, you can't kill the kids in an M rated game. God do I miss the good old days.

It's weird, despite all the focus on them during development and marketing, the companions have surprisingly little content, especially given the size of the game. They rarely offer their two-cents during sidequests (that aren't their personal quests but that contrast just makes them being otherwise quiet stick out even more) and also don't interject much into conversations with other NPCs. Banters between party members are also few and far between. They do offer a comment on a new story area or event if you talk to them but it's usually just a sentence or so, no in depth conversation about what's happening or anything.

The game also really needs more regular, non-origin companions that don't want to fuck you. Most disappointing here is the lack of a psychotic, mercenary dwarf -- BG1 had Kagain, BG2 had Korgan, BG3 has... a fagpire and a gay bear but no cool dwarf.

I'm inclined to agree with this. While the game, despite my earlier misgivings, is fun, it, however, is overhyped and overrated to all hell. There isn't really anything genre breaking about this game. It is a decent enough game that I would recommend to fans of CRPG's but it isn't the greatest CRPG ever made. Not even close. I have a strong feeling that this game will be forgotten to the winds once Starfield comes out next month.

With 9 levels I've finally been able to fully establish all my character's class identities:

-MC: 4 MNK (Open Hand) / X Bladelock (GoO Pact) - toggle the reaction disabler, run up and punch a guy, step back one bit and blast them. All of which creates lightning charges + thunder charges + cold charges, and procs Hex and CHA dmg bonus alongside downing haste potions like cocaine doing a total of 6 attacks a turn. If I'm out of points to go Nova, I just hang back and spam EB with some summon or something I found as a bonus action.
-Wyll: 4 Paladin/ XWarlock - Sorcadin but Warlock. Essentially. Also I was trying to make healers that weren't shadowheart.
-ShadowHeart: X Cleric - CoDzilla duh.
-Astarion: X Rogue - Honestly no idea how to make an Arcane Trickster in 5E - I was trying true strike, but modded true strike doesn't count. Also sneak attack isn't applicable to ranged spell attacks for some reason so idfk. I'm thinking of turning him into a fucking bard tbh. Not like being a rogue has any lore reasons to him. While a High CHA does so.
-Fish Woman: X Eldritch Knight - It is gith. Duh
-Female Doom Slayer: 4 Paladin/ X Barbarian - I'm trying to make it work, the smites she has from her lore is making me want to try. Maybe 4 PAL/4 Barb/4Warlock? idfk I was honestly just trying to make a pseudo-healer again.
-Gale: 3 Cleric/X Wizard- Old build I used to do in 5e in an attempt to make a mystic Theurge, essentially just getting the heal spells and using Wizard slots, especially the ezpz actual heal spell at SL2.

Any of you guys come up with a build that takes advantage of human’s racial proficiencies? So far, the only thing I can really come up with is a pure spore Druid who uses a halberd mainly for swag points. It’s funny, because most classes that would want to use any of those weapons probably has the proficiency or some way of gaining it anyway. Especially without melee cantrips in the game.
